When you get good friends with Roman you get to abuse his taxi service. Do you get similar rewards for other strong friendships?

Yes.

Make sure you go for food etc with Lil' Whatsit once you've built up a bond. His "special ability" is you call him and he appears parked up nearby wherever you are on the map with a boot full of cheap guns and body armour. Not sure about Brucie yet but I'm pretty much there with him. He's asking me out for food, I'm going to take him to the club. No doubt it'll be something car related.

On the "parking bay" thing - I think the cars only save if you save on the bed in the house. I had some problems last night with going to the dash after finishing a mission and getting an autosave, then playing again and a car was gone. No problems using the bed method though. They definitely handle 2 vehicles. Or maybe just 1 great big one, I tend to have a nice fast car and a bike. ;)

That makes sense.. Im always overly cautious when it comes to saving and dont like to rely on the autosave so should hopefully be okay. Cheers

Didn't find that too difficult myself - use cover and free aim when heading up stairs shotgun out.

..but they then disappear from the radar when you get upstairs. He says drive him back, only for you to walk down the stairs and get your head blown off.

Maybe I'm just frustrated due to a little ginger shit in Manchester tonight.

ok thought i'd do one of these... feel free to agree or not.

(i have spoiler tagged them but there is nothing here that gives any of the story away)

Things i like:

It's funny, very funny in places

The city. Christ it is just great to walk around and listen to people. I heard a fat dudes phone go off he picked it up and said 'Hello?... Jesus all you ever call me for is sex' I smiled

The phone system. It just works.

The mini Games. Although bowling was a tad shit the darts is fucking ace

Niko. I love the main character. He's just so damn cool. He forces me to play the game. I haven't been on one rampage just because i care for him and dont want him to get busted.

The Cars. For some reason i tend to care for my car a lot more than in the other GTAs. I steal cars less and i drive slower so i dont fuck my car up. Although i cant explain why i feel like this.

Things i dont like

I cant get my head around the map. Something that looks ages away on the map is actually right next to you in game.

Combat is nowhere near as good as i thought it could be.

Overall... the best game i have played in ages and i'm still on the first island. Cant fucking wait until i get onto the middle one!

I think I've been playing for about 10 hours now, still on the first island. Tried a quick random deathmatch and wound up in a game with Vimster, who I'm sure is the same guy from this very forum.

Plays really well - who knew a guy with AK47 could quickly take down someone in a car? Not me, obviously! ;)

Just finished a seven hour multiplayer session. The game online is pretty special, for me, the deathmatch modes aren't up to much, but I'd play Halo or Cod4 if I want to shoot things.

The race and opjective modes are really amazing though, imparticular Cops n'Robbers, which is brilliant as it is, but will only get better once everyone learns the maps. I haven't laughed or enjoyed a game so much online in ages, it's the perfect mix of semi serious hilarity and competitive fun.

So many memories of little moments that will probably never be reproduced already, just from day one.

The single player looks good too. ;)

Haha - just checked the stats menu, since last night:

Game Progress: 26.29%

Playing Time: 14:57:31

Addiction Level: That's some good shit

Longest Non-stop game: 10:19:24

A day off work well spent ;)

Haven't played to much so maybe its the wrong time to judge but so far i still think GTA 3 is the best of the 3D series. The lack of roads, nice wide areas, short fun missions and just the look make it better for me. GTA 4 is technically stunning and has loads of nice little touches but how i long for just a small simple map with only a few roads rather than loads and loads. GTA also seems to get more serious as each game gets made. There is less of the gouranga and pinball style mechanics of the first game and more serious gameplay. It's a bit of a shame as i adore the original and would love for this to have kill frenzies and gourangas as well as being able to chain cars to blow.

The multiplay for me felt a bit dull i guess for lack of a better word. Again the maps are far too big even for 16 plays and it's hard to keep track of where you are being shot from. Add onto this a strange lobby system (initally) and again im a bit disappointed. The whole game if anything feels like Vice City, better than the last game, more polished but something is missing and detracts from the game overall. Time shall tell if i still feel this way once i've got to know the maps a bit better.

Err ok, like, wow. Ladies and gentlemen we live in good times. Yeah, wow. Really.

As soon as I began to play this, I realise why I love videogames. So much work and craftsmanship has gone into this title and it definitely won't go un-noticed. I've barely scratched the surface and already I can tell I'll be playing this for weeks.

Well I was on there, didn't get a single kill, me thinks I need practice. It was really good fun though, I can see it becoming a big online hit especially once people get to know the maps well. So yes, anyone fancy another game and need to look good? Give me a shout ;)

EDIT: ah yes, remember the gt now, top fun all round :)

Oh, chaining cars is still most definitely there, I just stood and watched a chain of at least 10 go off - the last one being a cop car. Beautiful. I was drunk with Roman at the time, the whole scene looked surreal and incredible.

Fives. I don'5 know where to begin, but you put it pretty succinctly there. Art? Fuck art let's forge a new future. This is the bomb.

Just got drunk. Very, very good stuff, then got into a windmilling brawl with a cabbie and my date stood me up. ;)

As everyone said, the game is such a good videogame alternate take on reality I find myself driving safely and not abusing the populace, and I just like walking to locations it's that good. The lighting model is sublime, the whole city takes on a different mood. Game is better than I imagined possible.

I've got hold of both versions PS3 and XBox 360 (and I know it's the same game on both) but I've got to say, after playing for a few hours on both versions the graphics are VERY MUCH smoother/aliased on the Xbox and rougher/unaliased on the PS3, including even the loading graphics and titles etc. Infact it's instantly noticeable. Colour saturation is better on PS3 though. I've checked the settings on my PS3 and they are fine, (superstardust still looks absolutely stunning in 1080p). If it was marginal I wouldn't have brought it up and I was shocked as I'd purposely bought the Ps3 version for the better gfx and the 360 for LIVE.

Trolling maybe, but chase has gone incredibly quiet

Are there any 2-player co-op missions in this?

Haven't tried 'em, but I read that there are a couple of 4 player co-op missions you can play online. Not many, and nothing to do with the main game I believe, mainly just big arse shoot-outs.

Sorry if this has been asked before, but how do I drop my knife?

I got kicked out of a strip club. ;)

Had the same prob here, but despite trying every single button config I can think of, no joy. There must be a way - I can't imagine that you have to get busted and lose your weapons everytime you wanna see some titties?!
