Fable 2

Also I thought you had to download something for every single Xbox game you wanted to play. When I played Ninja Gaiden Black it downloaded something but it hasn't for Fable which also makes me suspicious. Hmmm.

Every time you start up a backwards compatible game it checks for an update to the emulator, if there isn't one it doesn't download anything.

I finally got Fable to work and I'm not very impressed so far. The menu system seems clunky and this whole tutorial bit is boring (esp. compared to Oblivion).

And this must surely have the worst save system EVER. I mean, I trained a few things as an adult and decided I didn't want to do anymore so I saved the game and quit. When I loaded it up again I'm a child again, the game loading from the screen where he's being sick in the field. What the hell is the point in a save system like that?

You can only save properly inbetween missions. This prevents you from cheating and saving after every difficult bit to make it easier

Still shite, though. All games should let the player decide when they want to save it, regardless of whether they start using Quicksave exploits or not.

Gah. Can anyone with Lost Chapters tell me if it works properly on their 360? I just bought it second hand and it always gets stuck and crashes when I close the first box (the one telling you to go up to villagers and press A). I've tried it about 5 times. Now admittedly the disc is scratched to fuck but I'm suspicious of all the stories I've heard about the 360s emulation. Although it probably is the disc, fucking Gamestation.

Seemed to run fine on mine.

I only did a Hero save. I saw on the menu it said that it only saved my statistics and whatnot, but I couldn't find a way to 'properly' save it. There's nothing about it in the manual and nobody's told me in the game how to save my game properly. Where can I save it properly during this training/tutorial bit? Or do I have to wait til I've finished it?

You can only save "properly" after completing guild training - when he brings you back to the hall with the portal and the levelling up gizmo is a good time to do so.

Dont save over this save to ensure you dont have to complete guild training again if you want to try different character types.

Fell in love with Fable.

Yeah the game had its flaws, but it made up for it with its charm and creative gameplay. Fable is a game with GREAT potential.

Im confident Molenuex and BBB will deliver.

I've just finished Fable. It's ok, 7/10.

Question: Can you buy shops? Menus and that in game suggest you can, but none was ever for sale? Also, it says that more buildings will be available to buy as people moved out, but this never happened. I got one in each town, and that was it. Do you have to kill their current occupiers to make them vacant or something?

You can buy shops if they become ownerless but they are quite expensive.

All properties (including storeage barns etc) can be purchased if their occupiers meet a sudden death - you dont have to do the act yourself if you are playing a good character, just lead them into a dangerous area.

I hope you played 'Fable: Lost Chapters' Panda?

The best thing about Fable is that every time you play it, you can take so many different paths and do so many different things so its score goes up

I bet you missed out on so many side quests Panda

Yeah, 'twas the Lost Chapters, and I've no doubt I missed out a lot. I'm not even sure I opened any of those silver chests. It's clearly designed for multiple playthroughs, but I'm not sure I will bother. So many games to play, and it wasn't that good.

I did enjoy it though. And I loved the Village People bit.

It's not really worth it. Stealth's so bad that it leads to an endless Benny Hill routine until you get caught or leave the area. Re-entering the area restarts said comedy.

You can just do evil without bothering with stealth though, no?

There are plenty of other ways to be evil which do not require stealth - like making sacrifices of innocent villagers at the alter of doom. Being highly attractive and evil is a good combination as people will follow you. It has to be said though that it is too easy to switch between fully good and fully evil and vice versa in the game, compared to say Oblivion or KOTOR.

  • 1 year later...

Well holy shit after watching those three vids, I'm very, very stoked for Fable 2. Excellent coop adventures are going to be had. All the fluff Monlyneux is adding, regardless of how limited it ends up being, looks like it'll add a lot of fun distractions! Eeeeeeeee :D

The murder of the husband by the coop player was genius.

Will this one allow you to plant a seed and return years later to see it as a tree?

Well Molyneux's character had a 'seed' planted in her belly :) His character had a five year old son in the game. So you can grow some thing, at least :(

WTFV (watch the fucking video) :D

They better not confine us to narrow pathways through the whole fucking thing ,either.

Oblivion-style or bust!!

How about you join Sprite and watch the video :D they even comment on how the first game was really restrictive, and how in this game, you can climb every fence/etc and explore the entire world properly!

Just so long as it's not as shit as the first one (story-wise).

A fair point, though to be honest, I'm not even bothered about it that much. The 'story' my mates and I make ourselves as we DESTROY the lovely world will be far more engrossing, I reckon :D
