Cave Story

Spelunky

edit:

Ori and the Blind Forest

Super Meat Boy

Electronc Super Joy

Super House of Dead Ninjas

Giana Sisters

La Mulana

Rogue Legacy

All a bit different, and as mentioned Maldita Castilla is pretty much as much G'n'G as it gets.

There's Maldita Castilla, one of the best freeware platformers available and very  similar to Ghouls n Goblins as well. There's also a paid version of the game on Steam that expands on the freeware version.

Yep, I'd second that recommendation.

And I totally trusted them, bought two very expensive shitty games because of their shenanigans. Especially the Turok 2 review was very suspect, not only did they claim it was somehow a vast improvement over the original, didn't they also publish their review months before the games was even out using unfinished code or something? Never forget! I want my money back, edge!

You can buy Turok 2 again now! :P

Holy shit where the hell did you drag that old post up from

I still say that the edge Turok 2 review is suspect as fuck :P

Yup got the 25% offer code in my inventory. Which means I can get the game for like 11eu! But I'm not in the country from *tomorrow till' next week so I will buy it after.

*I'm already showing signs of Zelda withdrawal.

I was tempted by the Vita original months ago but never found the time to try it (I bet the handheld game's pretty cheap now too :P )

Meanwhile, Nier: Automata just got released: http://store.steampowered.com/app/524220/

@clippa Ok if I split out your posts into new threads? So many hidden gems in this thread that should have their own threads.

That seems a bad idea, the games aren't available for people on other platforms, and the most eyes on them are going to be in here.

Initially yes but with quite a few eventually they get released later on the consoles or mobiles. Think they would get more eyes outside a megathread?

I do think some sort of "Hidden Gems you may have missed" thread would be a good idea.

Then again I suppose this thread is essentially that.

Ignore me.

I don't mind at all but they'll probably sink without a trace anyway.

Maybe I could start a thread called "Roguelikes/lites" and put recommendations in there. Pretty much every game I get wet over fits under that category unless it's a shmup and we already have a thread for those.

New threads are good, I guess the target audience is the PC Gamer but I feel every game should have it's own thread to get attention from everyone else on the forums even if they might be a console gamer.

See my thread on Desync.

More like... Desink! :hat:

Sometimes threads will not get posts but just views only, I am sure more members probably clicked on that thread to read the opening post than if it was buried in a megathread. We have no stats to prove that though but just my hunch.

I think we're too small to create threads for every little game we post here. But by all means, go for it!

Added that Immortal Redneck game to the ol' wishlist.

I personally think a roguelike thread would be good idea and there would be enough games to keep the thread going. While there would be a lot of PC only games there seems to be an upsurge in indie games coming out on the consoles as well, albeit slightly later in some cases, so it would be a useful resource for those who like this genre but don't check this thread.

A bit niche, but if anyone enjoys the kind of mellow comfort hidden object games can provide, here are a few spare keys for some Artifex Mundi games (from this bundle):

Clockwork Tales: Of Glass and Ink *G9Q6-T40ET-MATDH

Grim Legends: The Forsaken Bride *G35F-E8GGE-WMJ8E

Grim Legends 2: Song of the Dark Swan *FJ6T-W9QVT-V0C4G

Mind Snares: Alice's Journey *GQKN-AE7E6-V00ZK

To confound the bots, I've removed the first characters - add the number two to the start of each of them to get a valid key.

Just in case anyone missed the thread, Thimbleweed Park launched last night. My first day one purchase in quite some time.

This maybe a port of Bayonetta coming to Steam.  Sega released a Bayonetta flash game today called 8-Bit Bayonetta

http://store.steampowered.com/app/567090/

which people just thought was a April Fools troll by Sega but apparently the Sega site link above was hidden in the Steam achievement images of this flash game.

Strong evidence or an elaborate April Fools?
