..another thing, I take it there actually weapons hidden on the map again? or more importantly Body Armour.. I dont feel safe until Ive found some. All Ive stumbled across so far are Molotov Cocktails (and Ive since forgotten where I found them).

...and Ive also found myself having to turn the GPS system off.. I can see why they have included it but its just a bit too much hand holding for my liking.. lets face it, its just not GTA if you dont go hurtling off down the wrong street during chases and missions ;)

It's not bollocks, it's in the top corner of the screen. People moaning because they didn't read what they are told. If you were too busy running around like a mad bastard that you missed it, then that's your problem. Its written up on the screen. And how to get into a cab as a passenger comes up on the screen every single time you approach a hailed cab. If you can't read a message on the screen, then I don't know what else they can do for you short of burning it into the back of your eyelids.

It doesn't, I've only seen it once (the first time I attempted it).

Come on now people, lets have some love. Hold Y to get in the cab and enjoy ;)

I found a shotgun in the security room of a strip club, and an SMG in an ally, so yeah, there are weapons dotted about the place.

Not found any Molotovs yet ;)

Conversely, it didn't show up the first time the game tells you L1 hails a cab for me, and yes, I did check my log. It wasn't until some time later the game informed me holding Triangle let you get in the back seat.

Still, what a way to travel, eh? Love it.

was anyone else having loads of problems with the multiplayer last night, keeps kicking you back to single player, have to say thats my biggest gripe with the game!

No problems with MP here. Other than me being such a doughnut that it took me about 2 hours to work out how you actually get into the multiplayer modes.

I was getting thrown out when hosting, while everyone else managed to stay in the lobby (Doc NI was having the same problem before I tried hosting).

Shit, another thing I havn't even thought of trying yet! Jesus...

Spoilers:

You learn how it all works while doing a mission for Brucie on the first island that happens fairly late on in that story branch, just before he sends you on your gay date

Went for one of the "Most Wanted" last night, he was holed up in a safe house better guarded than some of the bosses off crackdown. ;)

If you were too busy running around like a mad bastard that you missed it, then that's your problem. You only need to scroll back in 'Brief' on the pause screen, by the way, to find out what has recently popped up.

Don't be such a dick. The triggers aren't perfect as plenty of others have mentioned so don't go criticising everyone else just because they've been OK for you.

I've been very impressed with the animation - how Niko copes with having feet at different levels is very well handled.

and also impressed with a lot of the car models - there's even a fake AE86, complying with the ruling that all driving games have to include one. I spent ages last night just driving, looking out for cars, and riding on the trains. such a well-realised world.

Enjoyed this last night, but it reminded me why I never got very far with GTA games, i'm shit at the driving. :)

It took me about 4 goes to lose the cops with Jermaine. One time i managed to do it by going off a ramp and ending up on the train tracks, then I couldn't find how to get down! When I did I cocked it up and ended up with my car upside down and Jermiane really angry with me. :)

When I succesfully did it I turned down two corners and and somehow managed to lose them in 30 seconds, after all my other attemptes had me driving madly for 5 minutes until getting surrounded.

Stupid game. I love it though. ;)

I saw a gun just lying in the road, so I hopped out of my car and grabbed it.

I haven't actually shot anyone with it yet.

I played the multiplayer for a bit last night, and thought it was kinda rubbish for the most part. It's probably a bit better if you're playing with loads of friends (I was in a party of two), but the deathmatch was complete tits and the races were largely pretty dull as well.

I know what kerraig meant when he talked about fighting with the police – the start of that 'Hangman's Noose' gametype tells you to clear the airport of police, but they seem to respawn more-or-less indefinitely and it's much easier just to leg it to the van en masse and drive off. The rest of that game type seems a bit shit as well, as once you're in the van the police don't really do anything apart from follow you, making it absolutely piss easy to escape. Also, do you have to drive to the same place every time?

