I just noticed you can get a Santa Beard at the Salon too:

I have put tens of hours into this game and I still notice new stuff every time I play. There is a car dealership that I hadn't seen before and guys like Cup Man pop up from time to time:

Another new download has gone up today - a new co-op mission and a couple of new cars - 400 points I think.

Word up Sherlock.

Anyone know how to play co-op with a friend? It seems you can only play co-op with randoms as if two people are in the lobby it tells you there are too many players.

I've played co-op via invite, so it certainly can be done, but I'm not sure how I did it any more. We played some multiplayer in the same session, though, so I would imagine it was a case of getting the other player in the lobby and then changing the game type. Not much help, except I can confirm it's certainly possible.

There is another free download pack of clothing on the Marketplace.

Some pretty good stuff considering it's impossible to play enough multiplayer games to buy the normal clothes.

Also when did this game get so good? Having fallen in love with Vice City Stories I decided to give this a go at £25 and well, it's a bit great.

I put it on last night just to finish off the Chop Shop activities and ended up pissing about for ages - great game.

Finally got round to finishing the missions in this (not the activities, just the strongholds and main missions). What a strange ending ;) Sequel methinks. Will be interesting to see how they do it.

Was especially odd with Johnny holding the police badge and the other characters near by. Also, where's Julias!!?

I think the answer to the orignal question should be a resounding no.

SR2 isn't out until the end of '08. Whilst SR clearly wasn't a GTA-beater I think it's an underrated game - I still go back now to try to finish off various activities. It introduced some good features - the mobile phone, being able to replay missions, GPS etc and I thought the combat was a vast improvement over GTA. My main problems with the game were firstly the lack of bikes, helicopters, boats etc and secondly that the world was a little dull. I have no doubt that both of these will be addressed in the sequel.

I preferred the cars in SR over GTA. They felt much weightier and I also liked that if you did a car up and wrecked it, so long as you had stored it in your garage, the wreckage would turn up there for you to fix up when you could afford it. There never seemed to be any point in doing the cars up in SA as you'd be too scared to use them in missions.

I've been playing through this because whilst I want Saints Row 3 I can't really justify it to myself when I've barely played 1 or 2. I have been enjoying the original so far apart from a few missions which could really do with some checkpoints and the dodgy screen tearing. Now I'm on what I assume is the last of Los Carnales missions (shoot up a plane, avoid getting hit by rocket launchers) and it's driving me mad. Probably more so cos there's a big fucking drive and shitty cutscenes before the hard bit. I've played it quite a few times and always seem to either get taken down by the rocket lauchers or mobbed by three or four cars. I think I almost made it time before last (chasing the plane on the runway) but the car was destroyed by sheer number of Los Carnales around me before I could line up the RPG.

Fuck!
