Why? Are you just never going to touch it again once you see the ending?

That's always been the case with the GTA games for me. I never found any of them replayable. By the time you see the ending you've probably done everything else in the game anyhow. Hopefully this one's different.

GTA: Camberwick Green.

The Windy Miller vs Jonathan Bell turf wars would be amazing.

I was thinking GTA: Fireman sam for some reason.

How about GTA: All those little animation type things they used to have years ago. Like these 2 + that tramp who lived on a boat. WOAH - canal boats!

GTA: Bertha. Mmmm.

Sold.

I can already visualize Trumpton's Fire Brigade Band doing the opening music.

Just get a headset you fools! ;)

Got one! But I had to keep quitting the game to connect it on the accessories part of the XMB.

Oh and Harry, I almost died laughing when you jumped out of my helicopter flying towards the Empire State building. I was gonna get to the top, but you just coudn't wait, could ya?

Niko is amazing, yes.

The missions are far better than in any of the other 3d GTAs, I would say. They were always a side dish to the main game for me in the GTA 3 games, but I like them a lot more in this. The main thing being that the engine can handle them now, and the combat is pretty decent for the first time.

I mean I only ever bothered with the missions to unlock the rest of the map in the previous ones. Surprised other people played through them all and then stopped playing ;)

Haha, no. I get quite a thrill jumping from large heights, especially with the landings ;)

Oh man, I've been taking my time with this and have only just got to this particular Niko/Roman interchange:

"You may let some Russian asswipe bang your woman without doing anything, but I'm not going to!"

".................................. but you facking did!

"Yeeees, but that was before I knew you cared!"

;)

Characters in this are supoib.

"Oh my goodness me, you really don't get it do you. You just can't seem to grasp it like I can, you just don't seem to understand it like I do. I'm right and you're wrong.

*insert a few rhetorical, overblown questions that have little to do with peoples' personal gripes about the game*

What more do you stupid little geeks want? Do you want your mothers to come in here and play it for you? So the game's not PERFECT, big DEAL, get USED TO IT. I'm sure Rockstar are there right now, crying BOO HOO that a few moaners on the internet have picked up on a few tiny things. The game's not perfect but you're not allowed to express this because it's still amazing. Why aren't there space marines? hovercars?? HUGE FUCK OFF CANNONS AND PIRATE SHIPS???? And why do cars still disappear and why is the actual gameplay rather samey?? Moon on the stick, you fucking lot.

Oh deary deary me."

It's funny, because it's true. ;)

Oh yeah, I think you may have misinterpreted what I was saying, or else I've put it badly. I thought San Andreas was far more arcade-like in its cornering, in that I can generally take a corner at very high speed in a lot of cars in SA and it pays little heed to your momentum / intertia - just apply the handbrake and steer out of the skid correctly. IV is clearly more 'realistic' or at least less arcadey because you do have to think about how fast you're going, which play a huge part. That's not a complaint about how it does it, it's just that it does things differently from SA. In SA I had no fear of a police chase because it was a piece of piss to get away. In Liberty City that's no longer the case - if you panic during your getaway you can easily total the car or at least get yourself into a jam. It makes things more exciting. I am getting the hang of sliding around corners now, but at first I was all over the place because SA had given me too much faith in the power of the handbrake.

My only remaining concern with the cars in IV is that they bounce around a little more than I'd like, and leave the ground with very little encouragement. But I'm sure I'll adjust to that shortly and it'll feel as natural as slinging a Blista around in SA did.

For all the comparisons drawn with Saints Row, there's a lot of the original Driver in this.

The difficult-at-first-yet-ultimately-rewarding handbrake turns, especially at night, in the rain, in a silver hard-topped Stallion, weaving in and out of the traffic to scupper the chasing police, and even watching the radar for the flashing red and blue dots.

When you take a right hand turn, for example, and you really feel the weight transfer entirely to the left side of the car, and you're going at the perfect speed to just about make the corner with little but a scratch on the opposite wall. So satisfying.

Y'know?

I think this thread will get a bit sour next week, sadly.

Next week? You'll all have fucking topped yourselves by then.

I, on the other hand, will still be having fun with the best game ever ;)

Good luck baiting me with that one.

Your posts in this thread are patronising and blind, and also quite cringeworthy. if you love the game I don't see how it's going to spoil your enjoyment of it, so let people talk; it's not a perfect game after all. And if I'm going to be lazy about it, when you have respected posters like Rowan and Ste Pickford expressing dislike I think it's a conversation that goes beyond the usual moaners.

Hey. Pot/Kettle baby.

Regardless I was responding to several points, all rolled into one.

The internet is such a challenge at times ;)
