I always loved that running gag whenever someone makes an important decision: sit on the bench by the river, stand up resolved, run through the pigeons triumphant.

And the episode in which George tries to save his Frogger high scores from deletion, the Woody Allen "these pretzels are making me thirsty" running gag, the backwards episode... Great show.

What's everyone's verdict on the last episode, by the way? A fitting ending or a damp squib? Personally, I found their ignominious comeuppance far more effective than any Friends hug-and-cry tear-jerker.

The Opposite is one of my favourites (that hasn't already been mentioned.) How George succeeds, Elaine fails but Jerry stays even. And the fantastic line, which likely won't work well in print:

"My name is George. I'm unemployed and I live with my parents."

I've only seen the first 6 seasons though. Can't wait for the rest. :(

The episode that builds up to Kramer becoming a pimp :(

One of the greatest moments in anything, ever. Also from that episode.

The whole dialogue when Kramer's sleeping on Jerry's couch is class.

"Can I sleep with you?"

That's another running gag, George and Frank in bed together is amazing.

I thought the ending was fine, on the DVD commentary for this episode they mention that they (Larry an Jerry) considered ending the show the way this episode (The Subway) ends, that would have been better.

Lawrence Tierney as Alton Benes is gold.

Where's the Jackie Chiles love.

The bit where George goes to his mum in hospital and the female nurse gives the woman in the adjacent bed a spunge bath.

Then the next episode everyone thinks George and Jerry are gay and George goes to vsit his mother in the same hospital and the same thng happens, except it's two men this time.

Not that there's anything wrong with that.

My favourite episode is the one where Kramer finds the set from the Merv Griffin show and sets it up in his house. It's got a fantastic story for each of the main characters:

Kramer - Being a chatshow host, including taking commercial breaks

Jerry - Drugging his girlfriend so he can play with her toy collection ("My father died from a long and painful bout of..." "SUPERBOWL!!!") and then inviting the others round ("When I saw George on the street with an 18 pound turkey and a giant box of wine, I thought, what a coincidence, we're just about to eat")

Elaine - The sidler ("I'm Lou Filerman, I'm new here")

George - Running over the squirrel ("That clock's 5-minutes fast" "Why don't you run it over too?" "Zing!")

DVD commentary on the last episode? Where have you heard that?

Yeah, I saw that too. Great stuff.

But who was that playing Georges dad? I thought it was always Jerry Stiller....

He played Georges dad for just one episode, I think he died and they brought in Stiller, Larry insisted they reshot that episode with Stiller.

DVD commentary on the last episode? Where have you heard that?

No, on the episdoe "The Subway", season 3 I think.

Is it wrong that I've never seen Seinfeld, yet I have every episode of Curb Your Enthusiasm and consider it one of my favourite ever comedys?

Hmm, I see a 32gb mega-torrent... Should I?

It's wrong that you've never seen Seinfeld, but people who like Seinfeld don't necessarily like Curb and vice versa. Get the first 3-4 seasons from the torrent and go from there, it does get funnier as it goes on and the characters establish some history.

It's very wrong. Get on the case. Now!

But don't judge it on Seasons 1 and 2 alone. I'd say it hits its stride with Season 3 but it is worth watching the first two because of the references later on.

Oh, and watch/listen out for Larry David. I don't think he ever appears as a 'proper' character but he appeared as a lawyer in a cape and I heard his voice in one episode the other day (asking for his kosher meal on a plane).

He does the voice for Steinbrenner the Yankee's owner. Then when Kramer goes to LA the door to his apartment opens and you can see a load of the writers as extras, including Larry David and Larry Charles.

Fuuuuuuuck! The penny drops!

Brilliant - "George let me tell you something ... From 1973 to 1982 I ate the exact same lunch everyday. Turkey chili in a bowl made out of bread. Bread bowl George! First you eat the chili then you eat the bowl. There's nothing more satisfying than looking down after lunch and seeing nothing but a table."

And:

Mr. Steinbrenner: A calzone huh? Pass it down here. Let's have a look at it . I want a little taste. Come on, come on. Pass it down here. That's a good boy. Okay. What's in this thing?

George: U . Cheese, pepperoni, eggplant .

Mr. Steinbrenner: Eggplant. Yes. That's a hell of a thing. Okay let's get back to business. Okay here you go. Very good, very good. Excellent. Excellent calzone you got there Costanza. Okay a little jealous now. Okay

lets go . Ok last week..... You know that eggplant was very good. Everybody out. I got eggplant on my mind. Costanza, get me couple of those calzones right now. Pronto. Move out. Big Stein wants an eggplant calzone. Must have one. Everybody out. Out!

Heh, just remembered the one where George finally gets to drape himself in velour. <_<

Loved the one where Jerry gets given a suit, and has to buy the guy a meal in return, and he just keeps ordering soup.

(I'm probably coming up with all the shittest episodes)

You can't pick a bad episode mj2k.

This is genius.

[Restaurant]

George and Susan are having dinner with Ken and Carrie. Carrie is

Heavily pregnant. George is eating spaghetti with his usual decorum.

SUSAN: A little baby girl?

KEN: Doctor says it could be any day now.

GEORGE: (through mouthful of food) So, Carrie, you and Susan are

cousins. So your baby daughter is gonna be Susan's second cousin, right? So what

does that make me?

CARRIE: Doesn't make you anything.

GEORGE: (jokingly) Well, so, legally, I could marry your daughter.

George laughs and shovels another load of pasta into his mouth.

"Newman."

"Jerry."

George: Let me ask you something... What do you do for a living, Newman?

Newman: I'm a United States postal worker.

George: Aren't those the guys that always go crazy and come back with a gun and shoot everybody?

Newman: Sometimes.

Jerry: Why is that?

Newman: Because the mail never stops. It just keeps coming and coming and coming. There's never a letup, It's relentless. Every day it piles up more and more, but the more you get out, the more it keeps coming. And then the bar code reader breaks. And then it's Publisher's Clearinghouse day.

Jerry: All right, all right.
