Enjoying IB, first time I've done it as only got the game this month. I've reached rank 5 and got all the bounties, is there any point in me playing now (apart from for fun!) like if you're rank 5 are you more likely to get good drops or anything?

Managed to get up to 295 light now, is that high enough to have a crack at Nightfall?

I think the loot pool for drops starts including weapons at rank 4 but make sure you've spoken to Saladin if you've hit rank 5 as he'll have a reward package for you. 295 is fine for the Nightfall.

Credit to Bungie where it's due because having been dreading this Iron Banner as a solo player it's actually been a complete breeze. Really enjoyable matches with hardly any lag & I was dropped into only one match on the losing side. Didn't come up against any 6-man fireteams either, which was always my biggest bugbear in the past. Not sure what changes they've made to the matchmaking but it seems to be doing its job.

I saved a couple of weekly bounties from the last Iron Banner to cash in on Sunday, meaning that I only had to play for a few hours on one character & none at all on the other in order to hit the ranks I needed on both to get the gear I wanted.

Keep playing at rank 5, there's a chance of better drops. I got 310 ghosts with both my guys when the got to rank 5, but I've also had 311, 312, and 315 ghosts from drops since I got to rank 5. Fucking ghosts.

I used a 3oC in all the games I played yesterday and got four exotic engrams too, though the primary was a bust (fucking Suros reigeme again). I wish there was some way I could go after the last word, bad juju or the red death.

Is there a primer of sorts for new players? I got completely overwhelmed when I got to the player hub, loads of information about stuff I can't do for ages yet, and it's throwing silver, motes of light and some coins at me.

I know this stuff is par for the course in memos with expansions out.

Had a tough few runs on trials last night. Didn't get a lot of time to play the map this weekend but agonisingly got to 8-0 twice and played sniper gods, and a few 7-0 and 6-0 runs before getting beat. As long as they keep the mode going and perhaps improve matchmaking (a few games with awful awful lag) then I think I may just play this forever, particularly because I'm not quite good enough to know I can go flawless every week so always something to play for and improve on

It's great having leftover Iron Banner bounties, stack them up with the alt buff on Monday and you're laughing. I only had to play 4 matches on my Warlock to hit rank 5, and 5 matches on my Titan.

Which was great because Rift is shite.

Managed to get six of us together for a few games last night and it was ridiculously easy to the point we were working out which one of us should take the Rift in order to get the Top Overall Score bounty. Then I joined a few games solo and it was shambolic. I know Control is also objective based but it seems people get that one a bit more.

I saw some groups last night just committing suicide and inducing the mercy rule. I guess they were just farming for loot once they hit rank 5?

Pity I joined their side a couple of times. :(

I think that's rep farming.

5 quick losses (for medals) then 1 quick win = more rep/min than actually playing and fighting to win

I read about deliberate mercy ruling. As Hexx says, it allows you to stock up on medallions (e.g. for a good boost for the first win next IB). Also, more games = more changes of post game loot. Apparently a well practiced group of rift losers can lose in a couple of minutes.

Pointless really, buy each to their own.

I enjoyed IB rift more than clash.
