BUT, for every time I criticise there is a moment where i call a cab, tell him repeatedly to hurry up and he goes

"fuck you man" drives towards the ocean at full speed then bails out"

:0

I'm not even kidding!

Holy shit dude. That is absolutely fucking amazing :(

I still haven't called a cab yet but if you can do that makes me want to do it straight away.

In one of the missions when you are tailing a drug dealer I managed to knock a tramp into a brazier and set him on fire. It's moments like this that really add to my enjoyment of the game.

I can't believe no-one notices the difference in frame-rate between the consoles. My friend's 360 copy runs about 5-8 fps higher than my PS3 version I'd say. About 25-28 fps versus 20. The colours do however look much nicer on PS3, there's not much pop-up and the textures are sharper. Cut-scenes on the PS3 are again cleaner, especially details around the necks and mouths (I saw a little artefacting on the 360), but a bit jerkier overall.

Ignoring the noise of the 360, that's the version I'd be playing if I had the choice.

Mission question:

I'm starting to wonder if, as with the ps2 versions, the quality/durability of your disc drive plays a big part in game performance - I thought the consensus was ps3 had the upper hand framerate wise ? (although there seems to be a lot of "freezing" talk now).

Hey. Played it for a bit today for the first time. The dialogue is really rather excellent, only played a couple of hours but there's been so many great lines. Especially an early one in the intro about Roman's letters to his mother (about all the girls he was banging). And I'm totally feeling the whole 'makes you want to be nice' vibe that Uzi and co mentioned when they first played it.

I love the cinematic cam where a helicopter is filming you, looks gorgeous. The lighting engine is swish but it makes the areas in shade too dark, and the nighttime in general too dark. The headlights, they do nothing etc. Turned the brightness upto full and it's much better now.

Can't wait to get into the big city...damn terrorist alerts. Some awesome foreign tracks on the soundtrack. Like the main theme too.

Frame rate was pretty bad the first time I played it (20fps ish maybe), started it up since and it no longer gets choppy and it runs at an acceptable pace. No tearing or pop-up whilst driving. Barely any loading. Good stuff.

The frame-rate doesn't improve, you adjust to it. I agree that it feels in the region of 20 fps.

Well the first time I played it the game froze up for a millisecond about 4 seperate times just at random points, hasn't happened since. Maybe it's that freezing bug that's going around, but that's supposed to freeze it up completely, no?

For those that find armour too expensive early on in the game, there's free armour lying around.

I just found a set in the north industrial area called 'Fortside'. It's in the middle of the western half of area, by some containers in a parking lot.

I went looking to where you described, but couldn't find it. So was exploring the south of that island, and found some armour on a

building site (wink)

I also found a new weapon on the same island :(

I've also found three of the hidden items, and managed to do one stunt so far.

Anyone offer any advice on the strip club mission? I find the 3 managers then all hell breaks loose, and I die.

I stabbed the first feller in the neck with a knife so as not to raise the alarm, then I took up position behind a barrier, popped the other guy from across the club with my AK, dropped the armed goons and ran out, leapt in a vehicle and chased the third sucker down. You can probably get the third guy before then, but I dilly-dallied and took out all the goons in the club.

Are there stealth kills you can do with the knife, like one stab kills? I'm sure it said something like that but I can't seem to do it.

No, but once you get the first stab in the other person is usually useless to make any noise or do anything else. So you just stab them. And lol.

Hmm, I seem to have hit a brick wall again, on the first island. I've

killed Faustin

and done the first

hitman mission for bruce

along with steal the first car for him. But the story seems to have stopped progressing. The only mission Icon I have on the map is for Little Jacob (

The Shadow)

which I've done and failed once and now I can't seem to get LJ to answer the phone.

I don't want to know what happens next, but it hasn't crashed on me has it?

One of the trailers showed Niko holding an employee in a shop at gunpoint and forcing her to open a safe. Is that just a cutscene? I want to rob Burger Shot.

That was Saint's Row with a Nico skin. Seriously.

My addiction level is The Weekend Has Landed which is quite fitting, as tonight is the first day of my four day weekend.

Mine is 'Bummed in the Gob'. Thought it was funny, especially as it's a saying round here.

Edit: Ah, already been mentioned. I guess there are people around that have played it for the same length I have...

It's quite worrying. :(

Well Ive finally found a piece of Kevlar armour on the map so you dont have to keep buying it. Its here if youre interested (its easy to find but a bit tricky to describe)

On the first island head east from your Safehouse. Head to the piece of motorway that loops around on the South east side. There should be a junkyard type area on the inside of the motorway where it curves (not outside near the sea) You should see it glowing in the boot of a knackered old wreck of a car.

Alternatively if you look at the ingame map its on the L shaped piece of road just under the word Brooker on the Brooker Dukes Expressway.

If I could draw where it is I would.. but I cant :(

Nice find! There is also one

opposite your safe house up on a billboard on the side of the building where the hotdog man is. You need to head up to the over pass and jump down onto the roof of the building and then down onto the billboard. But landing on the billboard is a twat!
