Bugger! I bought the PS3 version cos I'd read the graphics were better. I bought it from Argos and they don't do returns.

I refer you to a post I made earlier:

"There are some definite lighting differences - The PS3 version seems to have more complex lighting (particularly noticeable in cut-scenes), and as I've said previously I prefer the colour set used on that one. I suspect that Rockstar have simply built each around the strengths and weaknesses of each console. The PS3 version is slightly heavier on the effects and has less pop-up/in while the 360 version is a shade smoother and higher res. I'm pleased that they've done it this way rather than fob everyone off with a heavily compromised product one way or the other."

And I'll add to that with....

360: Crisper, slightly higher resolution. Looks more 'gamey' for want of a better term.

PS3: Warmer colours, slightly hazy, more organic look. I prefer this and therefore bought it on PS3 ahead of 360, but it's quite clearly a matter of preference.

I'm exactly the same (try and avoid spoilers like the plague) but thats the beauty of multiplayer it so customisable. A few of us have just been playing games on the first island with "weak" weapons.. so it doent show you anything you havent already seen in Single player.. even just 3 player Races, GTA Races and Deathmatches have been an absolute blast!

This way we just keep drip feeding ourselves bits at a time as and when we unlock them in single player... last thing I wanted was to dive straight into a MP session where you can hop in a copter and see the best the game has to offer

I've been avoiding the multiplayer because I didn't want to see stuff I hadn't seen in SP. But I might have to give it a go now...

It's really weird, with every time I'm playing the game, I keep feeling like I'm missing out on loads. So much to do! Almost...too much. Hmm.

Yeah, same here, though apart from women and the last few of

Brucie's Customs by email scams

I've not done much else "side" stuff. Didn't seem to get much money for driving cabs for Roman, stashing drugs for Lil' Wassisface paid better but was often dangerous. Do the cab and the drug stash missions go up in "levels" like the old games side missions?

Still not played it.

Guys, is it possible to climb lots like we were told before? Up lamp posts etc?

How does the phone work for pics?? someone?

Well??

Seriously give it a go.. just make sure you dont dive into ranked matches etc where you have no control over the settings.

May look into setting up a thread in the online folder for arranging games for people with our plight (if I can stop playing for a few minutes), I think there may be a fair bit of interest.

In other news Ive just found my first Turismo.. i'm a happy bunny now.

I bought a copy on each format to see which was best, expecting better visuals on PS3 and 360 for multiplayer. The PS3 version looks very noticably worse to me, extremely jaggy, especially in the cutscenes. The lighting is better I suppose, but the overall image quality just looks much worse, at least to my eyes.

It's a pity as I'd rather play it on PS3, simply because the 360 is just way too loud.

Well??

1. Not really, hopping over the odd fence and obstacle or climbing the odd ladder.

2. When you unlock the

third island

according to Wickedkitten.

*edit* The weather effects are definately incredible. It's not like I've been looking hard but not noticed much car pop up or spawning at all. Only had 1 dodgy collision detection glitch. (No it wasn't that shop window....)

1) I'm sure there was something about climbing lamposts and being able to tackle the environment ages ago??? Link anyone?

2) Seriously, no way? How long does that take??

Quick question from me.. in the first Safe House can you only leave one vehicle in the yellow parking bay outside, even though there is space for two?

..and what about this one?..I've got a Turismo and NRG 900 sat ourside at the moment and dont really want to lose either of them ;)

Well I've just checked the settings, started up S'Stardust again and it looks the dogs bollocks, smooth as silk. Stick GTA 4 and it's very aliased. The Playstation logo at the start is absolutely crisp yet the rockstar legals are a bit blocky , logo and game itself are markedly aliased. Dunno what to think.

I had this problem at first - I checked the video settings and it was running in 720, but my screen's 1080. Forced the game to run at 1080 and it looks an *awful* lot better...

I've seen some (possibly bullshit) rumours that the game only actually renders at 630 on the PS3, then upscales - which would explain it looking a bit iffy if it's not running at your screen's native resolution (especially if your screen handles non native resolutions as badly as mine =] ).

Either way, it looks a damn sight better for me now.

1. Dunno. But I've not climbed any lamposts.

2. Taken me over 10 hours to unlock the second island. Would be cool to take photo's but the phone I have right now is cool enough anyway. ;)

On the "parking bay" thing - I think the cars only save if you save on the bed in the house. I had some problems last night with going to the dash after finishing a mission and getting an autosave, then playing again and a car was gone. No problems using the bed method though. They definitely handle 2 vehicles. Or maybe just 1 great big one, I tend to have a nice fast car and a bike. :)

This kind of thing is what I mean...it's a question of preference. There's no question that it's sharper on the 360 though if you value crispness, visual cleanliness maybe the extra pop up and, if this kind of thing bothers you, dithering will tarnish that version. Maybe if the hazy, warmer hues of the PS3 version are your preference that advantage will be offset by the fact that it's a bit jaggier than its 360 counterpart.

I don't think there's a visually definitive version, they each have unique advantages and disadvantages...For anyone who hasn't yet purchased, I'd go as far as to say it's well worth viewing both before you buy or at least checking out a good few comparison videos to help make your mind up. See what sort of visual style you prefer and what type of visual problems irritate you more.

TBH I'm surprised that the PS3 is "better" than the 360 in that comparison video.

Few people here saying the 360 version has less jaggies, I'm far more inclined to believe that for obvious reasons.

Didn't Kevvy say the PS3's framerate dropped a lot?

Anyone got to the heroin deal yet? Proves the GTA faults are still glaringly there. Big shootout indoors, and I found it a fucking nightmare.. Just turned it off in frustration. ;)

Do you mean the coke mission, where you need to get it back, in the abandoned hospital? As soon as the cops arrive just dash out, try not to kill them, then hop in a car. Losing 3 stars after is tricky but not too hard.

Appart from the PS3 one having ever so slightly more vivid colours they look identical to me.

Not if you are viewing them on a Sammy 1080p TV. I'm not usually fussed about this kind of stuff at all, but the aliasing difference is quite marked.

I've just switched over the HDMIs to check and stuck Niko in the same position in his apartment. Edges of everything eg stereo are jaggy onPS3. I'm not posting this up

to get on anyones back OR detract from a seriously great game but just to pass comment on my experience which is at odds with what i'd read on tinternet and what has influenced my purchase to get the PS3 spec ed. Anyway I'll STFU and get back to the game.

I'm not sure what limit there is, but I've read elsewhere that you can get "a few" cars in the space because they don't need to be fully in the space.

No, the one where you first meet Playboy X...

U-1. Park the bike on top of the car.
