Dont do it with ghosts or artifacts though as they dont give armour parts. Fortunately dismantled one of each before levelling them up.

Only got 3 armour parts per armour piece after levelling them up. Better to do with a full set as Lyrical says, but the game is still a bit stingy on the armour materials regardless. Should be able to buy them like weapon parts really.

I was actually meaning legendary ghosts take ages to level, but rares dont... Was meaning perhaps it would apply to armour too.... I have 1306 of em so dont need to try.

What do you think for competitive PvP for warlock?

Fast res warlock exotic hat or energy from res PvP hat?

I'd like both for trials but warlocks fast res is on hat not cheat

For Trials, I'd say fast res is pretty much essential for two of your team.

This was by far the toughest trials session I've done. Almost every first round match was against people that have gone flawless and every match was either r really close or we would get completely murdered. Managed 6 wins

You'll be happy to know Gorf that I now have a fully levelled Alpha Lupi on my Titan

Also I farmed the fuck out of court of oryx and got about 50 armour parts in about an hour. It was far more efficient doing the lowest level runes than anything else, as they can be soloed and soloed fast.

Now have over 100 armour materials. This is in total on 3 characters. Fuck knows where my parts have gone. Infusion most likely with its 10 per infuse! Ridiculous cost of armour materials, probably to promote getting the armour at high light rather than infusing to get the light up

Edit: Bugger. Warlock got a 310 IB Rocket Launcher out of the rank 5 package. It has Grenades and Horseshoes but the other perks are a tad lacklustre. Oh well.

The community at large is usually great in this, but sometimes also shit.

I've had so many great times teaming up with randoms on Patrol to kill Taken Champions or do Public Events, or had a brilliant matchmade Fireteam and then spent ages with them doing Strikes.

But sometimes you get some twat in your team who seems to want to spend the entire Strike just sitting around doing nothing, presumably waiting to be spawned at the boss fight at the end.

He might be on a quest to kill so many yellow bar enemies and so many enemies using his super in one strike. It's part of the subclass quest line.

Or he could be a dick.

It is very hard to find ways to do some of the quest objectives if you've not got a fireteam and headsets. Spent 20 minutes nearly killing three yellow enemies, then letting my friend nova bomb them to death, then collecting the orbs and finding more enemies to use my super on so he could collect the orbs and get his special. We had to repeat that three or four times for him to have generated enough orbs, and I'm guessing LFG isn't great for finding that kind of thing.

In news that comes as no surprise, IB Rank 5 package rewards seem to be pretty variable. My Titan just got a 310 ghost shell - marvellous!* My Warlock got a 318 Ashraven's Flight fusion rifle, which is obviously a good level and will be useful for infusing, and my Hunter received a 312 Bretomart's Stand (think I'll stick to my Ruin Wake, ta). I think that first IB of the new run spoilt us/me really, what with it dropping Nirwens left right and centre, and having such a good roll available for purchase. But this run has been massively underwhelming for me in terms of material rewards.

Broker, why don't you just add a bunch of people off here and invite them into stuff when they're not otherwise committed? You're right that much of the game is tough/a bore without a full fireteam, but, to state the obvious, being all squadded up with comms is what the game's about.

* Edit - I went to orbit afterward handing the bounty in and a pair of 312 IB legs dropped. Classic Destiny error.

^ tbh some of those quests where you have to generate X number of orbs etc. are probably not worth it for the rewards that come out (usually a class item?). Think I just played normally and those kind of quests get done by accident.

Anyway doing the refer a friend? I managed to rope a friend to do it with me, if he ever gets on, I want the Duo Dance emote more than anything in the universe.

Got my Titan to 5, was given a 310 Ghost and 313 Chest. Although I had to do the log out/log in to get the Chest.

Now for the Warlock and Hunter. Haven't yet had to hand in a single Weekly bounty to get there, either. Warlock currently 4, Hunter 3.

It doesn't matter what level you are/how well you do when it comes to drops. It's just RNG - and there's a lot of that in the reward packages, too. The only skill/effort is in meeting the criteria - downing Oryx, getting to Rank 5, whatever. Then it's down to luck what you get for it.

Edit: except within the partners they sometimes set, like the rank banding for drops in SRL, or the different light ranges in NM/HM King's Fall drops. But that doesn't seem applicable - or at least, not strictly so - in this incarnation of IB.

I'm alright, it was more an example of the kind of things that are easy to do if you have friends playing or a place like this to find people. But if you've not got those things then they might account for people acting weird when doing strikes etc

I only realized last night that my Warlock has the IB machine gun from a previous IB. It has better range and stats than the raid machine gun, as well as the rangefinder perk. Will have to do some testing, but should be better for crucible.

Not seen a warlock helm drop at all yet, when I've had both a titan and hunter one within a few games of playing. Would like one as my pvp helm is proper rubbish on my warlock.

Got to rank five on my Titan and got the dodgy looking sniper rifle at 313 as a reward. Had a few helmets drop along the way but nothing at high rank (290's).

Warlock is rank 3 but nothing has dropped for him. Not doing brilliantly here! RNG indeed.

I had the shottie drop, but it was well pants. Need the helm really. Well I say really, just would like a helm with decent perks for pvp. The ones I have on my lock are pve based only, which is pointless for pvp.

Got to rank 5 on both hunter and warlock, I got a 316 ghost, 310 warlock artefact. IB launcher with cluster bombs at 310. I I bought the shotgun and Hunter Camelot helm. I might play some more tomorrow but I might also have had my fill.

Won one game and we only had 5 all game. Went into the next game and we still had 5 for 90% of the match, they had a guy who must have been lag-switching coz nobody could kill him.

We lost that one.

I backed out and went back in and went into a match where the opposition got a storm caller ridiculously early and it seemed like one after the other in perfect sync the other team chained their supers until hey presto the storm caller got his super back again!!!

Needless to say we lost that one.

Ps. Falling in love with my Warlock for PvP... I only have Voidwalker fully unlocked but nova bomb is so useful and satisfying in control/Iron Banner and that melè is OP.

So, year 2 n00b question. I've an exotic weapon I want to upgrade by infusion. I need an exotic shard (from memory) - what's a good way to get one? I'm at 287 if that makes any difference.

There are only two ways: disassemble an existing exotic item, or buy a shard from Xûr at the weekend (cost: 7 strange coins).
