I quite like this, am on a shitty connection so haven't tried multiplayer, but the minigames are fun.

I didn't realise the pigeons were collectables, I was wondering why there didn't seem to be as many things that incentivise exploration. I found an Uzi behind the Rastas place, and a pistol near some docks.

Also I didn't know you could pick up bricks, I tried picking up a trashcan but it wouldn't let me, so I just stabbed the window.

I was on my way to the titty bar with Roman, when a message popped up that the Internet connection had been lost.

So I ended the game, reconnected the whole thing, and rebooted my PS3.

Now the game doesn't work anymore :( That said, my PS3 just doesn't recognize the disc. What the hell happened?

GTA4 is pretty good! I've been enjoying the few hours I have spent with the game.

I'm not a massive fan of the series, although I have bought and played III, VC & SA to completion.

I think I got a little too hyped up about this game over the last week. It was off my Radar until I saw the Gameplay vids of it only a few days ago.

Yeah its good, same old with a few bells and whistles. I'm much more of a fan of Crackdown when it comes to "Sand box" tomfoolery.

The game feels more like an over whelming environment where your largely insignificant rather than Crackdowns Freeform playground.

I played both versions btw.

Things I really noticed.

They do essentially look the same. Even with all the talk that the PS3 version runs at 630p

I couldn't really tell the difference visually.

But

Pop-in is non existent on the PS3 version, and defo there from time to time on the 360 version.

PS3 version runs at a much lower framerate. The FR is alright on teh 360 but nothing special. PS3 version would dip to LOLsville on many occasions. I played /watched the games for about an hour and the PS3 version dips to single figure frame rate quite often.

I bought the 360 version over the PS3 one. Been great so far....except for two lock ups. :(

Is there a way of installing to the hard drive on the 360 version?

don't think so. Honestly, it runs pretty good. The pop-in isn't that bad but I guess it would be affected by your drive.

I've got the newest Philips/Ben-Q Drive and pop-in isn't really an issue.

Been playing this for the past 8 hours... I don't know which I prefer, single or multiplayer, but both are amazing. The variety in multi is crazy, not to mention hilarious. Makes me glad that the came came with a free month of Live Gold!

There are some definite lighting differences - The PS3 version seems to have more complex lighting (particularly noticeable in cut-scenes), and as I've said previously I prefer the colour set used on that one. I suspect that Rockstar have simply built each around the strengths and weaknesses of each console. The PS3 version is slightly heavier on the effects and has less pop-up/in while the 360 version is a shade smoother and higher res. I'm pleased that they've done it this way rather than fob everyone off with a heavily compromised product one way or the other.

Where's the garage again? At the very start. It said I can keep one there for when I save but I'm at Belic's place but can't see a garage anywhere.

I got a sweet Corvette, you see, I wanna keep it.

The wife and daughter have returned home so I've had to stop playing for a few hours.

The details are just fantastic and while I thought the cars seemed too flimsy to start with I've really got to grips with them now. But I struggled like hell with that chase the motorcyclist mission, the bikes are so fast that you end up getting flung miles from the impact point and lose the chase by the time you get back. Obviously the solution is not to fucking crash!

The voice acting and scripting is superb. The only think I'm not feeling yet are the radio stations. I like the PLR one but I was expecting Lazlow to turn up with Fernando but it looks like the later did the production.

Yes definitely. It's good. The Ps3 in generally really has STRONG colours, especially red.

I do generally prefer the clinical sharper look of the 360 video out put. The colours are always a bit washed out compared to the ps3. This is comparing Both over HDMI with ref levels set to Expanded/ Full RGB.

There's a parking space in front of the hideout.

Just stick it in the big yellow "Residents" box painted on the road outside the safehouse.
