Destiny: FIN

That doesn't sound very likely as enemies 3 (or maybe 4) levels above become immune to your damage. At least it was that way in the beta, I did the Strike missions at level 4/5 and it took me a while to figure out that there was actually nothing I could do to damage the enemies.

it's possible I'd dinged 4 when I took down 7's, I guess, but I'm absolutely certain I was having no trouble whatsoever with small groups a couple of levels above me. I presume on normal difficulty since I haven't changed anything.

Interesting regarding the weak spots. I'll pay more attention to that. I often found myself using my favoured Halo method of charging strong enemies down with the AR before punching them to death and sprinting out the other side to cover.

Destiny is probably the best multi player game I have played since the crazy days of Halo 2. Half a billion dollars was spent creating this game and it shows.
This game finally prompted me to pick up a PS4, a small admission price to pay.

Comedy gold moments with my fellow Guardian Banjaxed & Knightfall, priceless, and an unusual use of the phrase ' safe word ' ... You had to be there ;)
hope some of you compadres will join in the fun soon.

I skipped the beta, so went into this blind. It's absolutely lovely after a couple of hours play, but I've just been playing solo. Not really sure how to do the multiplayer stuff (besides seeing a bunch of people running around in the Tower place). Do I have to finish the Earth story stuff solo before I can join up with randoms and friends?

I believe that the half a billion line they trot out is a projected figure refers to the entire life of the franchise for many years, but it's good spin as obviously believe people actually belive they've bought a game that cost $500,000,000 to make!

Had a go on Team Slayer (whatever it's called) last night and can see that being where I'm spending most of time. Great weapons and my Warlocks massive energy bolt thing he fires from his hands lays waste to any players that dare group together. I can see this being my new Halo 2. :D

Absolutely loving this, spent all day yesterday playing, level 11 and just unlocked Venus.

Had a mixture of playing solo and in a fireteam with just 2 of us then 3. 3 was definitely the most fun and tense when two people needed revived and you felt like a hero getting them up in the midst of a boss battle. Playing solo was actually testing at times with the missions set on hard.

Especially the one I just done on the Moon where you have to destroy the hive and was the first time I had seen trolls, seemed to be around 10+ Knights and at one point was fighting 3 witches at the same time.

It's definitely very Halo but for me that is a great thing.

The audio is superb through my Sony Gold's / headset 2.0 or whatever people know them as, it's so atmospheric and tense moments the music gets you feeling like you are about to die without even being hit.

PSN never let me down yesterday at all smooth as butter, I was very surprised. Also at one point I had 31 people online most of them playing destiny (for my friends list that is a lot !).

So how do you go about setting rllmuk as a clan?

I'm part of the group, but can't see the option to change it to a clan.

The admin of the group needs to enable it first. They need to go into the Admin panel of the Group and enable PSN / Live.

Once that's done, members will get the option Set as Playstation Clan next to the Interact menu.

He misses most shots and when he's out of ammo he runs up to enemies to punch them. Not the best tactic in the book. 8 hours in and he still hasn't changed up his strats.

I had to do that early on as my grenade thing was recharging, and all the ammo was by a load of dead bodies that had more things on top shooting at me and there was also some boss thing I needed to kill. What else was I supposed to do?

So after playing the beta on PS3 and jumping in on my shiny new PS4 last night, the thing that impressed me the most isn't the awesome skybox, or that the game now has the Vaseline smear washed away, it's the light that fires out of the joypad when your in game torch comes on. Had me grinning like a loon in a dark room with headphones on that did. Well immersive.

Small details

Game itself - I'm loving it whilst being very aware of its flaws. Not a fan of always online (case in point getting booted out of story mission 2 just after dropping the boss and having to do it all again). I'm also in agreement that this is a bigger game purposely broken up into a quite small initial product to keep the moneys coming in, but to be honest it is a blast and the gunplay and drip fed loot will more than keep me happy. Guess this online episodic thing is just where games are headed.

Fuck you Moz  I've had my ass fuckin handed to me at times on Normal, admittedly partly to me rushing in impatiently but I've been ambushed quite a few times by some prick who's flanked me. Most of my deaths though have been due to those bloody stealth vandals. Real pain in the ass those if they catch you out.

I don't think I've died on a singleplayer mission yet, died a few times on strike missions though!

To answer Timmo's complaint about guns, most decent guns have a tech tree of their own. Swapping a gun with everything unlocked for a gun that does a few extra damage is not always the best idea. You'll swap less often as you get further into the game.

Anyway, I really want to see what the endgame looks like, but I don't want to read about it!

My only gripe so far are the samey missions and lack of setpieces. All the Bungie Halos have great setpieces, whereas Destiny is a series of hordemode arena fights.

I'm not sure how.

Can someone who has played this more than me tell me what it has over Borderlands 2?

It's pretty damn similar. Opponents have little AI and are basically the same as the enemies in the Borderlands games. They are there in numbers and are to be shot as quickly as possible. The Covenant they are not but that's a design choice, not a criticism.

Is the fireteam size always a maximum 3 in this?

Yes, the raids apparently take it up to 6 players.

I'm a bit worried I've put in about 6 hours and I've unlocked three of the four planets already. The game is really going to live or die on the endgame for me.

There are lot of high level areas on Earth (not sure about other planets) which are difficult to play at the moment so these areas will become accessible once you level up.
