Some of my favourites:

Fight Club - Dust Brothers

Event Horizon - Michael Kamen & Orbital

Moon - Clint Mansell

Twin Peaks - Angelo Badalamenti

Recently been getting into Goblin - the Zombi and Suspira soundtracks are immense.

Keep meaning to get the District 9 OST as well, some great music in that.

And to the OP: if you haven's already, track down Unnatural Histories II by Coil. It has their (very unsettling) original music for Hellraiser, before Barker decided to go for a more traditional orchestral score.

Off the top of my head:

Anything by Morricone with a special mention for 'A Fistful of Dynamite' and 'Once Upon A Time in America'.

'Apocalypse Now' for the dialogue as much as the music.

If you like Hip-Hop 'Hustle & Flow' is good and The Game's 'Stop Snitchin, Stop Lyin' is a pretty shitty movie but an awesome soundtrack.

'Scarface' because it's so 80s it hurts.

More recently for anyone who liked 'Garden State' then 'Nick and Norah's Infinite Playlist' should be a safe bet.

I'd forgotten just how good that was. 'Farewell to Cheyenne' from Once Upon a Time in the West is my favourite Morricone though, there are a few good variations on that throughout the film.

Watched Requiem For a Dream for the first time yesterday and thoroughly enjoyed the soundtrack to that, as I did with Moon, the only Mansell I'd heard prior to this. Who'd have though some guy from PWEI could be good at music?

That's bloody brilliant. Is the whole score of similar quality?

I'm sure you know the 'Paris, Texas' soundtrack, VS:

Tried to track this down but no luck - do you have any samples floating around?

I'm obsessed with Jon Brion lately, after rewatching Magnolia. That, Punch-Drunk Love, Eternal Sunshine and Synecodche are all amazing. Such a great producer, and he's got his own style, which I love.

Yessssss, love it. Heard it years before seeing the film, which is always a bit weird when you get around to seeing it.

Always loved this song, a standout on one of my favourite soundtracks:

Fourteen year old Keith Chegwin on vocals. For real.

13th Warrior

Deep Rising

Robocop

Wrath Of Khan

Blue Thunder

Innerspace

Predator

Commando

Broken Arrow

The Dark Knight

The Omega Man

Loads more. A lot of Jerry Goldsmith in there, the man was a legend. His music could elevate shite like The 13th Warrior into something else.

I remember buying the soundtrack to The Hudsucker Proxy on CD years ago when it had been deleted. Having watched the movie and enjoyed the Aram Khachaturyan Spartacus music, I went in search of this deleted sountrack and found it at the Cinema Store in London. I paid £15.95 for it at the time but when I got home to play it I was dismayed to find that the whole soundtrack lastest no more than 27 minutes!?! :P

I just looked up the soundtrack on Amazon and two retailers are selling it for over £50 - ouch!

I've really gotten attached to Road To Perdition's OST over the last few years. Really made the film for me; tracks like Ghosts, Just The Feller, Grave Drive, Farm - I'm sure you understand; it's absolutely brimming with that classic Thomas Newman sound. I think he nails getting a really melancholy sound.
