A new champion amongst chips

Recommended Posts

Bought myself a nice sirloin steak today and figured I could do a lot worse than to have some nice chunky chips with it. Now as far as I'm concerned, oven chips are the daddy of all chips, my usual choice being Aunt Bessies. Anyway, made my way to the freezer department and noticed a new face amongst the regulars. (I like my chips) I present to you, the new king of chips, Tesco Finest Chunky Oven Chips. Price wise, they come in at £1.29 for a 1.5kg bag, compare that to £1.38 for a 1kg bag of Aunt B and I'm sure you'll all agree, it's a no brainer. :D

Do the other supermarkets do a premium range of chips?

Auntie Bessy's aren't. They're probably the closest oven chips to nullifying any "could have just gone to the chippy" thoughts in my mind. Will try tescos competition out soon though.

I never have room in the freezer though. I never have room enough for a pizza!

I'll stick with the REAL daddy of all chips.... free chippy chips, courtesy of big bro who owns a chippy. So, it should now be 'The Bigger Brother Of All Chips'...

Fucking oven chips! Bwahahaha!!

Big fat chips, cooked for 15 minutes at 165 degrees, taken out, oil up to 185 degrees.. chips back in for 5 minutes to go brown and crispy. Really, done like this they are the best chips you'll ever eat: fluffy in the middle and crispy on the outside, and healthier than regular chips because of their chunkiness.

I've always wondered what the profit margins on a bag of chips would be.

Very nice chippy chips from two chippys two minutes away vary from 1.20 to 1.70 with only a few mouthfuls difference in portion. Then the amount you get with suppers in relation to the rest of the supper is random too!

Aunt Bessies are the best, some people can't cook chips properly it's all about the time, I hate underdone chips and overdone, I like to cook my chips a certain way and they always turn out great.
