To Mr Spew: me and Burai are speculating, who knows quite what the next 18 months will bring, but quality of product is little guarantee in today's image defined market.

Hmm, really? What's this about quality of a product? If anything, they've been better than ever.

Go speculate somewhere else, make your own boring thread about how MS are so evil, how they're not doing anything different, and just whinge in general. Ta.

Are you playing on a 360 now too?

That's actually a really good reply.

Sometimes, I do yawn, then remember I'm just tired and it's 4am and I'm still hitting/shooting/racing people on XBox Live.

It's in the exact same position that the Dreamcast was with third parties - nobody wants to commit until the market leader makes their move or consumers buy into it big-time. So it becomes the home of easy PlayStation and PC ports until the market leader launches and the generation begins proper.

If Xbox 360 had managed to completely kill off the PS2 like the PS1 did with the SNES, you'd undoubtedly be seeing far more in the way of exclusive games.

Couple of points:

(i) Easy PlayStation and PC ports, including, for example:

* GR:AW (comprehensive multiplayer game, which simply wouldn't find a market on the PC and is integrated with Live - again, not possible on the PC);

* Oblivion (see the moaning on the PC forums because the 360 is so obviously the target platform).

* PGR3.

* Hell, even Fight Night 3 (rewritten graphics engine), Fifa 2006 World Cup edition, Tiger Woods... support from EA kind of screws the Dreamcast-o-meter...

That's within 5 months of launch.

I believe the PS2 was still waiting for something other than Fantavision or SSX to be released at a similar point in time.

I *know* that the PSP was still waiting for something worthwhile other than Ridge Racers or Lumines...

(ii) How long did the PS1 take to kill off the SNES?!

---

[ Disclaimer. I'm obviously going to be buying a PS3. If only for Singstar 2; Eye Toy PS3 and Guitar Hero PS3... ]

I'm worried about this game. Just watched the E3 trailer and there is a clip of a motorbike that kind of looks like it's on a pivot and not in contact with the road surface. If the handling in this game is bad, it will be ruined..

I think we all need to pray at this moment in time..

Not yet although it does sound tasty

The taster features a hefty glimpse of both online and offline challenges, along with 40 miles of Hawaii's Oahu roads. You can take a spin in a Ford Shelby GT500, Lotus Exige or Lamborghini Gallardo, setting your own checkpoints in as many instant online challenges as you wish.

Would I be wrong in guessing that the demo will be out around 5pm (9am PST) ?

Going by their wording it should be, however they have messed us around so much in the past I dont believe a word of it.

If its there tonight when I get home I shall gladly eat my words though.

I really am dying to play this, and the demo sounds like a really good taster for it.

Wonder what I can sell to get an Xbox 360. Erm.

I could do with some new knees, how are yours? My wee bro has a premium 360 he doesn't use much, prolly wouldn't miss it for at least a week, by which time I'd be enjoying my new knees, and you'd be enjoying test drive. WINNAR! ;)

Actually my knees are pretty rubbish. I inherited dodgy ones. Genetics, eh? Tsk.

(Still, I shouldn't really do it anyway. I can't afford it, and besides, I have finals this month. Arrggghhh. Maybe for my birthday in June...)

Shame you can't queue this stuff up to download, also a shame I'm only on 1mb :/

Also a shame you can't download things in the background. You know, play Olbivion for a couple of hours and just get little notifications as each thing finishes downloading.
