Steam - UI Overhaul Out Now

Recommended Posts

@Nathan Wind I bought Day of Infamy. So far I'm not really feeling it as I was expecting it to be more similar to DoD but it really is just Insurgency with a WWII skin on top of it. Was hoping for something a bit more arcadey. Oh well, there's always Battalion 1944 some time later this year (I hope).

Anyway, let me know if you want to play some time. :)

Oh, I enjoyed it - I never said I was any good at it though! It's one of those games I played for a week, enjoyed it a lot - it's super tense for a turn-based game - and then either life or another game intervened and I would now have to relearn it. I keep meaning to go back to it though!

Thanks for Stardew @wavey. Need a change of pace after 2 months of The Witcher, about halfway through the DLC now and feeling a bit Witchered out.

I got a refund on it, mate.  Didn't like it at all and the player base was seemingly made up of arrogant twats that took it far too seriously.

I'll stick to Darkest Hour for my large scale WWII multiplayer kicks for now (on the odd occasion I fancy some).  Nothing has bettered it.

Superbrothers: Sword & Sworcery EP

If anyone here hasn't played this, get it. The soundtrack by Jim Guthrie alone makes it worth playing

Thanks for Invisible Inc @wavey!

I'll pay it forward by offering The Witness when I get home. Anyone that fancies it PM me and I will send the code across later this evening!

EDIT: The Witness gone!

A few hours in now and I'm slowly warming up to it. :P

I would but it's just not Red Orchestra.

Edit - from last August -

"It's alright.  Still a bit janky, being early access, but it plays pretty well.  Feels a bit like Darkest Hour.  Looks like shit.  Within my first half hour of playing I encountered a player I would very much like to punch hard in the face - some whiney Scottish fucker.

To sum up, I probably wouldn't pay fifteen quid for it if I hadn't just paid fifteen quid for it.

Edit - Alright, sesh two was a bit better.  Nicer bunch playing, better teamwork, less mic spamming.  Graphics still shit.  Doesn't feel like Darkest Hour really.  It's somewhere in between DoD and RO - quite fast paced and almost arcadey in some respects, but as brutal as the RO games.  Much smaller in scale than RO though, focussing more on close quatres squad stuff.  It's ok.  Can't help feeling I've played it a hundred times before in different guises though.

Edit edit - Got a refund and downloaded Darkest Hour and DoDS again.  Both miles better than Day of Infamy and both still have people playing"

What a coincodence! Illyria, Sie, Flams and me just played some UCH and as it turns out; that's included in that multiplayer humble bundle as well! meaning I have a spare code to give away. :)

You can be cool like this:

Or do other stuff...

Is it local multiplayer as well? If it is...oh yes.

Yes all the multiplayer. Up to 4 people on the line or off it.

Me and my nephew play that. It always ends with him throwing a tantrum.

When I play with @VN1X I'm the one throwing the tantrum.

The humble bundle is great, I ummed and ahhhhhed about the top tier but I've been having a blast with helldivers.

Ultimate chicken horse is a blast even if I find it hard to stick a jump.  It's going to be the first game we play at my games night this friday.

Very much enjoying DoI now. Took me a while to get to grips with it but am now consistently able to finish in the top 5 of the scoreboard (that's my metric for being able to enjoy a game lol). This will tide me over just nicely until Battalion 1944 or perhaps even the new WWII CoD.

@mr_woo @PK do you own it?

Oh for god's sake.  That looks exactly like DoD:S, which I loved.

I don't need any more fucking games

Yeah it took me a few hours to wrap my head around the slower playstyle (it's more Insurgency than DoD so there's less of an emphasis on running and gunning) but for me it's proven to be the perfect game to unwind after a long day at work. You just go prone and shoot heads! It's a small community but that means the majority of players will help you or at least know what they're doing.

Does look improved from when I tried the early access.  What's the co-op stuff like, @VN1X?  That wasn't live when I played it.

Oh haven't given that a go yet. Mainly just been hopping on the quick play multiplayer stuff. Co-op was really fun (albeit flawed) in Insurgency so I can't see why it wouldn't be the same for DoI as well.

@VN1X Yeah I own it but barely even played it.  Not getting a chance to play much these days due to work and family stuff but might get a chance over the easter weekend :)
