OK, bit of a rewind for most of you (very early mission but still possible spoiler)...

The mission where you have to smash a shop window for Vlad and get protection money. Pick something up using L1, aim and throw etc. Firstly, it was so dark I couldn't find anything to throw. When I did find 'something' some distance away, when I got back to the shop it had disappeared from my hand. What's all that about? Took me ages to do such a mundane task .

I did the same !

There was nothing flashing on my radar while i was on that mission, god it pissed me off.

Mine just froze again in Party Mode. I got media server turned off as well. It froze just as Vesh said "I got that freezing thing too".

Go to 720p and see if it makes a difference. My game froze a couple of times in 1080i, but hasn't done so at all in 720p. One of said freezes was bizarre and sprung back into life after I left it for 30 seconds (possibly more).

I was on my way to buy a burger from Burger Shot last night, and I was struck with this wonderful, exciting feeling. The missions are disappointing to some, the lack of some features (check points), and stuff like that, but it's awesome to think that this game is going to be the first in a series. A lot of thinks are absolutely perfect; R* have clearly got the 'building a world' thing right. I think of the GTA IV 'expansions' and I get weak at the knees.

I think a problem is that anything apart from shooting is quite a niche thing but i would love for them to do some DLC based on the physics.

Its amazing that rather then a computer and programming language they have this sandbox world with which to use as a constuction set for any game type they want really. Theres probably a lot of hidden potental in that.

Objects seem to disappear out of your hands if you hold them too long. I stumbled across a construction site and picked up a brick ready to smash it over the head of one of the workers, but it vanished about 10 seconds later.

I was trying to get comfortable with the cover system before but I find it a bit awkward. I was experimenting with it in a non-pressurised, non-combat environment. Obviously it's not as refined as Uncharted but Nico moves so very slowly when he's in cover and it seems very picky as to what other bits of cover you can roll to. I kept trying to take on a 3 star wanted level while hiding but I think it's probably best just to leg it. When you have police approaching from all angles a bit of cover doesn't do much good anyway.

Does anyone know if your relationship with other characters really affects the game in any significant way? Like if you haven't seen someone for a while and you get a thumbs down icon next to their name appearing above the radar?

Yeah, just trying it in 720p now. Crashed on the loading screen! I've had about 10 freezes today alone, which is annoying, because prior to today I had one.

Ah, bollocks! I just hope they patch this as quickly as they did Bully 360. It's ridiculous that, if they couldn't delay the game, that there wasn't a patch ready to go the first time you play the game on a network enabled PS3.

Just wondered if anyone listened to the 1UP Yours podcast from yesterday? What they were saying about the disconnect between the story/characters and the gameplay made me agree somewhat. I'm more involved with Niko's character, and because of the immersion in the world I feel like doing the 'right' thing as opposed to just killing everyone. I'm a bit dissapointed after choosing to save someone's life in one of the early missions instead of killing them, to find most of the others so far I have no choice but to kill in almost every situation. Doesn't seem to fit with how I see Niko atm, as a guy doing what he has to do to get by, but feeling like he should pull away from the gangster lifestyle and just help out his family/friends.

I know that's what the GTA games are all about! I'd just have liked a bit more leeway in how I can go through the story. Instead all the 'good' characters like Niko for not being a psycho, but when he gets a mission involving killing everyone he's all "Sure, no problem!".

I'm still really enjoying it though. Roman is great - he slurred accusations of me sleeping with Mallorie as we stumbled around outside the Irish bar, before turning to "I love you cousin!" and tripping over a patio chair, falling flat on his face

Now she's revealed who she is, has anyone tried meeting the "Undercover Lover" character on Love-Meet (with the blurred face)? I thought it might be her and was going to try meeting up and have a go at her for lying! Maybe that's too ambitious.

I'm playing the PS3 version. It's been amazing and flawless for me up until today. Now it keeps hangin on the initial load screen, and I had a freeze in a cut-scene. It's a massive shame because it's an incredible game otherwise.

I've been happily playing my UK copy in my US PS3 in HD but now when I've brought it to a friends house it won't work at all in SD. Simply a message saying the game is not playable in this display mode. Is there a way around this? Do other games have this problem?

Your display setting when you install the game to disc probably determines if SD textures or HD textures are downloaded.

I've run 27,000 miles apparantly, which is clearly rubbish. I guess this is a bug.

Are people getting freezing on the 360 version or not, i saw on some site it affects both but only seen ps3 related freezing on here ?????

Does wiping the save file solve the issue or will it happen again ?

If you do enough chummy things with the individual characters they give you stuff, or give you access to extra things.

If you befriend LJ he'll become your mobile gun/ammo/armour buying emporium. You can call him up anytime and go meet him for cheap weapons.

Edit: So not really "meaningful", just pretty handy. I've got no idea if it's possible to lose these buddy priviledges by pissing them off too much though.

You disabled the media server in network settings? It should get rid of the loading issue.

Interesting that a lot of people seem to be getting more issues today, suddenly, myself included....

I'm 10% in. I had a pistol and a better gun from a little jacob mission but don't seem to have them anymore. I have $350 so not enough to buy a gun from the shop.

I tried stealing one from a policeman at the airport but didn't get very far with it before they caught me. Is there a better way? Oh and killing people and taking their money only results in about $5 at a time which ain't enough.

Manageable in a car with the headlights on (until I crash, taking them out ) but it can be bloody awful on foot in an alley, for example. I had to chase a guy onto a roof and it took bloody ages to find the stairs. I don't think NTSC machines can output a PAL signal.

Same here. The mission were I had to use ladders a few times was a complete nightmare. Got very frustrated at it.

Can you operate the forks on the fork-lifts in IV? I got one last night as part of a race and I tried all the buttons with no success, but I was trying to stay in the race at the same time. I also drove past a truck with a huge chain attached that reminded me of the pick-ups in San Andreas and filled me with hope.

My mission requires that I have a gun since I have to kill some people in a room (it's called Shadow). The other mission also requires I have a gun I believe.

Jacob should have given you a gun on his first mision. If not, go to the weapon store.

I've been to the gun shop AND I've had jacob's gun too. Now I have none so I'm guessing that when you get arrested you lose all your weapons? Is that right? Or do you lose your weapons when you die?

I could go to buy another gun but I only have $300 and the cheapest gun is like $1200.

You only lose them when you get arrested.

You lose them when you get busted, not when you die. I've taken to running when the police have a gun in my back, because I'd rather die than be arrested.

Steal a cop car, that'll get you a shotgun. The people you have to kill will provide the rest.
