GTA:IV Official Thread

Had a go on Forza just before getting back to GTA, and kept diving out of cars for the first 10 minutes as I tried changing gear.

And what have they done to the bike handling in IV? It was the sweetest thing ever in San Andreas.

The way the cars handle in bonnet cam view is sublime though.

WKTT and PLR are quite funny and definitely the stations I listen to. As of yet, nothing has quite matched the levels of amazingness VCPR reached but it gets close. The "Al Con Casa" bit is brilliant as is that Judge and Justice thing. "Science is good when it teaches you to turn a million ungrateful foreigners into glass"

My favourite channels are The Journey and Electro Chok, but I try to give all of them a listen even if I don't really like the music. I don't want to miss the chatter and commercials inbetween. I do feel that the playlist is a bit shorter than in other GTA games though, it seems I hear the same songs repeated quite often and I haven't played THAT much yet.

This isn't a story/mission spoiler at all but I'll put it in spoilers anyway

who are the perverts ? There's locations for pigeons, friends, health, armour, cars and perverts. I've tried to go to a few of the pervert locations but not spotted anything yet. Are they random dodgy folk you meet up with or people you have to kill ?

I stick with The Journey or Liberty City Rocks. With those sunsets/rises it really needed an 80s Soft Rock station. Maybe I'm old/have poor taste/rubbish but a lot of the stations all sound the same. Disappointed a little with the talk show station as I seem to have heard it all within a couple of play where as in the original GTA3 I seem to constantly be hearing new stuff.

I would have dearly like a Fernando Martinez/Lazlow return. I can't recall hearing Lazlow although reading on his website it mentions he hosts a show on Liberty 2.0.

For those saying the missions have no more freedom than before- in general I guess that's true. But there are exceptions if you're smart.

I had to take out someone as usual, got his photo and needed to search the police database. Called the cops, they got out and said that they responded to a call while I snuck into the car and drove off. Lost the wanted level and searched the database and found the location. Turned on my siren and drove full speed to the location while the other cars moved out of the way. When I got close I saw he was outdoors in a fenced off area with loads of guards. I could either call the cops for a distraction or I could go ahead myself and shoot my way to the target and kill them all. Usual GTA4 options....or...I saw there was a rooftop that perfectly overlooked the building. I wondered if I could find my way up there.

I went around the side of the building and found a fire escape ladder just out of my reach. I ran back, got my car and parked under the ladder, then climbed out, jumped on the bonnet of the car and now could reach the fire escape. I climbed on and ran all the way to the top of the building and climbed onto the roof. Perfect. I had a viewpoint to kill everyone. I took out my sniper and let off with the first headshot. Now they were all shooting at me, but I had a massive advantage of height and distance and managed to take all of them out with one single shot each to the head. Killed them all, left the target till last, and climbed back down $7000 richer and not a shot that had come anywhere near me. Awesomes.

The assassin missions were really open- first time with the guys in the hummer I followed them and got ambushed. Second time i just blew up thier car with an rpg before they got a chance

For real?

I tell no lies.

I found a really simple way of getting the 6 star wanted level achievment last night.

I just drove a car up into Hove station and along the tracks to the (still locked) second island. Drive around in the tube tunnels for five minutes because the cops don't come down there. 5 minutes passed, job done, achievement get!

That achievement is everything I've loved about GTA since III. I'll be doing that badboy the hardway and loving it.

You can't fly helicopters when drunk  Went out in one with Roman but had to abandon it for a car. A cars hard enough to handle anyway when drunk but it would have been nice to try and fly a helicopter.

I've done it the hard way. Trying to escape them by car, which was eventually getting riddled with bullets. Jumped out before the damn thing blew up and tried to outrun them. That didn't work, but I lasted about eight minutes in total. Achievement get.

God can we please have checkpoints in the next GTA game? Please please please. Failed the first race, why must I spend 5 minutes driving to it again. Boring.

I wish Rockstar would implement a quality over quantity approach with the missions. There are loads but half of them are rubbish. I'd gladly take less if they were a bit more involved or thoughtful. Same goes with the size of the gameworld really. I'd take a gameworld half the size if it meant there was more interactivity and interiors. The novelty of exploring kinda wears thin when all you're going to find is a pigeon.

I did the 6 star thing with the chopper and decided to see if I could make it back into my safehouse and save the game with the cops chasing me. I didn't. Crashed right outside it. But when I got back from the hospital, there is a helicopter parked outside in the yellow box, because that's where it crashed

I've got all three islands now. I think 6 star is impossible, because I was rampaging for ages on 5 stars and it refused to go up. I'll start a new game to grab the 6 star achievement. I can see this as the first game I go for all 1000 points on.

How would you get six stars if you unlocked all three Islands? (not at Vemsie, asking for me)

In the old games it was shooting down a number of choppers/killing a number of FBI agents.

Not me. I like doing missions and side quests and stuff, but shooting every damn pigeon or finding every hidden package is a no no.

I really like the Seryoga - King Ring song btw. Eastern European hip hop ftw!
