I quite like that you can't complete the events if there aren't enough people there, or indeed the people that are there aren't very good.

What would be great is if the timer was slightly longer and people in neighbouring zones got some kind of notification that an event had started nearby. Perhaps there is, but I haven't seen one.

The public events do seem far less frequent than in the Beta.. only encountered one so far in god knows how many hour play.

Same goes for the weapon/item drop rate, shame it got nerfed so badly. Hopefully it might get balanced out a bit in a future update.

It's not nerfed, it was deliberately boosted in the beta to cram weeks of unlocks into a matter of a few days.

That's not to say the game is shit, it clearly isn't and it must be doing something refreshing and revolutionary to gain the respect it seems to be getting (That's why I'm so desperate for the reviews).

Refreshing and revolutionary is about the last thing it is! (And I really like the game). It's "just" Halo again with a bit of Diablo and WoW. The production values are high, the writing is average so far, the skies are lovely, the content at launch may prove to be ungenerous, we'll see.

I think what it does it seems to do really well. Large numbers of forumites playing mean I should have plenty of good games in the next few weeks. Who knows if it will have longevity for me, I might feel like I'm done with it then.

I'd give it a 9, but I think most outlets will give it an 8, and I think there will be plenty of lower scores given the "meh" that so many first impressions have revealed.

Well I think it's great. Just went through a load of the moon missions with a random and it was excellent. It should be boring but it just isn't and I'm so impressed with the art direction and sound design (apart from the tower which is a bit dry) that I have a pathetically desperate need to see more of the game!

I recommend getting levelled up beyond the level suggested for the missions and having someone weaker on your fire team for the co-op stuff. This way you get to play the role of the avuncular bad ass.

Would also point out that uncommon weapons with a load of perks on are often much better than the headline rating suggests. The same goes for armour.

I am excited about my rare sniper rifle (127 damage and tonnes of upgrades to come), which just ruins enemies. I find this worrying because I normally hate all that rpg shit. Damn you bungie, it's a slippery slope, soon I'll be playing fucking DOTA!

Does anyone know if there is any point in upgrading your ship?

Also when can I buy a speeder bike with guns? I really want one to go on 'patrol' with.

Got to lvl 20 last night, and not even finished the moon yet. Crucible levelled me up so quick its insane. The good thing with it though is all the items I get from now on I can dismantle for the parts needed to level up weapons and armour later on.

Shaders are re-usable btw, for those who asked. I'm using the Blacksmith one I got for free from a Game cock up (usually from pre-ordering CoD:MW), and it looks pretty nice.

To get the purple weapons/armour from both the vanguard and the PvP vendors you'll need reputation and marks - for PVP this is easily gotten just by doing Crucible matches from 18 onwards I believe, whereas for the Vanguard you'll have to do the Strikes playlist to get the marks I think, as well as the reputation. You can also get the reputation earlier by grinding the patrol missions, but you'll get no marks this way and its only 10 rep per mission which is a bit too low in my opinion, 20 would have been better overall. Crucible matches always give reputation I believe whatever the level.

For the 3 PVP factions, once you get to lvl 20 you can equip one of their unique faction items to obtain reputation for them by doing bounties, crucible matches and I think it was also patrol missions but I'll have to check back. The items they sell also seem to need Crucible marks to buy.

Oh forgot to mention that you can get PvE items from doing the Crucible - I got a helmet with an obvious PvE bonus on it last night which was "you get more super energy from killing non guardians".

Ah yeah, that was fun :D

The load times are balls. You're up in orbit, you choose where you want to go, it counts down from 3, then it sits there for a bit, sometimes up to ten seconds, then your ship flie off. Then you get a loading screen for another 10 seconds or so. Then you get a view of your ship flying through the clouds over the planet. This takes another 15-30 seconds. Then you're in the game. When you finish a mission you get the stats screen, then you're back in orbit whether you like it or not. Let's say you got a thing you have to go hand in at the Tower, you have to do the whole loading process again, land on the tower, hand it in, return to orbit and choose somewhere else and have to do the whole thing again. It's a lot of staring at my spaceship.

That's staring at your ship bit always makes me wish it would pan to the side and a game of Gradius V would start.

Hopefully your ship looks cool then :P

I cant help but feel that in 3 months time none of us will be playing this.

I dunno, I think there's a decent amount of stuff that Bungie have yet to show. The Strikes are fun, but I'm really intrigued as to what the Raids are like.

Plus they're not full expansions, so they can add more in over the coming months. I expect Bungie to support the game in this manner.

There's a daily challenge to descend into Space Hell on the Moon and punch Gandulf Dreadhelm in the face or something. I'm tempted to try it tonight if anyone fancies joining me.

Edit- incidentally I absolutely adore pulpy stuff like this, more daft fantasy-inspired names and hystrionics please.

will be sad to part with my blammo hunter pistol and finally got a cape, which I'll wear to Mars tonight. Keep wishing it was proper open world rather these short missions, where you could pick up bounties and quests where you explored and learned about the lore through experience rather than a look at my smartphone.

Having said that the web/app stuff is really good with my character exactly as in game.
