Brucie reminds me of Gary Busey :(

He's an awesome character in the game, that Brucie fellow. His dialogue is hilarious.

And on the radio I heard an add for a presidential candidate. The add accused him of being a pedophile and then said something about the guy not going to Vietnam during the war, but today he's spending a lot of time in both Vietnam and Cambodia

After I saved for the last time last night, I decided to try to mess with LCPD a bit.

The horrors I saw, man.

Racing down a crowded sidewalk in a pristine white cop car getting more and more red, is oddly exhilarating.

Literally showers of blood.

It all ended with me, in the middle of the street, police barricades on either side, I'm standing with one foot on a dead cop, spraying the rest of the pigs with my Uzi!!!

Of course this was all one of Nico's bad dreams and never actually happened.

I wonder how many Americans know that this game is made in Scotland - or even the UK.

It's such an achievement.

We should be proud.

Yeah i bet hardly any of them do as im told on live most days that america owns my ass and they make all the best games. Anyone link there account to the social club yet? does it take awhile to link as i linked it but when i click on gta4 link it tells me no account is linked.

What do Mafiya games entail?

Multiplayer missions. You and your team (best game we had of it last night was three teams of two) get tooled up and wait for a call. When it comes you all head off and try to complete the mission before the other crews/cops take you out. It's awesome, frankly.

I admit being a bit underwhelmed at first too, but that was mainly because I had no bloody idea what I was supposed to be doing or what waypoint to look for. I suspect there are some gametypes that we won't play much (Turf seemed dull as fuck on first attempts), but Mafiya and C&C will be epic, especially with some larger parties.

Taxi's are a bit of a waste of time really. You just sit there and they move at the same speed as the other traffic.

I like them, man. Especially when you tell him to hurry and he starts crashing shit. That and with the option to "skip", it's a decent feature for when you can't be arsed to drive across the city.

We had fun last night executing people on the beach.

Cool! If you play it with a handful of people, is it just you & your bredren against the cops? One of the biggest problems last night was that I was in a party of two, and just wanted to do missions together - all the randoms we played with were mutes, which was a bit rubbish in team games.

Bonnet cam, bonnet cam, bonnet cam.

How to play GTA IV: The Rules

Auto Aim OFF

Cars: Bonnet cam

Bikes: 3rd person cam

Boats: Bonnet Cam (equivalent)

Helicopters: Bonnet Cam (equivalent)

Niko walking about: Nearest cam

Offically approved by the Uzi-Tyler Police Force. Be safe, play by the rules.

Or alternatively use whatever you like. I drive properly using the chase cam.

I got an achievement for taking a taxi and not skipping time. Sometimes I like taking a cab ride and just listening to music while watching from an external view.

Oh, and why can't you get in a yellow cab and go on taxi missions?? Will I be able to do that later in the game?

Funnily enough, it would seem that the lower resolution more or less completely masks/removes the dithering seen in the 360 version.

Yes, but the dithering appears to be a deliberate filter.

Whether it's a *good choice* of a deliberate filter is probably in the eye of the beholder. I'm ambivalent, myself.

What do Mafiya games entail?

Split up into teams and compete for missions given to you over the mobile phone. You get points for successful missions (take this thing over to there, kill this guy, destroy this thing etc) and for killing your opponents. The team with the most points by the end wins (you can set a time limit or a cash limit).

EDIT: too damn slow. I think you can turn cops on or off in the game options.

Just ask Roman for a job and he'll give you taxi missions.

I've done that already and completed all his taxi missions.

In the other GTA games you could just board a yellow taxi and go on taxi missions. I miss that.

When nights out go bad.. just went for a few jars with Roman, came out the pub pissed, hoped in the nearest sportscar to take hime home.. bang 1 star.. One pissed up police chase later, there are 30 odd mowed down pedestrians, a blown up banshee and Roman running around in flames, whilst my guy collapsed in a drunken heap in the floor.

A little while later I get the call from Roman asking me to pick him up for the hospital... god I love this game

Can I just mention that the mission restart option is fucking awesomely implemented? Thank you.

Oh, and I had the most amazing drunken police chase last night. Total carnage. I didn't even mean to get the one star that started it. Don't drink and drive, folks!

The hand-to-hand combat is appalling but can be completely avoided forever after the first couple of fights.

Sorry, but this just isn't true.

You can kick, punch, block, disarm and pull off counters.

It's far better than it was before.

The vigilante missions are awesome. Police computers FTW.

Last night I had a mission where I used the ingame Internet to ask a man on a date, and then had to blow him away. We met in a diner, where he was wearing a red rose, and we talked about nutters on the Internet before I offed him. Fantastic. More of this, please. And there should be... this is the first occasion where the phone's organiser came into play, and I expect to see it a lot more later on.

I was about to drink drive last night then Roman mentioned its not a good idea in this state, so I headed across the road to the diner for some sobering food. Or I would have had I not got run over crossing the street.

Tell you what else is ace? Walking up to a lady drinking coffee on a park bench, admiring her legs glistening under the sun. Then BAM. Baseball bat to the skull. Bitch dead on the floor - one shot.

Out of interest how many are there?

Not a lot. I think I only completed about 10 of them before Roman called me up and told me the other cab drivers were getting angry at me for stealing their customers, and now he wouldn't give me more missions.

Absolutely the biggest omission though has to be the fact that there aren't any police in the free roam mode! Admittedly, there may be a hidden way of activating this hidden within the slightly confusing interface, but I couldn't find it. If this is the case, it's a completely mental thing to leave out. How much fun would going on four-player rampages be?

I may be suffering from slightly raised expectations with regard to the multiplayer, but getting into the single-player over the weekend, I spent all of yesterday daydreaming about how amazing multiplayer would be and was pretty disappointed, to be brutal.

Police are in free roam. Me and little joe spent an hour yesterday getting wanted levels and trying to survive as long as poss. You don't need to do anything special, just kill people.

This game is so steeped in atmosphere, i feel i could rub my finger on the screen and get it covered in dust and dirt right off the streets of liberty city. Ive become quite attached to michelle i think thats what rockstar were after with this game the player becoming attached to the characters more than other gtas. Niko is without doubt the best gta character to date, hes done alot of shite and does alot of shit in liberty city but you still cant help feeling sorry for him and how he is a nice guy under it all.

Well there's team, and free-for-all. So I guess if you were only playing with a few others then FFA would be your mode of choice. Same thing, just no crew.
