Lyrical: I can't imagine that they intended the Jolly Holliday quest to be completed merely by finishing races. The big substantive difference is that people aren't out to kill you repeatedly - so you never get to even use the gun that you're being tested for, let alone that you get 3% rep for finishing a non-combat activity... last. Seems obvious that's not right.

In our circle of chums I think 5 have cracked (inc me) to join the 4 already playing

All bought a PS4 too. Taken king got good reviews and chums said (and were right) that it's satisfying gameplay to enjoy while chatting to chums. Most nights you can log on, enjoy solid shooting mechanics while in party chat.

Guys, just quickly doing a favour for a friend here - basically he wants to set up a team for the king's fall raid, preferably fairly inexperienced players like himself, and get some attempts set up. He's not an FPS master, but he's persistent when it comes to getting these things done.

PS4 Gamerta / ID thing: BobbyWisely is what you'll want to add if you want to team up and go for raiding shenanigans. Just send him a message letting him know you're interested, he'll sort it out from there.

I wouldn't be surprised if it was intentional. The completion stats must be far lower than any other exotic quest, and if it's a carrot for people to play SRL then why not let it happen? They've just nerfed shotguns anyway, so it's not like it's going to be chaos if they basically give the gun away.

I certainly hope that's the case. If not then they should give me a few days to get it finished before a hotfix.

Turns out Bungie can't do maffs and the weapon changes were way out. E.g auto rifles that we thought were due a 7% buff are actually getting a 0.7% buff!

And the high RoF ones are getting a 0.04% buff. What's the point? Nutcases

Yeah the auto rifle buff basically didnt happen. Lot of people already found that part out before that twitter post.

Yeah, basically auto rifles are still crap, and pulse rifles are still amazing. Only real changes were to shotguns and fusion rifles (both became worse in pvp it seems, but damage was increased slightly in pve to compensate).

In other news, there's a new dead ghost in this patch which they sneakily added. Here's how to get it:

There's supposedly more too, but not been found yet. These are a new Exo Stranger card, a new Osiris card and a new Legends and Mysteries card.

These could obviously hint at new events to come, one possibly to do with Osiris and another to do with the Exo Stranger, who has been mysteriously absent since vanilla Destiny.

The tron one looks the best, but as you say, if its not as good as the ones we already have, there's not much point.

Edit: Just noticed doing the With Finesse and Speed quest (part one can be easily completed doing Regicide on normal btw if your wondering where to find Taken Ultras - the ogre and the cabal dude count, so its quite quick) - Court of Oryx runes now stack when fully charged! No need to throw them away from now on due to lack of inventory space. \o/

PUBLIC SERVICE ANNOUNCMENT FOR ALL SRL RACERS

Don't spend silver on the Toolkit that guarantees a new sparrow. If you have the Ravensteel, Swiftriver, or a Xur upgraded one, then you already have a better sparrow than that toolkit would offer.

Also, you'll get one just like it by completing the Racing quest chain anyway. Guess which mug got the hideous pink one from the toolkit he bought? <_< I am rather fucked off that I spent actual money on something not as good as what I already had. That should have been made clear when purchasing.

Still, the book to track your fastest times and whatnot is pretty cool, if a bit expensive for what it is. And the new sparrows do look good... apart from the pink one.

Further announcement.

Speak to the woman who sells the race book, insect it and press x on challenges you've done. It fills in for free!

You can wear it with your Tron/Speed Racer.

I love the sleek lycra look of the best racing gear - especially when it's trimmed with blue neon. I was walking round the Tower this evening, shimmying through the crowds of people returning from raids in their frumpy, lumpy brown-black outfits - little clumps of compressed misery clutching their malformed Hive-themed weapons. 'Old men in cardigans,' I thought, and pushed past them disdainfully as they stood smoking their rollups outside the working men's club cryptarch like I was on the way to an exclusive nightclub for F1 champions from the 49th century. Actually, I'd placed fourth or below in most of my races, but they weren't to know that. Because I looked so fucking cool.

Because I looked so fucking cool. That's all that matters.

I've seen many people ram me out of a speed boost, only for them to completely miss it themselves. Sometimes they even fell off, which makes me laugh.

The SRL book btw has all three class' helmets, a shader and an emblem, as well as boots, chest and arms that are not class specific. Pretty cool really that it covers all 3 classes in one I thought.

Of course I unlocked the hunter and warlock helms first mind :hmm:

I've done all the steps of the racing license quest, bar the last one which says it rewards a legendary item, but its obviously the helm. The ones you get from that quest are not affected by shaders though, which is a bit sucky :(

I'd been having reasonable success, usually top 3 or thereabouts but then last night I actually discovered / remembered the dodge buttons & came first or second every race from then on.

I need to make the most of it before other people start to use them too, it's a complete game-changer, gates I used to miss by fractions I can now hit & it's a life saver on the turbine blades when you get it wrong.

The few shortcuts on the tracks help too. There's a sneaky one on Venus.

Andy, you can jink left and right with L1/R1 and L3/R3.

Are you actually having fun with this Mark? I am still away and haven't tried it but sounds terrible. Not exactly making me feel like I am missing out.
