I haven't tried that yet...the ZIT phone in thing. How does it work?

I'd like to see a list of phone numbers you can tap in for 'comedy' effect. (spoiler them if you post any and feel it's required)

Has anyone posted a 'lol, I jacked a car, pulled the driver out, but he grabbed the door handle as I sped off and he ended up being dragged along until I took a sharp bend and ran over him with the back wheels' moment, yet?

Cos it just happened to me. Twas funny.

Anyone got hold of a sniper rifle yet? Is there scoped sniping? Is it any good? (spoiler the answer if you feel it's required)

I wonder if the tw@ thing is at all inspired by The Warm As Toast cafe in Cardiff? Probably just coincidence, but gets a warm, wry smile from me for that.

Oh, and in the opening credits, one of the artists (or somesuch) is caleld CJ Dick, which nicely sums up what I thought of their San Andreas main character :)

Calm it, Janet.

It's a pretty boring discussion, but a valid one.

I think it ruins everything. It ruins this thread, at least. I want to see wall-to-wall posts about people's adventures in Liberty City, not arguments over the fact that the PS3 versions runs at a slightly lower resolution. What kind of forum is this? Some kind of nerdlinger forum?

I know it is, but come on. It demeans us all.

For the record I think both versions of GTA4 perform below par. I was saying this before in this thread and got shot down by the rabid fan boys. Rockstar are NOT and have NEVER been cutting end in terms of their technology. The GTA games have always looked fugly and dated and run really quite badly and im unsurprised to see this new GTA isn't any different.

:) It's the best looking game I've seen this gen.

I love all the little interactions you can do, the stuff on the internet, manually dialling the phone numbers or looking up someone on the Police Database. There's so many Cabaret acts, Radio Stations, TV shows, web pages, it's amazing they fit it all in.

I've only found 3 bloody pigeons.

It also reminded me of TWAT Cafe.

Is that place still around?

I remember going there for a fry-up on Sunday mornings before playing football (a bad habit) and my cousin used to DJ there some evenings.

Its been the same amongst gamers for years though.

I once demoed the final import release of Daytona USA on the Saturn, to a bunch of people who had the Playstation version of Ridge Racer on import.

I was laughed out of the room :)

Gamers are cunts, really.

The lap dancers are are very ugly.

Yeah. With all Roman's bleating about big titties, fake titties, four titties, I expected their tits to be... well, big. And you can't even see nipples. I want a bigger titties and nipples as downloadable content.

Also, I was chasing a car down the freeway, shooting at him with an Uzi, when I missed and hit the rear doors of a lorry and they fell open spilling barrels into my path. Later in the same chase, I did the same thing with a lorry carrying a load of timber. Quality.

Hehe, well thanks to the fact that my housemate and I are playing side by side in our living room, the magic was ruined as that seems to be totally scripted :)

We need that to happen with normal trucks all the time!!

I was walking across the road when a taxi driver knocked me over. Enraged, I sparyed his car with my Micro SMG, and he tore off in flames, then crashed into a truck and another car at a junction further up the road. A series of beautiful explosions later and flaming bodies run towards me in the dark while I legged it from the po po. Amazing.

I love "Just or Unjust", and the "History of Liberty City" Documentary is superb too. I've actually done very little random GTA carnage.

People find themselves not 'involved' in the world of this? Interesting. I'm totally engrossed - found myself walking about down in the area with all the bridges and steep walls by the docks at 6am, totally deserted, hearing only the gentle lapping of the river in the distance as the sun came up on a cloudy day. It was REAL man.

I've taken to avoiding using the GPS as it hampers experiencing and 'learning' the city. A bit like Burnout Paradise in that regard.

I think we can have a discussion about it without resorting to this sort of tone.

Yeah, I know. I just find it annoying when people try and suck the fun out of things. It happens with everything, I guess, not just games.

I'd just like this thread to be a unified love-fest. I know it's not going to happen. :)

Holy shit. I was just messing around shooting my Uzi and got a two star wanted level. After jumping over many fences on foot I could not shake the police then I jacked a car at some traffic lights then a

policeman that was running behind me jacked another car behind me then I got to a junction and 5 policeman had each managed to jack a car each one of which was a taxi and where all trying to ram me off the road

. :)

Reading Smitty's excellent gameplay reports from earlier in the week, I feared the same would be true for this, but I've had a handful of similiarlly jawdropping moments myself so far.

Thanks. I need to hear stuff like this more often.

I have a tiny ego and a tired soul.

Just did a mission where to begin with I had to get a police car. Fortunately about 50 yards down the road there were two people fighting, I called the police and then nicked their car before heading off towards my destination. They were so involved in the miniature war that had erupted that they didn't notice.

Upon reaching my destination

a van full of flat screen tv's

two guys started shooting at me. I was just about to draw my shotgun and kill them both when the police came screeching round the corner, running over one of the guys and then proceeding to start a gun fight with the other guy. I waited for the whole thing to finish whilst hiding behind my car and then calmly walked up to the van and drove off.

Absolutely fantastic. I love the police in this game!

The new wanted system is great too for moments like this - I was being chased by a whole load of cops after stabbing some bloke at a subway station. I was in a cop car. Got some distance between me and them and spotted a taxi pulled up in a petrol station. The driver must have abandoned it with all the gunfire going on. Ran over, jumped in and waited as the pursing vehicles arrived and pulled up at the car I'd just dumped - they couldn't find me :) I slowly pulled away in plain sight, as cool as Agent 47 after a Silent Assassin mission.

Brilliant, and wouldn't happen under the old wanted system.

I can honestly say that your comments on the game have summed it up more accurately and beautifully then anything I've read about it.

And I'm not saying that to perk you up.

So, an Edge 8

?

No, a 6 like GTA III.
