Oddly the game advises you to use the regular brake to assist with cornering, which is the most boring advice ever.

Whenever I used the handbrake to turn when I first got the game it totally oversteered, I'll try using it again more lightly.

The mission where you have to tail a dealer and then shoot up the hideout is annoying as fuck.

I keep dying pretty much as soon as I get in the place. I want to rip the door off its hinges so I can peep round the corner. You can't do that, can you?

I need some weapons and armour in the Industrial area. Going back to the gun shop is annoying.

You can shoot the door inward with any gun, means you can remain in cover outside.

Just done one of those missions you pick up from random strangers from just walking around. I'm not going to spoiler it since it doesn't effect the plot or anything.

Anyway, it was the one where a young drug addict girl asked me to take her to get some drugs. I accepted her proposal but the only mode of transport I had was a Faggio so it was just me and her taking a ride, in the middle of the night, through almost deserted streets while her and Nico have a really touching conversation! It just made me realise how awesomely great the script for this game is and how much of a great lead character Nico is. At the end of the ride, as i dropped her off, I wish I could've added her to my phonebook at the end so we could get some coffee and I could help her to get back on the straight and narrow. I really cared for that girl!

You killed her 2 seconds later right?

Dan Houser on Casual games:

http://www.gamesindustry.biz/articles/rock...of-casual-games

Rockstar's Houser not a fan of casual games

While praising the Wii, Rockstar Games boss Dan Houser also declared that he's no fan of casual gaming.

"F*** all this stuff about casual gaming," he told New York magazine.

"I think people still want games that are groundbreaking," he said.

"The Wii is doing something totally different, which is fantastic. We're hopefully going to prove that there's also a very big audience for people who want entertainment in another form, who think of games as being a narrative device that can challenge movies."

According to Houser, too many developers make games about the same videogame-only themes such as orcs and elves, monsters or space. Rockstar instead prefers to make games "about something we could actually relate to. Or aspire to".

Responding to the issue of violence in videogames - and GTA IV in particular - Houser said: "If you don't like any violent content in your entertainment, then I apologise because I do. And I've unfortunately been exposed to it my entire life."

"I agree that the world would be a greater place if all of the guns and all of the bombs disappeared, but that certainly is not in the agenda. If we equally got rid of a lot of books that talk about violence, okay."

Houser did note that videogames are judged by a different standard than films and TV shows, however.

"But if we don’t like these games because they've got content that we’re happy to see in movies and TV shows, then what you’re saying is you don’t like the medium because we don’t have a George Clooney type sticking his face in front of the camera," he said.

"There is nothing in the game you would not see in a TV show, or a movie a hundred times over, so I don’t understand what the conversation is about. We set out to make games that felt like they could culturally exist alongside the movies we were watching and the books we were reading, and hopefully we’re getting close to those goals."

Very interesting. ;)

Agree with Hauser's comments. The unfortunate fact is that games are still seen by many as being children's toys (despite the demographics proving otherwise), which is where the analogy (unfairly) runs into problems with those individuals and groups seeking an easy source of blame for the ills of society.

I shot out the window, climbed into a small room with a health pack in and went in that way. Did it first time with an uzi/shotgun combo. Only shot the door to open it on the way out. For some reason when it said the door was locked I assumed the window was the way in. Didn't even consider shooting it out.

Step up, man. Geez.

Use a grenade or something.

I stepped up.

I was scoping out the area when Manny texted me with some shit about a window. I found an AK, knelt by the open window and plugged one of the dealers in the face. Then his mate came over, and I sprayed his body before jumping down and taking cover behind a stack of boxes. I got a grenade out, peeked around the edge of my cover, and lobbed grenades at the remaining dealers. And then I ran around the building stealing all their guns.

Badass.

I did it a different way to you, and I didn't blow out the door. That's pretty cool.

The first few times, when it said the door was locked I just punched it in and it flew open, leaving me struggling to find cover as some twat pumped a round into me. It was hard.

Does anyone think it's a trifle easy to get away from the cops? I just had an absolute rampage, blowing up about 5 police cars, and shooting about 20 more police, before calmy walking over to a police car and getting in. Avoiding the blue dots I calmly and not too quickly drove through the streets and out of the area of affect. Done that a couple of times now, hmm.

Edit - 4 stars.

I have gotten away from 4 stars before but never 5 or 6. When I had 6 I lasted 24 seconds. ;)

I didn't see the army either ;)

I managed about a minute when I got a motorbike and drove across the gap between the bridge to the second island. I'm not sure if it was luck or that the cops where just surprised to see me on the second island after playing for just an hour. Obviously once we hit the minute mark I was utterly taken down.

If you can get a decent run away from them, and are lucky enough for them not to cut off your escape, then yes - particularly at lower star ratings. If they corner you in the cars though, you're fucked. They use incredibly aggressive driving to force you off the road and pin your car in place. Then it's either be arrested or be killed time.
