Single hotlaps to start then

You should go to the FIA GT race in June, always the F1 layout and you can wander around and sit in grandstands all over the track :)

£20 in.

Did they use the new start point for that?

EDIT : Hah, beaten.

Standard Murray Walker nonsense. "He's come all the way from Austraila"

Edit:  "...and unless I'm very much mistaken, Kovaleinnen has made it into Q2 for the first time". "Actually he has done it before Murray"

Hopefully this is the start of Webber taking the fight to Vettel, it's something at least but Ferrari are in a decent position usually have good race pace as well. Another impressive qualy by Di Resta, he is impressing this season.

Since when have the BRDC ever given a shit about the muddy masses round the track. !! <_<

Probably not nice of me to comment that I spent a wonderful Saturday in the BRDC at the FIA GT championships, including slap-up meal and best 'seating' in the house (i.e. on the terrace up top).

It felt amazing waving a badge and being allowed access, with people forlornly looking on as you strode in smugly.

Had full pit/grid access too. That was good.

They have models of all the cars to have won significant races at Silverstone in cabinets, it's plush. I had a really nice chicken and tarragon pie with chips.

It looks like all the teams are going to stick two fingers up to the FIA and tell them they're not changing their engine maps. So it's all back to the Valencia setting for the race and an easy Redbull win.

If you think a tin foil hat is actually a good thing, then you could wonder why Bernie hasn't clamped down on the teams telling them that they have to turn off the over run, instead of organizing them into a cohesive block and getting them all to agree to change the rules back the way they were. Is this another move of Bernie to undermine Todt and get him removed at the end of the year ? Bernie 1 - 0 Todt.

I'd like to see Di Resta make the Podium too, pity Vettel's not third on the grid considering Webber's starts this year. Maldonado and Kobayashi also being in the top ten should make things interesting too, Hamilton's got alot of work to do to rescue this weekend.

It's a rather fabulous place to be the BRDC clubhouse isn't it? Watched Monaco qualifying in there with a beer a couple of years ago during the Mini 50th birthday weekend.
