Fable 2

Perhaps I should have said 'world-wise' rather than 'story-wise'. (Though the story was utterly worthless). The first one seemed like it had been put together by someone whose entire knowledge of fantasy was The Hobbit and Pawn of Prophecy (by David Eddings). It was just so feather-light that it turned me off immediately. It felt childish, and so the actual game just frustrated the hell out of me.

If it's anything like Oblivion it would be better without a story at all. The story should be your life rather than a shoe-horned in string of very dull missions and cutscenes that break all the emulation aspects of the game.

Agreed, but then it's even more important that the world's vibrant and complex and believable.

At this rate, we'll have to wait for the X-Box 1440 until we have completely open environments.

Oblivion came out years ago, or just go and play WoW.

Why does the dog stay in some weird animation loop when standing still? It looks like an animated gif avatar.

I assume it's not finished.

Co-op eh? Good stuff! Tis surely the future.

I've not seen too much on it - TELL ME...with this "bartering" thing, can you also build a house in the other players world? That would be cool. Then you can turn up at any time and have a little base. That would be tres cool.

I like the idea of going into a friends world, going out a killing, and coming home with loads of loot and dividing it up - then storing my share in the basement ;)

How about you join Sprite and watch the video ;) they even comment on how the first game was really restrictive, and how in this game, you can climb every fence/etc and explore the entire world properly!

This made me laugh because it looked obvious that they'd just added a fence for the sake of being able to jump over it, and they'll still conjure up ways of keeping you 'locked in' so to speak. I'd love to proven wrong though.

Still, this looks fucking great what with co-op and all!

bizarre but true....

every copy of fable I have ever owned has skipped at the opneing animation of the bloke in the black armour with the sword before the big blue box logo comes up. And theres not a thing wrong with my xbox. However this only seems to affect the first play through of the animation video and never happens after that if its left running. Game runs fine and I have never ever had any other issue like this with any other game on my xbox.

its a crystal one btw

that put me off the game from the off.

Amazingly late reply, but after a few months, my own crystal 360 wouldn't skip the opening videos on Fable and SC:CT on the first loading. Bizarre.

Hehe fair enough, but I thought that most people were annoyed cos in Fable 1 you'd get locations that looked pretty similar to the one shown in that walkthrough, however you would literally be confined to the path, unable to leap the tiniest of fences.. I wasn't expecting the game to be Oblivion-scale, really. In the first game, that same scene would've been restricted like this:

Oh and of bigger concern perhaps, is the fact that the coop the were demoing seemed to be single-console only... He went on and on about the camera problems, leaving me wondering, why have a single camera when you're on two TVs? And then when the journo asked if it was just drop in/out over Live, Molyneux basically said 'no comment'. Hmm.

Live - co-op would be teh best certainly. If they don't include it it's a bit off...however how did Lego Star Wars work in co-op over on live, cos they had the same camera in SP right?

TBH it looks good though. As long as everything he's saying is true. Buying houses etc, etc sounds cool.

I would love to be able to split gold as I saw fit, and live in my friends world too. 2 wives! Awesome ;)

He claims the worlds are very different hinting at an Animal Crossing esque experience?

It COULD be very, very good...but recent Lionhead games (erm the 2) really have fallen short of what theyre aiming for. But, at least they aim.

I wonder if you could come to my 'world', Disciple, and spitroast my wife with me? ;)

(or, more realistically in terms of actually being in the game, steal her!!)

And damned straight about aiming high - those guys talk a lot of shit, and Molyneux does come across as just a teeny bit pompous ("These actions and dialogue are all simulated - that's going to tug at your heartstrings" lol) but you can't help but admire what they try for

Hey I like the idea that I can kill your wife, who's named Aeris! LOL!

Yeah the Spitroast thing is ON like Donkey Kong! I'll head to the LH forums and ask if it's possible.

This whole "Getting pregnant" thing. I wonder if you can intercouse with several men and not know who the son is until birth. i.e. certain characteristics!

Or, as a man, just go around impregnating lots of women. I like that idea. Have lots of different houses etc. Christ you'd had to do a lot of adventuring to keep them well.

Perhaps one of your wives get's really fat. Dood if that happens to me can I pay you to assasinate her?

Sure Disciple. I wonder if you will be able to spread diseases. Now that would be ninja skills.

I guess Peter was right when he said "Co-op like never before"...

Good picture, and I agree with you. My mine gripe was just that every 20 metres you went from one map on to the next, like Zelda games, which is fine if you're not given all the stupid hype about freedom in the first place.

Judging from the videos and the way Peter talked about it, I'd be VERY suprised if online co-op wasn't included.

All this talk is making me want to play Fable 1 again, a lovely game once you realise its limits.
