Ha Ha your back! yes they were really good, some fantastic moments in there. Have we worked out yet how I can join in with you guys without invites etc?

No, still invite only, which still don't work.

Voice chat seems a little fragile too, so when I had to leave a party mode game I was hosting last night, there was no way of communicating the fact. Bt annoying.

Rockstar need to get a PS3 patch out. STAT.

I went over the toll bridge at about 10%. I'm a bit worried that doing certain things will make me miss out on stuff.

Would the game have let me kill Vlad if there were still some missions to do for him?

Are we all taking about the same bridge? I meean the one to Manhattan (I forget its GTA name) not Bohan.

I cant believe how much character they've manged to squeeze into the city and it's citizens, I do miss the positive/negative comment reaction buttons though that SA had.

Had my first go on multiplayer last night (PS3) and it's amazing. Just messing around in free roam when I go bogged down in a firefight with a load of cops only for some other player to come steaming through their cars in a lorry, honk the horn for me to get in and he made of with me popping chasing police cars' tyres to send them flying all over the place, amazing stuff. I think im going to wait until I open up all the islands before I go back though as I want to explore the areas properly at first as the story progresses.

Can anyone recommend a good mic for the PS3, also if any one wants to add me for some games my gamertag(?) for PSN is blurie.

Nah, you only do that after all his missions are done.

Right ok, here's my take on this whole thing:

I've been playing this pretty much side by side with my mate in our living room (ie a console each ). Now, the one thing I've noticed is that the order/time you get things can vary massively. I think this is a very good thing, it adds even more to the uniqueness of your own adventure in Liberty City.

All I will say is, if we weren't all reading this thread, nobody would be worried about missing anything, would they?

SO!

Relax, and enjoy the ride, I'm pretty sure you can't miss anything, so just have fun and don't worry about 'missing' stuff!

I see what you mean, but it was a mission early on that hinted there would be some branching that got me wondering about it. It's an OCD thing I'm sure.

Yeah yeah I know what you mean. But, at the same time, I don't care - with this game, I'm never reloading a save. If I accidentally kill a mate/girlfriend/whatever, it's STAYING that way.

Should make a second playthrough fun, at least

I like how resilient the cars are now, and how rare the amazing cars are. Makes holding onto one a lot easier and gives it a point. Driving around in a rare black supercar with a black suit on is amazing. I love walking slowly through warehouses with that suit on, relentlessly shotgunning as I go. Terminator meets Tarantino.

Amazing game, only had a 4 hour blast on Tuesday night but I finihs work at 4:30 tonight and I aint back here until 7 on Tuesday morning, the wife has been warned that she aint going to see me for the next few days as well.

Cant wait.

Anyway, couple of questions for folk.

I have only done a couple of missions so this could just be that I havent reached it yet

What is the story with the phone ? It doesnt seem to have a keypad so how do you phone and random numbers you see or hear. At the moment I have Roman and Michelle in the phonebook so can get them no problem but what about things like 911. Do you get a better phone ?

Has there been problems with online ? I go to multiplayer through the phone and go to quickmatch and I get a black screen with "Loading" in the bottom corner, sometime I hear chat and then it just kicks me back to the single player.

Hmm. Well, I've not found the supercars to be rare, now that I have a Porsche and a Viper sat outside my house. All I have to do is walk down the road and I'll see a fresh one to nick within a minute or two

I take it people have found out how to fix your car when it stops working?

You

dial 911 and works again!

That's got me out of so many scrapes it's untrue. Great in multiplayer too.

You what son? Do the police fix it or something?

Press up twice, once to access the phone and again to get to the keypad. The instruction manual is your friend

There are online problems, and depending on how busy it is depends on how long it will take to load. Im sure these issues are been ironed out as we speak.

Stop picking apart my often incorrect posts!

No,

just dial, wait for them to pick up, and the car will work again mysteriously. Amazing.

That makes no sense at all. Pre-order cancelled.

Jesus  I am a fanny.

I have read the manual as well but I must have missed that bit.

Thought there might be online problems just with amount of folk buying it.

Great game, can't wait to spend some quality time with it etc.

One little niggle though, which I'm wondering if anyone else is experiencing: I can't seem to get entirely satisfactory settings for contrast and brightness. I set it one way and then it's too dark when it's dark and when I tweak the settings the other way it's too bright when it's bright.

I'm, playing the 360 version via HDMI on plasma screen. Any tinkering advice to improve this niggle will be gratefully received.

Im finding some of the missions a little dull now. This is definatly my favorite GTA game but there were many better missions in GTA 3 and Vice City so far. Im on the middle island now 25% complete so im hopeing things change.

Im sorry for asking such a noob question but i forgot to check the box and haven't started multiplayer yet, are there any system link capabilities, having an xbox meet tomorrow for 6 machines and was hoping for a blast, or will we all have to sign into XBL and play co-op that way? mate has a poor broadband connection (512k) so that's out of the question.

Yeah, I'm already on the 360 equivalent of limited. Hmmm. Not game breaking by any means - guess I just need to find the sweet spot.

Really? Expanded is much better.

For PS3, change your HDMI filter from 'Full', to 'Limited', helped a bit.

It's meant to be on Limited anyway. The full setting is for monitors and such.

As Tim said that makes no sense. It would be awesome if you called the AA or something.

Expanded produced the darkest visuals for me so far. What I didn't try though, was setting it on expanded and then tinkering in game from there. Maybe that would work - certainly worth a five minute play around.

Sorry I should have said "for me"- it totally depends on the screen but it's worth tinkering about yeah.
