Exciting Wiitails

Don't the people getting huge amounts of points via this exploit feel a bit guilty about it? I mean, I'm not sure of the moral or legal stance on pirating something you can exchange for pretend money you can only spend on virtual copies of real world game cartridges that are no longer available to buy first hand (breathes) but the extent to which some of you are pushing this is taking the piss. I got enough stars to trade for a thousand Wii points, or one N64 game, and I felt guilty after that. In fact I felt so guilty that I stopped pressing refresh as soon as I hit enough stars for a thousand Wii points, even though I could have continued doing it until Nintendo's sluggish failsafes kicked in.

If Nintendo can sell us the same game a dozen times, I don't see why we can't celebrate our birthday a dozen times.

While I agree with this, I only used the method to get the Wii points because they aren't releasing anything worth buying. Between that and pining for Left 4 Dead, I also bought a 360 I never would have gotten if Nintendo had had a decent Christmas line up.

In fact I already had 1900 points in my account, and I still haven't spent the ones I acquired through dubious means. Those points have been sitting in my account since the start of the year, because there's nothing I want to spend them on. Even that blobby Wiiware game isn't out until next year, and it was touch-or-go for a while whether that would even get a Wiiware release.

I don't know what the hell Nintendo are playing at, but when I can buy two well-reviewed month-old games on a console that's older and yet far more technologically advanced the Wii for the same price as a Wii launch title, there's something bloody going on.

Have you got Cubello (spelling...) on WiiWare?

It is said to be particularly good.

As for your earlier point I hadn't considered it at all, until I said to my wife that I wish I still had the email and she aaid "But that's stealing!" and I said... "Oh yeah..."

Can anyone reccomend a good SD card?

A nice one.

Not too expensive.

I am one of the knights who say 'Wii!'

Or, if you're feeling flush:

I don't know how important the increased read/write time is for the Wii, but Extreme3s have always served me well in my cameras.

I've been using a Nintendo RGB scart cable with my Wii and SD TV since it came out and it looked great, but have just got an HD TV.

The Internet channel (youtube or the BBC iPlayer for example) look terribly blocky, as do N64 games. If I get a component cable and set the Wii to 480p, does this sort that little problem out?

Thanks

Looks like Nintendo have found out about the free points. Got this e-mail a few hours ago:

Dear Mr McDowall, thank you for your email.

During a routine maintenance check we have discovered unusual activity on your Club Nintendo account. While we investigate the situation your account will remain pending until further notice.

We apologise for any inconvenence caused and will contract you in due course.

Kind regards,

Club Nintendo Team Leader

I didn't even e-mail them in the first place and there are a few spelling/grammar errors, but the header is valid.

They're going to contract you in due course? Jesus, I didn't know Nintendo had any links with hired assassins.

I got my Mario Galaxy soundtrack on Monday, but the box was cracked and splintered. I hope they don't ask for it back. ;)

Shocking, isn't it? :)

I only managed to get 500 Wii Points. I'll be adding 4000 tomorrow so it's no big deal if they want them back.

I can't log in to Nintendo.co.uk. My Wii Shop account seems to be working okay though. I just hope they don't do anything to that. I must have spent over £200 on Virtual Console/Wii Ware games.

Oh nonono. This is like a nightmare. Christmas Eve and I get this bombshell to deal with. I can't help it. I love Nintendo, they know how much I spend on their stuff because of all the points I've logged, but I'm greedy. I'll admit that. Hey, I'm only human.

So when this guy comes along with a trick, a little scam to gain some points and buy something worthwhile from the Nintendo club I say 'yeah.' It's not as if anyone gets hurt from this little misdemeanour. So I buy a CD, just a CD and now they're setting the goombas on my back. I get put on some kind of blacklist. Guys in Mario costumes turn away when I walk down the street.

Hell, I didn't ask for this heat. I'm only human. Jesus. I'm too young to dieeee!!!

Has the Wii stopped being shit yet?

You're on the list too, sonny.

So what are they going to do to us? There's nothing on the birthday email that says you can only claim the 50 stars once. We exploited a loophole. They're not going to sue us or something, are they? Will my nintendo club thing be locked out forever? Will my Wii still work properly? Oh, the shame, the shame!
