My brother almost had a stroke when he discovered that.

That's lucky. Chances are he'd have ended up with decreased motor functions and not have been able to play GTA.

Since Brucie is fast becoming one of my favourite characters in the game, I want to present him with this award that I've just invented.

To the MAX!!

I know I said he reminded me of Gary Busey, but he actually looks a lot like Arnold Vosloo.

Right tried to load this today. I've not played it much so had only just finished 'First Date'. The game tried to load and wouldn't, just left a black screen with First Date in the corner.

Tried to quit the game and the whole system rebooted. Turned the machine on and off again and tried once more. Same thing. I've just deleted the game install and save game and am re-installing. Think I'll play without auto-save from now on.

Anyway all this after the game froze on me twice in the first ten minutes. What the fuck is this game doing to my PS3 (60GB US)! And is it even safe to load the damn thing without risking the whole PS3 having a permanent hardware failure?

Sort it out Rockstar!

Great MP games earlier with whichever rllmukers I was playing with, especially the 15 Ice Cream Truck race(s).

So much good dialogue throughout SP too - "Welcome to Burger Shot muthafuckerrrrrrrrrr!"

Brucie rules too.

Managed to track down a copy of this this morning... and then had to go out to buy a 360 to play it on!

Just finished up now after a 10-hour session, stopping briefly to get beer and pizza in.

This has been my longest single gaming session for years!

I'm about 20% in, and it's been an awesome experience so far, too many great moments to list, but one highlight was a shoot-out in a warehouse, me and LJ against a gang. The cover system works really well.

My only criticism so far is that they seem to have totally ballsed up the way the bikes handle, I can't get on with them at all, which is annoying as they were my main mode of transport in Liberty City Stories.

On the plus side, there's a fantastic mix of old-school american muscle cars and modern sports cars to choose from. I found a BMW M3 look-a-like and a 360 Modena copy that are both awesome to drive (and actually go round corners quite well).

I'm about 15 hours in I think, and made it to the second safe house, met Manny too and done his first mission. Loved Roman's reaction as we're driving to the safe house - I like that tubby bitch.

Had a weird thing with Little Jacob, he rang me to go bowling but when we got there, there was no trigger to start off the "Take Jacob back" so we just wondered around and then I reloaded the save game.

I don't know if it's the game making me feel like not committing a crime but I've yet to be arrested. I tend not to shoot random pedestrians or mow people down etc. and so I tend not to have the cops after me. Fuck, I even pay at the toll bridge.

The option of taking a taxi to places is genius.

On the mission where you have to escape the back of the warehouse with Jacob and a few cop cars are blocking you in, after a shootout I managed to grab the closest cop car & drove off with Jacob pwap pwapping with his mini SMG out of the window ... but I didn't notice the car had a shot front left tyre so as soon as I tried to turn the first corner, I just carried straight on into the wall  There followed a ridiculous escape where I had to do turns at 3mph but somehow managed to lose them.

Yeah!

I love the engine noises. It feels so cool being able to pull away, taking it really steady, listening to the growl.

I'm so used to pressing a face button for brake, there's been so many moments where either a corner has come up unexpectedly or someone's pulled out in front of me and I've ended up slamming straight into them with my full beam on!

Also, the voice acting and scripting is fantastic, I had to turn the subtitles on for the Rastas though, couldn't understand a bloody word!

Edit: Also also, when it was raining last night, there was a flash of lightning, then a couple of seconds later a deep rumbler of thunder, which caused the pad to vibrate in my hand, giving me a hell of a shock!

Isn't it just?

A few times every session I simply hail a cab and pick some random location for him to drive too, then switch to the cinematic camera, put the controller down, and just watch.

Amazing stuff.

Such a time sink.

I've now played for about 21 hours and am still just below 30% completed - I'm really taking my time and doing side missions, going on dates and nights out with friends, trying all sorts of different stuff. I'm not causing mayhem at this point, I'm just taking in the atmosphere of the city - I can't bring myself to randomly go on killing sprees...sometimes I'll cause a bit of mischief by bumping into someone and seeing if they want to fight, but that's the only circumstance under which I'll kill outside of missions (other than if I walk past or accidentally knock them and get abuse for it). I even called an ambulance for one man who was ailing after taking a beating.

Okay, mine is stuck on the loading screen. It's loading 'do you have protection' and it's just not finishing after ages (long after the music's stopped).

Looks like others have had the problem too:

I'm sure you've tried this, but I found once or twice that I had to press Start or X to get it going after it's loaded.

Edit: Oh, hold on...you mean when the actual mission title is on screen. Nope, haven't had that - I just had to press Start when the pictures were still going. But then maybe it was my imagination and timing which caused the illusion of that having an effect.

I shocked actually given the stresses of the game - i've not had one crash.

Even last night with 15 people held up really well. For me at least.

But SP has died at all. I'm still trying to work out where the most mayhem can potentially be caused. A showdown in Times Sq could be fun.
