Red Bulls mistake (same as Brawn) was making their golden bullet too good.

No one wants to see one person winning ever race. (See both Brawn double diffuser & Red Bulls EDF, Williams active suspension etc etc) Mclaren's F-duct is a great example of a "golden bullet" that wasn't too good. No need to ban it mid season.

Red bull should have dialled it back a touch in quali, maybe even given up a pole or 2. I then doubt they would have been smacked with the ban hammer until the end of the season.

I can't believe he was forced to apologise for that. Massive sense of humour failure for everyone involved.

Also Nikki Lauda should be ashamed of himself. Headline grabbing comments of no merit. Jacques Villeneuve has a very good comment in this months F1 mag about it all. I'll copy it up later.

Lauda's always been anti-Hamilton, for whatever reason. I don't think I've ever seen a quote where he isn't laying into him, so kind of automatically discount anything he says.

It's a shame Lauda is turning into such a bitter old man, because I genuinely admire him for his courage in coming back from his Nurburgring 1976 accident. I mean, when the guy pulled off his balaclava at the end of the Italian Grand Prix in which he'd finished 4th in his comeback parts of his bloody face came off with it! His comments were very cheap and completely out of order.

Actually, just remembered another funny Lauda quote. Obviously in his accident he lost most of his right ear - some years later a few fans were walking the part of the circuit where the crash happened and, by chance, came across Lauda looking a bit puzzled at the scene. When they asked him what he was doing he replied 'what do you think - looking for my fucking ear!'. True story by all accounts :).

Eddie Irvine also stuck his idiotic beak in, saying he's lost the plot. Lewis is a world champion; who the fuck is Eddie Irvine?

Indeed, his crowning achievement was being punched in the face by Senna. He wasn't even allowed to win the championship the year Schumacher broke his leg!

Plus, he had to have Mika Salo move out of the way for him so he could win at Hockenheim, in Salo's first race for Ferrari as sub.

I mean, come on... Mike Salo. Not a bad driver by any stretch of the imagination, but... yeah.

Jacques Villeneuve from F1 Mag on Hamilton...

I'm not impressed by Massa.

The Monaco Grand Prix - How annoying was that! So, the FIA brings in a bunch of new rules to create overtaking and then as soon as someone goes for it, they get punished! I'm talking, of course, about Lewis Hamilton. Lewis was involved in two incidents, one with Pastor Maldonado and another with Felipe Massa. Lewis didn't judge the move on Maldonado very well but his move on Massa around lowes hairpin was just fine, it's just that Massa wasn't too happy about it.

As a driver, you have to understand when you've lost the battle, but that didn't occur to Massa. Lewis was on the inside, they banged wheels & what did Felipe do? Turn in more & try & block him. It was a poor decision and two corners later, he crashed. Massa just got it wrong, so why was he complaining afterwards?

People criticised Lewis post race for being too aggressive, but at least he went for it. He wasn't deliberatly trying to take Maldonado out, he just didn't excecute the move as well as he could have done. You shouldn't be punsihed for something like that. You should be punsihed for taking someone out on purpose, or for weaving under braking or down a straight, but not for making a mistake.

I know Lewis was critical of the stewards afterwards, and i don't think its right for drivers to act as if the world is against them, but i did find his Ali G comment quite funny. F1 is so high pressure that you need to be able to laugh.

Lewis's driving was exciting, and thats what people want, proper racing. We need more drivers like him who really go for it, because that's what F1 is about.

That Watkins Glenn feature was awesome, would love to see the full thing!

Would also be awesome to see F1 drivers take part in some of the other marquee events in world motorsport like they used to do.
