PGR 4

Found the demo excellent overall, having to be in mad focus-mode trying for the platinums was tense but it was probably (slightly) easier than PGR3.

I did find the fucking sticky-hit collision detection on the metal barriers a right pain in the ass though- it was more than likely set up to minimise the smash-into-wall-to-turn-fast brigade, but it is strong and forces you to steer away from the wall more than you would like to, at speed this often results in you lurching across the track, trying not to over correct (or smash into the other racers).

Still, it looks lovely and (apart from the sticky hits) plays very well. Lookin forward to getting the full game.

The cars seem as solid as usual. The in car view being the usual hit and miss IMO. Some cars have great visibility over the dash, others, particularly the Ferrari in the demo obscuring half the screen. Realisitc maybe, but means it might hinder my plan to play the entire game in car. We'll see.

Although I'm willing to admit that given that I'm a Forza fan this could stand me in good stead for the more cautious approach required.

I think they need to inlcude a 'seat adjustment' tool, so you can raise/lower the camera in-car. I love the in car effects, the noise, the shakiness, there's even reflections of the dash lights in the rain droplets on the windscreen. That's attention to detail for you. It would be a shame to lose all of that due to a restrictive view.

Your second comment baffled me...do you think that a more cautious approach is needed for PGR compared to Forza? I think the other way around. I think without the car damage, PGR is more focussed on chucking it about and being far form cautious.

How? Did you wheelie all the way down the Nurburgring straight? Or did you park it on the back of another car.

Dunno. You don't need a straight, you just need gentle turns.

I'm gonna try to wheelie an entire lap of the Nordschleife when I can be bothered to drive myself crazy.

YES to seat adjustments :(

The second comment is in relation to the snow covered track. Given that I'm used to something like Forza I am prepared, and capable, of driving a smooth line, easy on the accelerator and brake to avoid skidding. My point being that in the snow it may be that driving like a nutcase does reveal there is very little grip, but that's not really how I approached what I expected to be an extremely slippy track.

You could do it in Test Drive, so why not PGR? Not that I've played PGR4 yet, so I don't know how much of an issue it is. I do know that I had to change from in car view to external view in both TDU and PGR3 because it was so much easier from the external view.

Haven't been able to get one measly multiplayer game going yet. Anyone else? It just sits there on the matchmaking screen.

Population doesn't seem high enough yet we did setup custom match via the party system last night though and had 4 of us and another 4 joined pretty quickly - Very pleasant they were too ! The Americans seem to love the bikes way more than the cars !

Now then, now then!

I actually quite like this game! which is amazing considering I hated MSR, PGR2 , PGR3.

the handling is fine for once. I couldn't get on with the other games.

so, its a purchase once i've completed Forza.

At the same time, you can tell this game has been quickly put together and booted out the door.

As for the amazing weather effects.. were we not doing this kind of thing in Wipeout? its just white dots everywhere.

You still haven't reasoned why it's rushed, young Goat Keeper. Is this another of your posting rubbish for the sake of posting rubbish things?

How dare you. Or something.

PGR4 does not look very special to me, or feel that special.

OK its the demo, but it must be a close representation of the final product this late in the day.

I just think the team have been on a Deadline to make the Xmas period. This could easily have been released in Spring.

Happy Mooseyguts?

I'm still going to buy this in December on the cheap.

It is close enough, especially when moving.

Plus to say the game was rushed out of the door is comical, to me it is one of the most polished and slick games I have played in a long time. Perhaps only beaten out by the amazing work Bungie put into Halo3 and all of its features.

You can tell that from the demo, it just oozes quality. PGR3 looks well wonky by comparison.

Not a case of keeping me happy, man. I just don't see what's rushed about it.

Stop getting your knickers in a twist.

To come out and spout your drivel about the game not being finished, when the Demo is all you have to go by is pretty weak, even by your standards.

The finished game oozes class (not something you are all that familiar with, by all accounts) and is a superb package.

When you realise that Goaty hasn't played Monkey Fucking Island, his opinion becomes slightly easier to disregard.

No offense, mind, but if there's one thing the Gotham games don't lack, it's polish. Even PGR3 was comprehensive and pretty, and Bizarre have admitted they rushed that one out to meet the launch deadline.
