It's sure rough around the edges, but is a lot of fun IMO. Really nice being able to just take the cars out and go exploring - blazing along the beach listening to some custom tunes is a blast.

I really like the car handling too - seems to have a nice arcadey feel that doesn't necessitate slowing down at every damn bend.

The sensation of speed is also stunning when you really let it rip on a straight. Physics are cool when you smash up other cars.

Even though the visuals are a notch below PGR3, I think the amount it's rendering and the size of the gameworld more than makes up for that. The biggest prob is the garish/cardboard foliage, apart from that it looks pretty nice on HD IMO.

Let's hope framerate probs are fixed up before release, it's a ways off yet.

Quiet enjoyed the demo think the game still has great potential despite the majority of negative comments that have been surfacing. The avatar/house front end looks like it could be pretty cool, the handling needs some tweaking (or maybe I've been playing too much ridge racer recently) and yeah theres some framerate issues (which I hope is just early code).

The graphics don't look amazing but they don't exactly look shit, theres a fair bit of popping but I was pretty impressed when you tap the map button and see the view zoom out to the satellite view in 3d.

All in all I'm hopeful that the game will still turn out as good with it's freeform structure and customisation elements.

I don't know what all the frame rate moaning is about, looks rock solid to me. Make sure you're running in 50Hz.

Great. So you can either have a fast-but-jerky game in 60hz, or a slow-as-fuck game in 50hz?

Like I'm ever setting my box to the dreaded 50...

Framerate is fine if you're not a nit picker.

Handling is odd. It's one of those games that has a "default spin" ie, no matter how you drive it always feels the same when you spin.

Not awful though.

The frame-rate is inconsistent. In a Full Auto stylee. It's hardly nit-picking.

.::: Well that wasn't fun. Stiff handling, lacklustre graphics, awful blurring during cornering. And switching to the map is stopping whatever the hell you're doing. So, this doesn't correlate with all these shots and stuff I've been seeing of the game. Disappointing. I'd rather play World Racing again (if they would fix the menu's that is).

Oh and worst logo ever for using a Japanese su-syllable as an R. :P

This has been discussed heavily in another thread. All of the sloppy frame rate demos improve when set to 50Hz and the difference between 50 and 60 on a HD LCD is unnoticable.

laclustre graphics? Are you playing it in HD? It looks great on my big screen and there aren't any framerate problems either, although I haven't done a race yet.

The only problem is the slow handling, it's as bad as the oil tankers in NFSMW.

.::: 720p. Lots of billboarding and samey environment that seems to have a preference for gray. It's not doing me any favours in any case.

The difference between 50 and 60 is noticeable on anything you throw it on. Because they're like, you know, different.

Why the hell would anyone want to play a game in 50hz, etc...

Hmmm.

I really love the handling, actually. All weighty.

And I can not believe how good the Shelby sounds. So throaty. Makes me want to drive again as soon as the demo times out.

See, I loved that. It seems like they love that car, and have put some effort into every department of it.

Jump into the Lotus, and it's like you're driving a high-pitched dodgem.

I can't change it through a VGA lead, and like fuck am I when I'd have to change it back again to play my other games.

Huh?

How on earth is that meant to work?

Been playing this a lot, if Steve McQueen were alive today he would be playing this non stop.

It's amazing. No idea why Chyheowhtw thinks it's grey. Maybe he's playing RR6 instead because this is lush green all the way.

I guess the multiplayer server is limited spaces at the mo because I haven't been able to get the option yet.

If they'd had said it took place in Germany I would've believed them more than saying this is Hawaii.

Well I'm still looking for these framerate issues people are on about... personally I think its all pretty impressive.

Online games seem to run silky smooth.. I love the whole interface of jumping into multiplayer games and then just continuing your single player cruise.

Oh and the "create your own races" option works pretty well too. just drive up behind a rival, press the A button and your taken to a screen to setup your own waypoints and start an instant race.

Cant wait to see the results of a few more months in development.

I'd be more impressed if (a) I could get online and (b) it would let me set waypoints when I challenged a computer-controller car. Ah well, sure it'll be ironed out.

Cyhwuhx, normally you = sense.

But at the mo', you = a madder.

It's spilling over with lush emerald green vegetation and oceans of rippling aqua. The road part, yes, will be grey, that's like an international rule. Have you downloaded Blazing Angels or something by mistake?

It is fucking well lo-res, mind.

Top stuff, really enjoyable.

The usual hate brigade dont like it, but thats not suprising.

Cant wait for this now!

YES! It's damn ace isn't. Love the way that ll the cars handle differently

I know, no problems for me at all.

When you go into the game bring up your GPS and select the orange race that says multi. Then you can create a game and invite friends or join a session in progress.

This game is ace of spaces.

EDIT - Ha it seems that all this E3 stuff has broken Live.

.::: Seriously, I'm now starting to doubt my monitor, I just get to race in Overcast Land.

It is quite grey when it's cloudy.

But nice and green when it's not.

.::: So I've been racing for the entire duration of the demo in a cloudy world? What are the odds. :(
