Destiny: FIN

The story even said the info was a year old. If it's not in the game by now it's probably not happening, you know?

I am sure they are talking about stuff like this all the time, and as long as they keep realising it would be a ruinously stupid thing to do then I'm fine with it.

As for the delayed-out-of-2016 stuff, I find that a lot more plausible. Anecdotally (i.e. by looking at my PSN friends list, this thread's activity, and the state of the subreddit) user numbers have obviously tumbled. If that Kotaku thing from a few months back, about them doing no DLC this year and filling the hole with events and Silver sales - is true, it's clearly not working out for either the player or the bottom line.

They'll have had the entire studio, live team aside, working on Destiny 2, or whatever we're calling the thing that comes out this September. I think they've looked at a graph with a steadily declining line on it, realised that at this rate by the time September comes no-one will care anymore, so have yanked a chunk of that team and have got them making some proper, permanent content to sell as DLC, getting players back on the hook and plugging the revenue gap.

I actually think the game's problems go a lot further than just not having new stuff to do, but it'd be a start at least.

We had a couple of test rift games earlier ahead of Iron Banana.

Game 1 - excellent fun, we won on points with what was probably the last kill of the match. Both teams had rift possession - they 'scored' once, we had probably better overall travel. If all games are like this, then IB will be excellent.

Game 2 - slightly concerned by some of the connections going in. HOLY SHIT - three of their guys were certainly killable, but not before they'd kill at least you and the person next to you as well. Nothing was registering on them for 3-4 seconds. Which would be annoying usually but not game changing but they could basically get the rift uncontested and if they got close, score uncontested as they were impossible to kill. On one particularly bad run we didn't even see them pick up the rift and it was instantly next to our end zone. We had control of the spawn zone but with no one seemingly being there, they'd taken the rift and practically scored.

Whilst dodgy connections in normal IB can be annoying in a "I shouldn't have died there" kind of way, in rift whole games are going to be a write off based on today.

Its the lack of content thats killed the player base - The Taken King was a fabulous expansion by anyones defintion but some silly mistakes (making all the year one content irrelevent and removing half the strikes from the playlists) meant that once you'd finished the quest lines and rinsed the raid well that was about it. There was a massive slice of content there but not enough to be repeatable infinitum - which was silly when they had so much stuff that could have been easily reused

I'm retired for now - I might come back for IB - I probably won't

I can see why people are getting tired, I had quite a lot of stuff left over to do from last year, so I've still got the bow subclass to do with the hunter (my main, now at 304), the reviving fire cunt and the new emperor ones on my warlock alt (297) and I've got my Titan up to level 37, with gear I've infused up to 280-290 level for when I hit 40. I've still got a few things I want from Dead orbit, and there's s few exotic weapons I'm after. Hopefully IB will get my hunter up to around 310, I just wish there was some way to aim for the exotics rather than just grinding and hoping.

Without a monthly sub - do they really feel the impact until Dest 2?

Less people playing means less microtransactions, which will obviously hurt their income that way. I wouldn't be surprised if Activision are also monitoring the games player-base because of this as well, and may impact on Destiny 2 going forward in some way.

To be taken with a pinch of salt however it hasn't been confirmed that this isn't an actual bungie employee, the mods from reddit are trying to find out though.

Having read over it, i'm thinking it's fake, I mean at one point they say everyone is working on Destiny 2 except them self, i'd imagine it would be easy within bungie to work out who it is (seeing as they used a throwaway account).

Weekly Nightfall: The Dust Palace is this week’s strike with Solar burn. Modifiers Brawler, Ironclad, and Airborne are active. Brawler increase your melee damage. Ironclad increases the number of enemies with shields. Airborne increase the damage you deal while in the air.

So if that stuff is to be believed they've run out of money and staff, aren't doing any further events, aren't doing any expansions this year, haven't sold anything through eververse (what a shock, who wouldn't want dances for £4), but they're still expecting people to be around for Destiny 2 when it launches six months late? We're basically looking at no new Destiny content for the next year, when everyone is already finished with TTK? Sounds like they've properly fucked it up.

Not sure. Most are only popping one emote each when I see them (because you can only equip one at any time - which kills a lot of the interest for me) and they could have bought that with their "free" silver.

Anecdotally I only know a couple out of about 10 people who's spent money and then only very little (e.g. one emote such as zombie dance)

I mean I bought that silly SRL book (only one I know who did) and while I don't regret it as such, I'm not sure I'd do it again.

I'm sure they have made *some* money off silver but it's clearly nowhere near as much as they made from DLC sales in year one. That F2P model needs whales to work, and they simply don't have enough stuff to buy for people to actually be whales (and the RNG silver purchases during events haven't offered good enough rewards to make them worthwhile).

The thing that jumps out at me about that (yes, fake) reddit post doing the rounds is the notion that there are only three people on the live team, I know for a fact that's bullshit.

What is the min recommended light level for Iron Banner? Been trying to boost myself up but I've only got to around 285, will I get stomped? I've found it pretty hard to progress past that since the vendors don't sell anything past 280 :(

Also been thinking I've been doing amazingly at Crucible but reading around it seems that matchmaking has been favouring my skill level and they're gonna change that? booooo.

I think they say 290+ is "recommended" but if I understand correctly it's not that much difference. Like 10% dam difference between 290 and 310 (someone will have a graphic).

It's noticeable and but shouldn't ruin it for you. They'll also be lots of people all rushing into it at various light levels.

What I don't understand is why they're so ruthless about abandoning older stuff. In a game that's struggling to supply enough content over time, you'd think they'd find ways to keep stuff like the Vault of Glass relevant.

Oh god yeah. Just add a third difficulty, 300 light, Nightfall-like modifiers that rotate every couple of weeks, and the standard TTK loot table. Just make it worth running all that stuff again.

Somewhere to get primary weapons and hats at decent light levels (310+ ideallly!) would be nice. We've not got Oryx HM yet and lack of primary is one of few area for improvement.

And I want his hat because it looks cool.

I made a list of things I'd like them to add:

Streak bonus for PvP, discouraging people quitting.

Some sort of vote screen for the next map in PvP.

Some sort of reward for winning in PvP.

Fix the strike playlist so it doesn't give you the same one twice until you've done them all.

Add year one strikes to playlists.

Add a lite raid mode with matchmaking and objective markers but worse rewards.

Some system for creating unique weapons and giving copies to other people (user generated gun manufacturers).

A change to the story that acknowledges that you're not the only guardian who did everything.

Some sort of recognition for doing things/completing things first.

User generated gear.

I wouldn't want most of that stuff.

Can't please everyone. Don't you remember playing the same map repeatedly in halo when they had voting?

Why would you want a reward for winning, that's an incentive to quit.

User generated stuff?? No mate.