'Deal Breaker' seemed really crap as well; about the only gametype I can see being really fun is 'Bomb Da Base', with the combination of van-robbing and helicopter-hovering. Absolutely the biggest omission though has to be the fact that there aren't any police in the free roam mode! Admittedly, there may be a hidden way of activating this hidden within the slightly confusing interface, but I couldn't find it. If this is the case, it's a completely mental thing to leave out. How much fun would going on four-player rampages be?

I may be suffering from slightly raised expectations with regard to the multiplayer, but getting into the single-player over the weekend, I spent all of yesterday daydreaming about how amazing multiplayer would be and was pretty disappointed, to be brutal.

Sorry to ask if this has already been covered but every time I try and go online (PS3, which is probably why - SONYLOL) it just says it can't connect. Can you play online immediately or do you need to unlock the ability? I'm only an hour or so in...

Cheers.

My first night on GTA4:

You know, it didn't blow me away. I just thought hmmm.. it looks okay.

The city is pretty amazing. I still havent gone to meet Roman. Spent the night driving around and getting into mischief.

( well, it was one way to memorise the map!)

Closed the session by heading to the Triangle club and beating up a lap dancer and all the club security.

Then the coppers turned up and shot me dead.

THE END.

Its a very good game then.

Best line of dialogue from Niko ever, on a mission where you have to follow someone's car: "While stalking a girl in Europe, I found that the best distance was 2 car lengths."

P-dogg: Assuming you've got the phone, you should be able to play online.

Played until 4 am last night, so I'm a bit knackered.

What a fucking game, watching Nico he reminds me of a grizzled 70s movie character actor.

I haven't gotten to Algonquin yet, but the scale of this game is off the charts, unlike the other GTAs I actually found my bearing around Hove Beach pretty quick. I think it's because every street and street corner is unique.

The controls take bit of time to get used to, there's so much to keep track of at first so it feels a bit much.

Re. the car handling, when I first drove Roman's cab I almost tipped it over at the first turn, but a few hours later I feel in complete control of the same car, so stick with it.

I've been in a few, pretty limited shoot-outs, I've tried it with lock-on both on and off.

For now, I think I'll keep it on.

What a thing they've created here, the pouring rain, the clammy damp mornings, the murky sinister nights, fantastic.

Rockstar now owns blue skies in games, Sega can just pack it up. ;)

There was this achingly beautiful moment where I was in my stole bright red Tourismo, outside the cabaret, the sun was high in the sky, not a cloud in sight, I just sat gobsmacked and stared at the TV.

Fuck I'm rambling, ain't I? :)

Deathmatch sucks, Mafiya is where it's at.

That and GTA race where you get to shoot at the other cars as you race. Amazing scenes at the airport, where you have to avoid taxiing planes and not drive off the edge of the bloody island like I did.

Also, helicopter races! With guns!

For the person who wanted to connect to Xbox Live without buying a Wireless adaptor....

If you have a laptop with Wireless then you can connect by plugging your Xbox into your Laptop via an ethernet cable and connect through that.

Short guide here, but loads of info on it over the web. It's easier set up if you are using Virgin Cable than ADSL, but all the guides are out there.

Have I just gone mental, or is Lazlow's talk radio station (Integrity 2.0) just not in the game? The public radio and right-wing ones are but not Integrity. It's even in the fucking manual, but not in the game. Does it open up later on?

What do Mafiya games entail?

Yeah, it does - when you get to the second island, I think.

Well it comes up every single time when I approach a hailed taxi, it says hold Triangle to enter as a passenger. I just tried it right now to make sure I'm not dreaming it.

Who's being a dick? You said "That's bollocks", I'm telling you it's not. Sorry.

I nearly punched Murray when he kept stealing the cab instead of getting in the back - and I'll damn well punch ANY OF YOU CUNTS that can't do it either.

YOU HEAR?

It's fucking brilliant, like. And in the spells I had on Murray's PSN last night, I was owning. B)
