GTA:IV Official Thread

I can't really comment on the game - as I've just done the first couple of missions...

BUT.

The sense of 'place' in this game is truly astounding. The world is *alive*... what I really noticed though was that I didn't want to run around the city. I walked. I stopped at the crossings until the walk sign came on. When I'm in a car, I follow the traffic and stop at red lights. It just feels like the right thing to do.

I really hope the missions don't suffer from the same problems that spoiled previous GTA's for me - but so far, I'm extremely impressed.

I just found an arcade machine! I dunno where I am, but it's QUB3D "The puzzle game you've played before".

It's like a 3d Tetris. Bit boring really.

Seen a couple of those - one was in the Irish bar and the other was in the pool place IIRC.

Then how do I connect to the wireless network?

You know.. like the £180 Wii does for FREE. Alongside it's FREE Online.

I can't believe you didn't do some research before buying a 360.

There are other ways of doing it by using bridges and whatnot, but I believe they'll end up costing you almost as much.

Wow, Microsoft.

Here's my next course of action.

I will play GTAIV to completion in singleplayer. This will probably take me a month.

Then I will sell my 360 and wait until the PS3 drops to a reasonable price, probably in time for GTAIV: Vice City.

Frankly, Microsoft can fuck off.

*sigh*

I dunno why Im helping you, but here you are anyway, this is what I use, you could probably find it cheaper than this as well.

Well aftera more sustained session put me in the 'this is incredible' camp. It still pisses me off about 3 times an hour, but it akes me roar with laughter about 20 times an hour so the ratio is good. Its not perfect, but it is farking brilliant.

The TV show "i'm rich" is just so damn funny

You dial 911 and hit either 1, 2 or 3 for police, paramedics or fire dept.

I started shooting people up and had about 4 of them shooting at me hiding behind a car. I called the police who came and started shooting at them.

So I crept up to their police car and sped off.

Lol.

Been playing this since 4.30pm when I returned from work, and of course its amazing.

As soon as I was 'free' i tootled over to the airport, thinking 'I'll not be able to get in there just yet', and looked at the gleaming jumbo jet illuminated by my headlights in the blossoming sunset.

Than I noticed that i actually could get in, and had a look under the Jumbo as the airport workers loaded the bags.

Got bored and stole one of the little airport buggies and did a tour of the airport grounds, until I'm suddenly on the main runway with a jet bearing down on me, which takes off just missing me.

Then I notice I've got a four star wanted level and make my escape, after 5 minutes of trying this on the airport buggy I decide to ditch it for a normal sedan car and high tail it round the streets, accidentally running a police man over, instantly giving me a 6 star wanted level.

An intense chase ensues until my car's on fire, i escape running straight into a police car, the force of which knocks me back into the explosion from my car, which shoots me 50 feet into the air, off the overpass I was on and my charred, crumpled carcass lands in an ornamental pond.

Fucking Class!

How do you hail a taxi? And how do you throw something through the shop window?

Not impressed by this.

L1/Left bumper to hail a taxi.

And you pick stuff up with L1 (follow the marker on the map) or shoot the window. Aim at the window (to the left of the door).

Left bumper for both things. Try taking note of the on screen prompts top left. The game is trying to help you understand how to play, its not its fault if you are not taking heed.

I know this. LB, then Y to enter the taxi as a passenger. Y just makes me hijack the taxi though. Everytime.

Pick something up, then LT to enter free aim? That just locks me onto something, and the item in my hands vanishes, forcing me slog around looking for another black speck on the floor to pick up.

I'm not even drunk here.

Was about to reply with something similar.. also if you miss a prompt you can view them under briefing in the options menu.

Quick question from me.. in the first Safe House can you only leave one vehicle in the yellow parking bay outside, even though there is space for two?

I did for the first hour or so, but you will get over it. The red light thing especially, they are just red too often.

yeah - I'm sure I will... once I'm more familiar with my surroundings. Right now, I want to take it in. I'm looking at all the shops, watching the people milling about. I even tried to see if I could sit down at a bus stop and wait on a bus!! I couldn't. ;)

I'm like this whenever I go to a new city I've never been to in real life. I like to get out and start walking around to get my bearings. The city in this game is interesting enough to make this wortwhile doing.
