Destiny: FIN

Seriously? The moment to moment shooting is at the heart of the pleasures that Destiny brings and is why, despite the game's failings in some other areas, I find it difficult to settle into any other game - the combat elsewhere just doesn't feel right, or anywhere near as satisfying. This is Bungie's A-game, and the little combat loop - the feel of popping heads, the sound and balance of the weapons - is just as moreishly addictive in Destiny as it was in Bungie's Halo.

Opinions and all, but I genuinely fail to understand the sentence above to the extent that I suspect it might be an extended typo. And if Titanfall had come out on PS4, it would have done very little to affect Destiny's success. It's just far too limited in scope to have the legs Destiny has had, and will continue to have.

You need to bear in mind that I've spent a few hours massively over levelled playing through the story. They broke it when they changed the experience system, which detracts from any moment to moment shooting. I suspect titanfall would have screwed up the first three months, making the remaining nine months of year one much harder.

But even massively over levelled, the core shooting mechanic is still the best & the compelling reason to keep playing ( aside from another round of RNG Roulette from the Raid ).

Going back down to Patrols & making heads explode with Firefly, etc.

The experience system is absolutely fine now, up until you are trying to higher than 310 ( or higher than 300 I suppose, depending on your luck / raid team ). The blue drops scale quite well with your level until around the 295 mark, and then it becomes a bit more reliant on RNG.

This is so much better than having the only good drops in the Hard Raid, which are obviously not guaranteed, i.e. VoG or Crota.

Titanfall has to be one of the games with the largest disparity between level of prerelease hype and actual impact on the gaming landscape on release. The argument that it would have been some kind of large disruptive source if it came out in PS4 as well is kind of baffling.

So ended up picking this up again (on xbone this time) in the sale - I forgot how much fun it is (story is still bobbins though).

Up to level 20 at the moment - anyone on xbone who's picked it up feel free to add me and we can maybe do a strike or 2.

GT is mortis316uk

Titanfall did serve to move CoD forward I guess in that they immediately copied everything they had done in terms of movement, making advance warfare a better game for it. The idea of titanfall sounded so cool, I am just not sure what happened to it. Maybe lack of single player?

Weirdly, I found it really irritating that there was no destructible scenery. I liked the pilot movement, and I understand that the engine doesn't allow destruction of that kind, but driving a big robot fucking sucks when you can't smash buildings down.

Obviously the actual problem is that I didn't know anyone else who was playing it, but the smashing was annoying.

It also moved halo 5 forward with much more fluidity and movement. The only thing it didn't move forwards was... ;)

(Though destiny is trying for something different)

Ha sure no prob- wouldn't say it piece of piss - we had only a minute left to clear the adds and we had to manage the synths cooldown. Thing is, once you get the spindle you don't really use it, gathers dust like the rest of my infinite quest exotics

Its probably my most used exotic weapon, at least in the raid.

Aye, it's still the best DPS stick for Warpriest and Golgoroth. And it probably would be for stuff like Sepiks too, if that was still a thing. Apart from largely immobile bosses with big crit spots, it'll probably never leave your bag.

(Except... it used to be nice for one-shotting those balcony Knights on totems, too; though maybe you can one-shot them with 1000k or something now - I've not used anything but Spindle on them for ages, so maybe extra levels have brought other snipers into play there. Anyway yeah, it's a great tool for at least half of KF.)

The first story level of the taken King is so much better it's silly. (Though I quite liked the last levels of both house of wolves and the dark below).

The whole TTK campaign is really genuinely fantastic - I played the whole thing over two days with a massive grin on my face - and don't get me wrong I actually quite enjoyed the original story missions but this is genuinely a completely different and miles better game.

It also gives emphasis to the post campaign grind that it leads into - I've broken the hold the game had on me since the summer for now but clearing the TTK campaign and the post campaign quests had me more hooked than any game I can remember in recent memory.

Come January 7, all players will receive 15 strange coins and 15 motes of light. You can use these coins like currency in Destiny, and as Bungie writes, "buy something nice from Xûr with those coins, but don’t spend all your motes to upgrade one item." Visit the postmaster after January 7 and he'll have your packages for you. Bungie will provide an update in January to remind you about the gifts.

The company is also encouraging Destiny fans to play after the new year, offering an exclusive emblem to players who log on from January 7 to January 10. Bungie notes that you should "complete a playable activity" so that you'll be tracked. The emblems will be distributed on January 12 to those who've participated.

So I've gotten myself to around 280 with mostly drops (I bought a 280 ghost shell, an exotic helmet from Xur and Hawkmoon from the blueprint thing).

I'm assuming what I'm after now are drops of blue, purple and yellow weapons and gear with more light, but where is best to look for them?

Have hit a brick wall with this game. I'm not kidding but I've tried about 25 times to do the mission 'Destroy Crota's Soul'. It says it's a Level 14 mission and I can't do it at Level 18. The constant bombardment of enemies is an f'ing nightmare and those watcher's have too much health. No idea how I'm supposed to do it so any advice would be appreicated. I've tried jumping on that Dragon's tooth thingy on the right hand side but that's only good for taking out a few of the watchers. The rest run and hide in the back so you can't get a line of sight on them.

EDIT - Finally managed it at the 30th attempt by boosting my light and hammering the crystal with heavy weapon ammo..and crossing my fingers.

Xur better have rubbish since I'm not home to buy

He'll have chest of Alpha Lupi for hunters+Titans and something crap for Warlocks.

Or he'll have the new exotics (Twilight Garrison? Ho Ho No).

I'm guessing it will just be a big sack of disappointment though.
