Quite chuffed with my racing haul now, 320 and 317 helmet in quick succession, plus more 315s, got a 319 class item, plus a couple of 317 ones too.

Started to enjoy the racing a lot more when the pressure was off from trying to get that s class licence.

I find multiplayer quests very stressfull, relieved now I can race for fun... And infusion fodder.

Look away now Carlos, the Jolly Holiday quest never ends. After doing the last word part, you now have to go kill more guardians and LV 40 majors. Then do the Bond Bros strikes at 10 levels above the nightfall. With shotguns. This Chaperone better be worth it.

Right, n00b questions ahoy but I'd be really grateful if someone could just clear up the armour/weapons situation for someone who was level 34 at HoW but now finds that even green armour is outclassing his exotic gear.

1) Is it worth hanging onto any legendaries or exotics from Year 1? Or is it better to start from scratch with green/blue from TTK and work your way up?

2) Is there a way of ascending current exotics to Year 2 standards?

3) Do ascendant shards/energy still do anything?

Thanks in advance. Picked up TTK today and impressed with the new story-building angle they're going for in the new levels. Puts Nathan Fillion to good use for once!

1. No - unless you want to use them in regular (non-level-dependent) Crucible.

2. No. Check the terminals on the walls either side of the entrance to the Vanguards' room to see which of your Y1 exotics are available to buy again at Y2 (light 280) levels. That's how you 'upgrade' them.

3. You can exchange them for glimmer at the Speaker.

Y2 is best thought of as more or less a clean break from old gear.

Cheers, I'll get on't. I'm still clinging desperately to my fully upgraded Hard Light, stuck forever at 170 damage, poor sod. Just now reached level 40 though so I guess that opens up whole new avenues for me. Is it worth joining any of the three factions that invite you?

Also SRL is great fun! What a neat addition to the game. I've come first twice on my shitty default sparrow and been rewarded with a shiny new one. How do I do tricks? And how do I change the colour of my exhaust?

You need a trick sparrow to do tricks. Afaik all the ones that are given during SRL are trick sparrows, and the old Tumbler's one too. You hit a direction on the D-pad while in the air after a jump and the usual emotes become tricks.

You can buy exhausts from Xûr when he's about.

Had some decisive bits of lag during Trials over the weekend, which was unusual and a bit of a pisser - it normally feels more stable than other Crucible activity. I'm not sure about this one - I've traded with another sniper often enough, but here I could have sworn he didn't shoot me, and his kill didn't even come up in notifications afterwards.

Might have been a simple trade, though. But it felt... odd.

Game said misadventure. Which I would say was a bug of some kind. But generally I think snipers were behaving somewhat weirdly before I left. Seems like this is still the case with the new patch. Something is slightly off with the aim assist.

I don't really get sniping. Or maybe I just don't get Destiny sometimes.

I think it was to do with a bit of rubbish floating in the 0G of the level. Seems like the bullet hit that and you were hit in the head by it. You can see it floating away when you get up.

My tagname is Balbarian741 and I am looking for people to do a quest from Zavalla on Phobos. Whats the easiest way to guarantee a good fireteam. I have tried the lfg sites but most people on there seem to want to do raids, iron banner and trials of osiris. If anyone can help me find friends on this on game and help me out in general that would be great.

I was moaning about this a bit last night. Convinced I hit someone in the head but nothing. A couple of times with body shots too where no health came off. I was also booted and then reinstated to the team twice, once with my orb off the map!

Maybe Destiny was falling over a little.

Nope, sounds about right. It's the shittest quest in videogames. Needlessly grindy and completely random. Keep at it, the sword is amazing but man, I wanted to self harm by the end of it.

SRL almost cost me another joypad. I seem to be slower, despite not doing anything different, I'm just slower than I have been, with others catching and overtaking even though I'm hitting the gates. Also, other players seem to be able to knock me off with ease, whereas when I go near them it's like hitting a brick wall.

I have a vid where I stuggled to win (I did though) but one particular player I was trying to pass would SUDDENLY start lagging all over the place, still to upload it.

Also had races where I clearly finish first... But, places me 4th.

In other news, my lowest light helmet will be 317 (at this moment in time). Have built up a collection so I can decide the best way to infuse them, SRL has been a god send, think all my space sodies (soldiers, in case naebody here ever played at being sodies when they wur wee) will be 318 with the best gear, probs 317 when I need to bang on the touch of malice for last 2 raid rounds.

I got a 319 helmet and class mark drop earlier. Was only last night I hit rank 3, so bit chuffed over that. Also had a 310 primary exotic drop on the last win I needed for the book too (turned into a Last Word btw).

Cheers to Jim, Spatular and Harsin for giving me a hand with the last win I needed. Despite you saying you didn't really help - you did, as it meant I didn't have 4 random dicks trying to knock me out of boost gates, into walls and lord knows what else.

I'm not bothered about completing the wins needed for the book/emblem - I doubt I ever will now, as everyone seems to be super fucking aggressive the last day or so (and also coincidentally a bit quicker than me). It's enough just to have a potter about at rank three and place wherever for the helmet and class item drops.

I got a 320 Bright Helm today - that's a 320 helmet, the best you could ever hope to get out of HM Oryx (and which I'll likely never get from him), for coming 4th in a race. Must be weird if you're a relative newcomer to Destiny and having stuff like that drop during your Sunday afternoon ramble in the old jalopy, then seeing what lengths you have to go to to get all the other bits of armour over 310 while you struggle on with some blue shit.
