Banished is tricky but it's not exactly hard. I would recommend against getting both it and Tropico at the same time, they kind of overlap a bit.

Cheers, I'll see if I can bash through Tropico before the xmas sale and maybe pick up Banished then.

It's not impressive to have a big library, you also need to have only ever installed a few and only played a few of them.

No. Install all of them so you can get to them in a moment's notice. Buy a hard-drive especially for it.

Then only play Football Manager.

Cheers, been thinking of getting this and at that price its well worth a punt.

If it says "you cannot buy this in your region" when you try adding it to basket, use hola and go through the brazil vpn. You can still buy it fine using paypal and my key worked perfectly.

Endless Legend, Styx and The Banner Saga are all well worth their asking prices: an interesting, varied 4X game; a wonderfully-focussed stealth game; and a glorious, punishing SRPG filled with difficult decisions, respectively.

Yeah used that to get DA:I last week, and worked again here.

I think DA:I got taken down though, probably due to so many people getting it on the cheap

Argh! I'd really like Endless Legend, but foolishly I have checked the requirements before buying it and I don't even meet the minimum recommendations. Apparently an AMD Athlon II X3 445 Processor is no longer state of the art? Who knew! Bloody PC gaming..

So it's your fault then? Right, then you owe me DA:I :quote:

:P

Anyway, has anybody tried Starpoint Gemini 2?

You should do what I do and not know which CPU you've got or how powerful your graphics card is supposed to be. Never be troubled by specs again!

Why the fuck wouldn't you install every single game you buy? If you don't do that, how on earth can you procrastinate over the massive list and ultimately play none of them? Are you mental?

It's not just that you need to install them all. You also need to start up each game just to get the graphics settings configured and then never play them.

The irony being that even though the game is installed, and will never get played, you still knowingly run steam clean just to remove the redist files because ... you know ... you wouldn't want files taking up space unnecessarily.

Day 2, and I've bought nothing. I'm probably just turning into a cheap bastard, but nothing is making me go HOLY SHIT NEEED - though I guess I'd have bought Alien and Mordor if I'd not already gotten them at a good price.

Everyone get Alien.

I haven't bought anything, either. In part that's because there hasn't been much to interest me, but mainly because of the games that are on my wishlist, I reckon they'll be cheaper at Christmas and I'm in no rush.

Besides, a number of titles are cheaper elsewhere (Mordor is £12.42 at nuuvem, for example.)

It's one of those games that, no matter what changes you make to the gfx settings, the framerate will collapse as soon as your character steps outside. I think it even collapses if you switch off all the gfx settings to low/off and reduce the screen res to 720p. It's that fucked.

Holy shit, mine doesn't even get past the Bethesda logo before crashing. :lol:Edit: Got past that. 1600p everything maxed seems to hit 50-60fps, frame pacing seems OK, only using one of my GFX cards though.

This is a game where it may need to be locked at 30fps and run with at max settings or downsample* it.

*not sure how down sampling works

Tempted to get a new strategy game after becoming bored by the dissapointing beyond earth. Either Endless Space, or Europa Universalis. Any thoughts?

Both are excellent but if I had to choose one, EU IV is VERY different from Civ so you might prefer that as a change. It's also better than EL I think, though this is because I prefer that style of strategy to the 4X kind. Go to this thread for some discussion of EU (mixed in with discussion of its stablemate, Crusader Kings II, and the odd mention of some other games from the developer that aren't as good). http://www.rllmukforum.com/index.php?/topic/218470-paradox-strategy-games-megathread/page-20

It's been patched to properly run at 60 and everything - but not even Layte's PC can do it, it seems.

The frame-pacing is fucked at 30, so that's just a really, really ugly option.
