Destiny: FIN

So I just bought the Legendary (Destiny, two expansions, Taken King) Edition on PSN for the relatively small sum of £25 the lot and it appears to come with some booster to level 25. So, as a noob is this something I want to do? Presumably it makes a lot of the early game content trivial and won't I be denying myself the experience of levelling through that or is this Bungie admitting the 'real' game is the end game stuff so rush to it as quickly as possible?

Play through it all. It doesn't take long compared to endgame, and if you don't play through it, the few narrative threads there are will have even less meaning. Like, what's the point of Oryx if not for Crota? Why revisit the Vault of Glass when you never visited it in the first place?

Admittedly, it still won't make that much sense when you don't do the raids in order (and, even if you do, there's no gameplay point), but I'd say it's worth a run through the main storylines just to eke out as much context as you can for the grind that will ultimately follow. Also, a lot of it is just good fun.

Yeah play it through once - the story maybe still bobbins but the new quest system means the main campaign actually makes sense and a lot of the story missions are a lot of fun and you will naturally reach lv40 if you just play the content as it becomes available.

The lv25 shortcut is a bit pointless in my opinion as it doesn't level up your class abilities at all it basically lets you do is use better gear - you'll still be lacking somewhat in power

Thanks chaps, that kind of confirms my gut instinct which was to play it through as originally intended. I know there's now a wealth of content in Destiny but I might as well experience it all since, you know, I paid for it, and there must be a reason you start at level 1. It seems an odd design decision to even offer the boost but I don't know how the leveling works (for all I know it might be pointless and gear is everything) I thought I'd ask.

So Gorf, I'll join you soon in another space based, endless timesink.

There aren't goons in this, though. Right?

Plenty, but not of the sort we used to hunt. Main difference is that these uns don't have local to pollute - I'm sure they would if they could. Oh, and no 300-man fireteams taking over contested territory, so... yeah. Not such an endless war really. More a TV series with lots of repeats.

I think the level boost is really for your alt, or second alt, rather than your main. I do get why you'd want to do that.

Play through it once, and play with those other noobs if you can. An experience shared and all that.

Also noobs don't forget to buy your 3 of coins from Xür before he departs and also hammer that sparrow racing for future infusion fodder before it's gone on the 29th.

I'm at Level 21 if you want to hook up at some point footle/untogether? I've been playing through the story content as I figured it would be more worthwhile for getting into the game rather than just boosting to 25.

I've found some of the story missions tricky but still manageable. I have no idea what's going on though generally story wise. Something, something crota, thingy, the black garden blah blah.

I'm playing a Warlock. Seems fun so far.

Whilst gear is everything I agree that it must be mainly for alt characters, the experience of playing from level 1 is important if you're not great at FPS games or you're out of step with Bungie's Halo/Destiny combat. It's not the best story, but there's tonnes of fun missions.

Send me an friend request (ps4, I presume). I'll be at forty fairly shortly after getting home from the holidays, but levelling is far far quicker in this than it was at launch...

Will do (yes I'm PS4). I'm 22 now and have just done the Black Garden quest so will press on and try to level up. Would be nice to do a strike or two with some forumites.

What's the rllmuk clan called? I got this for my new PS4 the other week after sinking over a thousand hours into it on the 360 & not being able to import my characters between systems, so have been working my way back through everything all over again. Surprisingly good fun not relying on the trusty load-outs I'd built up & exotic & legendary drops actually being exciting again.

1000 Yard Stare has very high aim assist, can res-snipe with its high impact & is the de facto standard PvP sniper right now. You ideally want the Longview SLR10 scope on it too (as found on the vendor roll) as that increases the aim assist even further.

The Conspiracy Theory that you get from completing one of the questlines is a max impact max range shotgun straight out of the gate, although shotguns have been nerfed quite hard with the most recent patch so it's not quite as powerful as it was.

So I played destiny when it are out, got to level 22 before stopping when it started to ask me to replay missions. I have got the taken King and want to play through Croats, house of wolves and TTK in order but can't see how you do this. It's sending me off to talk to people to add quests on the map screen but these appear to be TTK. Is there a way of playing the story in a relatively linear fashion?

Look at your quests, you should have a dark below quest and house of wolves quest to follow.
