So for me (after watching those in-depth replays) it's gone from Button being equally responsible to totally responsible for the crash, which makes his radio comment even more appalling. Seems like he was playing on Hamilton's recent reputation to keep his position after taking a poor corner himself.

I think he definitely saw Hamster but didn't expect his wheel to be in the hole. The radio comment was just cynical opportunism.

For me, Hamilton doesn't know when to back out of a move.

Horses for courses.

It looked to me like Button checked his mirror whilst Hamilton was still behind him, then a split second later Hamilton made his move and Button commenced his slow drift simultaneously.

They're both to blame if you ask me. Lewis should have known that gap was likely to disappear before he could get alongside; Button, who you can see checked his mirrors more than once, should have left some room.

Button has left him room in the past and lost position (China i think it was as one example). I think Lewis expected him to give up the position way too easily again and got squashed this time!

Surely he'd have heard the other car rapidly closing in right behind (hence him turning around to look for it), even if he couldn't see it properly in the mirror?

Would you hear much with a helmet and headphones on, buried deep in a car and your own engine in between too?

The thing is Button did see him coming, because he moved to the left in one sweeping move, as if to close the door to Hamilton. Otherwise he would have just kept to the right on the racing line in preparation for turn 1.

He was following the racing line- see Schumacher ahead of him.
