Wow..what a game. Just finished my first strike on Earth with a couple of randoms. Took about 90 minutes from start to end and apart from some bullet sponge bosses it was fantastic.

Was that that L8 strike with the spider tank and stuff? Played that myself last night at L8 with two L9 randoms, took us a while to work out how to handle a few bits where we died a lot (PS3 so nobody ever has comms anyway!) but overall it was great, very tense towards the end as well. Definitely how it's best experienced, shame so many people won't ever have found that out and I still can't believe how relatively difficult it is to team up with others for the most part.

All I know is that if I hit someone under level 15 with the full brunt of my bloo shotty subweapon they disintegrate. If I hit someone over level 20 they don't. I point blank hit a level 26 guy in 3v3 and it only took off two thirds of his shield.

There is definitely some sort of overshield shit going on, also I seem to get constantly one shot killed.

Not a fan of the crucible...yet (this may change as I level up also)

Strikes will always match you with 2 others at the beginning at least, the problem for me is that I can't seem to talk to the others, either because they are already in a party or for some other reason which eludes me at present (using the default all sound through headphones option in game).

That strike is arguabley the worst of them since it takes a good while to whittle down the tank at level 8.

I'm starting to detect a pattern, day one there's a bounty to do a mission on heroic difficulty, day two it becomes the daily challenge. Back to the archive then tonight!

Yeah, it's all about pack hunting. As unbalanced as it is, teamwork > gear.

Totally. It's also a good idea to consider your movements and what that displays on the radar. If you can read the radar well, learn the maps, and tread as softly as possible, it's totally possible to sneak about undetected.

If I set up a Ward of Dawn super with the right perk, everyone on my team can have a temporary shield. Also, if I'm a Defender and I melee someone, I get a shield. It's not all just kit.

Didn't find it too bad once we realised we needed to close the distance quickly. I emptied clip after clip into the legs from under the bridge to the right while one, then both of the others were over to the left distracting things that way. Shoot a lot in the core when it drops & repeat, probably took no longer than the floating eye thing.

Yeah, I go for a really support orientated Defender spec.

Suppression grenade to prevent abilities;

Reduced cooldown of ward;

Increased duration of ward;

Huge damage resistance when inside ward;

Melee kills when Force Barrier is active grant Orbs of Light;

In the video I posted, you can see how quickly you can get another super up with the reduced cooldown and Orbs of Light generated. I just run around sitting on Control points.

Salvage was even better for it, as you only had the one point and defending that point meant you were generating points, whereas in Control, you need the kills on top of the capture points.

Yeah if you play defensively in crucible, crouching behind doors n stuff you can easily triple kill all on your own. The radar is essential in this

I played a few games of Control with you on my team earlier, purely by chance as we aren't PSN buddies (PSN ID: EdRetro). Assuming you go by the same name on there as you do here, minus the UK. We kicked ass. :)

This game. :wub:

Ok so I'm trying to get my head round this elemental damage business as have totally ignored it so far. Is there any easy way to tell what type of damage a weapon does other than going all the way in to your inventory and taking a look? How on earth am I supposed to remember what damage type each weapon does when I have far far too many of them and keep picking loads up? Or is it a case of literally having one of each type in the slots and trying to remember? Or am I missing something obvious (likely)?

Also I dismantle loads of my weapons and gear I pick up, does everyone else do this as what's the point of keeping lower level stuff, unless rare or whatever of which I have none?

Still not seen one public event so far which is disappointing, hopefully that patch will sort it out. Anyway, played a few strikes last night and loved it, dragged myself to the cusp of 18. Fully agree that this is a classic in the making. Gets better and better and better the more you play and as soon as your friends join in it's even more fun. Wish I had more time to play...

Today's daily is very tough, they're not kidding when they say the melee enemies are much more aggressive. Also, there are no further intermediate checkpoints after you finish defending the first point, although I swear the indicator came up in the corner of the screen. Decided to lick my wounds and retreat with just a completed bounty and a couple of cryptograms to show for it.

Look at the symbol next to the outline of each gun on your HUD, it's colour coded for damage type. Blue arc for fallen, orange solar for hive and purple void for vex.

I keep some guns either for alts or in case I decide to respec. Only 20 available slots though.

Still enjoying this but I think the elemental damage is going too far given the shitness of the weapon switching. I also think the vex are crappy enemies to fight, the least fun by a mile.

Have you met the cabal yet? My least favourite for sure, some precision sniping helps with the shielded ones but all pretty tough.

I've keeping my best gun of each type for primaries, and one in each colour (of the ones I use) for secondaries/heavies. So I've got a lot of different shotguns and fusion rifles.

I haven't been worrying about keeping anything for a secondary - I figure with all the level requirements and so on, it'd be too much work.

Yeah, I like fighting them: headshot heaven!

I just don't like the vex's cheap teleporting. The big vex bosses are good though -- you can't really beat a giant robot.

Purple shield = weak to purple damage.

The icon next to your gun ammo counter shows the type of damage it does. Purple ammo icon = purple damage.

Your primary guns always do kinetic non-elemental damage.

Changed my opinion on this a few times as I have gone through. I am enjoying it now, earlier wasn't sure if it was a bit too grindy. Now I am playing it because the shooting is damn good, and if the drops come then great.

I think the worst part about it is the one thing you absolutely have to grind, no choice in the matter. That's right, at some point I will attempt to add all the people on the PS4 players list.

Managed to get up to 23 due to being very lucky and getting two legendaries. A helmet and a rocket launcher. The launcher reloads super quick. Combined with the Titan melee perk I can unleash hell on a room very quickly if needed.

Is it bad I got both of them from blue engrams?
