It's really odd, Rift. Or at least I find it such. You're much, much more reliant on getting matchmade with people who understand how to play it, I think. Against a team that know when to grab it, and when not to, you can simply get steamrollered.

It might be anyone doing IB Rift needs to spend a little time putting teams together here.

I've got all three weekly bounties already complete and waiting to be handed in on all three characters from last time, so getting to 5 won't be an issue. It just means I might not play for fun much. Which means fewer chances at the decent drops. Boo hoo to me, I guess.

Bit of an underwhelming new content announcement; just another PvP mode/event. I think I'd rather have had some new PvE content, however small (a quest for a weapon) or jokey. And meh to Rift - and I already have what I want from IB in any case, so it looks like it'll be a few months before there's much worth returning to full-time in Destiny.

If anyone's interested, Xûr is with the Vanguards, and has Stand Asides, Ahamkara Grasps, The Ram, a modern chest engram and an ancient gauntlets one.

I'm all for giving Rift a try.

Like most people I've not really tried it, but I'd like to give it a go with a proper team.

I'm interested to see how the 2v2 will work too. The Doubles playlist is pretty horrible in my limited experience. Mostly because its very campy and the winner is usually the team that wins the fight for heavy ammo. If you are unlucky enough that the other team both has heavy and you don't, then it's game over.

I'm pretty hyped for IB basketball. I play a fair bit, it's mixed in terms of playing the objective but I very much enjoy yelling "Jordan" as I score.

Quick hunter question: in this video the hunter is a night stalker, and he's diving and rolling all over the place. Is that a subclass perk or a gear thing?

Both, it's Shadestep, you can apply the perk from the skill tree or have it for "free" by using the exotic helmet Graviton Forfeit.

Yeah, that's what I was hoping for :( Bladedance for life yo.

That said, I'll grab that helmet and see about finding a Purple chest. Looks like it would work well in many situations, and it's more active than my current reliance on invisibility.

I don‘t know why online FPS games even allow lone randos to play objective games like Rift; most of the time, everyone just runs around like mad rats with no coordination or communication, or any attempt whatsoever to actually go for the objective. The player numbers would drop through the floor if they limited objective gametypes to parties of players, but it’d improve the experience no end.

Actually, that’s slightly unfair, as Control is fine with randos. But CtF stuff like Rift can eat a record-breaking dick.

Am I remembering correctly or does Rift scoring go

Ignite Rift > Stopping Runner > Picking up Spark.

I think I played it and given how hard it can be to ignite the rift (or how "easy" it is for a terrible player to get the spark :P) the risk/reward always felt weighted to the defenders.

Something like 300pts for a pick up and 400pts to drop them if they don't make any yards.

Fuck it, it'll be fine in a fireteam. We did it not too long ago for the Red Bull quests. Just take it in turns to collect and dunk. I also got a Red Spectre from the weekly the other day so looking forward to taking that out to the banner. It's an amazing high impact high rof auto and absolutely minces everything.

I meant to post that earlier, but forgot. Doesn't bother me as I have too many games to play anyway.

Dunno if I'll even bother with the next Iron Banner, despite me liking Rift. The glitches and the latency put me off bothering with Crucible, and I doubt any of that will have been fixed come Iron Banner. It was a bit of a mess the last time I played.

Whilst I think that would be the first thing I'd seen that crossed the dangerous line into gameplay-impacting, it's also true that Heavy Ammo and the need for packs and packs of synths is much-overstated.

The high-end PvE stuff has never really been about pumping out loads of Heavy. With the possible exception of the end encounter in Hard Mode Crota's End.
