therev
Are those really the scores. Yes. The review of Yakuza says - "...it deserves to be mentioned in the same breath as those much-loved but little-bought games upon which Sega built, and indeed lost, its former empire..." therearerules
Dead Rising 8 Test Drive Unlimited 8 Yakuza 8 Every Extend Extra 8 Starfox Command 7 Saints Row 6 GTR2 9 Lego Star Wars 2 7 Bullet Witch 6 Contact 7 B-Boy 4 Gangs of London 3 Rhythm Tengoku 7 Mario Hoops 3-on-3 7 Real scores, none of this fake guessing stuff. So it looks like I was closest with the scores, being only out by 1 on dead rising. But really, who wouldn't predict 7/10 for a review score? BeeJay
I think Edge starts scoring games lower when the machines they are on become more popular. I'm referring to the DS scores. If the game is on a struggling machine Edge will score it higher. FACT. I think you've got a point. But don't we all have the same thing to an extent. Us Brits love an underdog. The DS has so many quality games that it's hard to really pick out 10/10 games and hold them aloft as bastions of gaming greatness. However, when something truely great shines through a generally dull outlook it's easy to get carried away. It's depressing how many 7s and 8s are being handed out to 360 games though. Beertiger
Test Drive score looks promising, hopefully my sub copy will be at home when I get back this evening. What I really want to know is if the handling has changed significantly from the Demo (which I'm not really holding out hope for). I presume that that won't be mentioned though, they'll obviously mention the handling I would imagine just not in relation to the demo. Still I can't believe they would give it an 8 with that handling... It's an Edge review, they won't mention the handling at all. They'll waffle on about every other pointless thing. With an 8 you'd have to assume they've fixed the handling, surely no driving game has ever scored highly while leaving the driving part out. Beertiger
In fact this is the only comment in the two page review about the handling model, something that is crucial to a driving game and is a pile of dog doo in TD:U There are more accurate, supple and entertaining simulations of these cars' handling out there than Test Drive Unlimited's, for sure (although with driving aids off its more than adequate, with good road surface feedback) but there's no better emotional simulation. That hints that they may have updated the handling a little bit as the demo had no road surface feedback at all.

I think part of it is down to the machine itself. When reviewing DS games, you have to consider if a game is good because of good programming, or is it good because the DS itself is so brilliant. Case in point: Trauma Center. It's brilliant BECAUSE it's on the DS, whereas its foibles would be far less tolerable on another machine. That's basically as clear as mud, but I'm tired, and I know what I'm getting at anyway. They're right about Yakuza as well.

Karzee
Dead Rising - 8 Every Extend Extra - 8 Marvellous! The games buying drought is almost at an end. I don't buy Edge but a lot of you say that Edge marks things conservatively, so an 8 is very VERY good isn't it? Quite surprised to see EDGE and IGN (notorious for high marks) having the same score. senor_herer
9 for GTR2 is a good result and I really liked the first one. I just hope there's the possibility of a 360 port as I expect it'll need a ninja PC to run well, my PC coped OK with GTR but I suspect GTR2 will cause it some serious problems. pledge
Bit surprised by the Rhythm Tengoku score. One of the games I have had the most fun this year. Played it much more than EEE. Only compaint I have is that it is maybe a little short.
megateto
It's causing quite a stir in Spanish forums the fact that the Spanish edition of Edge gave Gangs of London a 7, which doesn't help them considering they've been guilty of wrong translations and stuff..
