That will probably be rubbish, but if it wasn't rubbish then it would be good. And the Uno and card game games. Maybe.

Phoenix Wright Ace Attorney 2 October 2006

Woohoo!!! Hopefully the cases are more like the first four in DS game and not the average fifth case.

That's bloody great, that is.

It seems the DS has got the healthiest set up of all the consoles, handheld or not.

Nintendo are smashing it.

I think I disagree. It's a long list, but not a terribly exciting or original one on the face of it. I don't want the DS to suffer the same fate as the GBA, with many average-to-poor licensed kids games and churned out Nintendo franchise updates and ports

Of course, it's unfair to dismiss such a long release list on the basis of a dozen videos and a list of titles. but by the same token I think it's a bit early to get excited. Once people get some hands-on impressions then things might change.

The 'same fate' as the GBA? Isn't it the most successful handheld ever?

Anyway, sure there's some dross (what console doesn't have it?), but the gems are so good, and the console itself so nice to use that for me it's the one. Winning eleven on DS? Yes please.

It irritates me to see so much generic licensed crap on there too (just as with the GBA), but the flipside is that mums buy their kids those piles of tosh, the system stays alive and so we get what we want.

Star Fox DS?!

wallet-drain ... I think I should be a bit selective with my acquisitions, especially with 2 new consoles on the horizon in the same releasewindow as most of these games.

It may not be original, but it's the most solid line up of upcoming games I've ever seen on any console.

Why should it annoy you?

A large proportion of Nintendo's handheld market are children. It makes good business sense to exploit that market. You, the relatively hardcore gamer, are getting an abundance of wonderful titles, so I'd be happy if I were you. I mean, Yoshi's Island 2. In the same year as a Super Mario sequel. How you can be annoyed I fail to see.

Looks like Rare is developing Diddy Kong Racing. It's like they never left!

It's showtime again! Woo. And this year sees double the boggly-eyed animal fun as two separate Rare-developed titles strut their stuff around downtown LA.

E3 '06 is also the debut stage for our latest collaboration with Nintendo: we've possibly hinted at it in the past, but then again we've also hinted at a lot of other things, because we're like that. Yes, Diddy Kong Racing is our first official DS project, and Nintendo are busily promoting it as part of their next wave of big DS offerings for late 2006. Based on the N64 classic but improved and expanded in ways that only the DS allows, you can see the first shot and movie snippet over on NCL's website if you haven't already.

A few tantalising DKR DS info-bites to keep you going: eight-player single-card and multi-card WiFi play, touch-screen and microphone compatibility, some familiar faces in newly playable form, remodelled and retextured tracks, customisable vehicles, new modes, weapons and challenges, a little something called TT's Wish Races where you can create your very own tracks... and it doesn't end there.

But for now, kick back and enjoy the show, sunbeams!
