Destiny: FIN

Dedicated servers and weapon trading between friends. Not selling, not duplicating, just plain old swapsies.

"Cool, look at my new sniper".

"That looks good, can I try it out?".

"Yeah sure, here you go" [emoji3]

I dunno about that, but if you were with someone when that stuff dropped there should be no reason you cant swap it with that person. World of Warcraft had a system like that where it wouldn't be soulbound (non-trade-able) for a few hours, so you could trade it to someone who did need it.

Yeah it's stupid that they're just the same stuff. I got half way through rank one this evening, about ten kills with each weapon type, two wins out of seven matches. I did ok in most of them, got my ten kill streak, double kills and highest score but when you're playing alone or in a small fireteam it feels like a proper grind when you keep ending up in games where you're getting hammered.

Had mostly good games last night (caveat - never had less than 4 people in our group / comms). Some dodgy connections but got around that by stopping them getting the rift at all costs.

Can imagine it being very frustrating for solo queuers - we had a few games ended early and it's much easier for a team of 6 to steamroll randoms.

Did a few games last night - some in a 3some. Mix of good matches and bad matches. The bad ones were normally ruined by a Red Bar rift runner basically seeming unkillable.

Then the group MBO mentions above - good matches pretty much.

I think some of the matches are too small for Rift really - and the mad scramble for the spark due to Highest Score/2500 point bounties is annoying.

The scoring is wierd. If you don't get the spark and travel your score feels so low. I know the point is that kills shouldn't count - but defender/stopper/assiting should give more. It's very easy to feel you aren't contributing even with a massive amount of kills to hinder the other team.

Have played some appalling groups though - some where they were approaching it like deathmatches, some where they're just terrible. I think we had 3 matches last night mercy ruled...which is a record for me!

In terms of gear - the purchased scout rifle, although 280, looks like it has some good rolls (lots of stability and target acquisition)

I can see this IB being very frustrating, I think I'm just going to get my bounties done and save them for the last day. We had four games, won 1 which isn't an awful win rate, it isn't even worse than usual ( considering I was playing on my 2nd char at 293 ) but it's not at all enjoyable. The game doesn't feel balanced at all and it's not even worth trying when your team isn't playing the objective.

Two examples where we lost.

I cleared out the spark point on my own, grabbed the spark and made my way to their rift.. nobody followed. I killed two or three of their players while keeping the rift just outside their base but there were 2 of them on it and I'm on mic requesting help and nope, nothing. Eventually they came to me and I lost the spark.

We're behind in a fairly close game that's nearing the end, I got a triple kill and died at the spark point while a warlock killed the rest of the team with lightening and then I watched while I was waiting for re-spawn as the remaining five members of my team stood around the spark waiting for the other team to respawn and take it. They only needed to pick it up to win the game.

Hit and miss this morning...

Started off very badly. I was dropped into a game already in progress to the statement "the enemy has ignited your rift"

Great. Oh well I'll just work on my bounties and collect my medallion. We got smashed. I got my medallion.

End game. "We're breaking up the teams"

Thank Christ I thought...

I checked my phone whilst the game was queueing and the level loads.

Oh look we're in a game already in progress again, it's not too bad. We're within a 1000 points.

Bring up my ghost and see that there's only 2 on our side. WTF!

People did join our side eventually and we came pretty close to winning to be fair.

How does the game break up the teams to put me in a worse one?

Up to rank 2 on both characters and I've had boots drop for both. Poor light level on both tbh.

Went flawless this weekend which was one of the best gaming experiences I've had in any game. Started a casual game having not played in weeks for a laugh on Monday night and we started doing OK, getting to 7 wins twice and then getting stomped. Started a final run at almost 1am and didn't lose a game. Great feeling really learning a map and nailing it. I wonder if they don't let people create custom games to keep trials interesting?

The 312 primary and impending divorce from my wife still hasn't wiped the smile off my face

Got put into an IB Rift game that was already in progress.

Five seconds later, killed by a guy with radiance charging towards me.

Mercy rule kicked in before I could respawn.

GG.

I was looking forward to Iron Banner after taking a couple weeks off, but Rift was a terrible choice.

Joined a group off of The100 last night and it's much more fun in a team obvs, even if you're losing.

It's worth saving my weekly bounties till the end right?

Tempted to cash them in tomorrow so it can get the rank up on one character and enjoy the boost on the other.

Best thing to do is keep one dude one rank in the lead, and only play the alts if they're getting the buff. But make sure you at least pick up the daily bounties on all three dudes every day, so even if you don't play your third guy until the last day, he's got like 6 or 7 daily bounties plus the weeklies to hand in.

I cash in the weeklies at the earliest point they'll take me to 5, and not before.

Dunno if you noticed, but my technique is to wait, and then cash in all 98 medallions I have amassed as late as I can.

Apologies if this has already been covered but I received an email from Bungie yesterday asking me for feedback as to why I'd stopped playing Destiny. Just two questions, why (multiple choices covering just about every comment expressed in this thread) and how likely would I return to Destiny?

Stating the obvious but they must really be seeing a drop off in numbers. Have they ever actually published active user stats?

Ha. We did not have a great run. I got one win before the end though! First time I've ever lost enough in a row that I didn't get a medallion for a game.

Really enjoyed Rift last night (party of 4-6 for most of it).

There's still some silly maps for Rift, but with good planning and communication it's a fun little game mode. (Vertigo can do one though)

Annecdotally - connection issued seemed better in about 15-20 games 'only' 4-5 had cheaters and that was mostly 1 per match. It's not perfect but it's hell of a lot better (that's a very small sample though!)

Hit 320 last night on my main ( Hunter ) thanks to the Helmet finally dropping from Oryx. ^_^

Got a few more things on my Destiny bucket list ( NTTE, Simulant, Chaperone ) but in terms of what I actually want to achieve in the game, I'm about done.

Even if no other new content drops, I'll probably keep on running the raid with my guys for as long as the team holds together, its been more about the banter than the drops for well over a month now anyway really.

That's interesting, how did you answer?

I feel the banter may have peaked with "Capptastrophe" last night

I'm really feeling the shit randomness at the moment, after getting on for probably 10 hard oryx challenge completions I've not had a helmet drop, nor did I get a 320 from all the time spent racing in SRL. On 3 chars all doing the raid god knows how many times I've not had a 320 ghost drop, or a 320 class item....oh and no boots at 320...how many times do I have to run this raid through for the odds to even out and me to get these damn drops! Hell just one of them would be nice :quote:

*self pitying rant over*
