They wouldn't have to, though. They're perfectly fine going round at 12mph behind the safety car, why not do it in racing conditions?

When did this trend of stopping races for rain start? I swear they never used to do this and yet the cars are safer than ever.

yeah, as long as they remember that braking distances double in the wet...

Schumacher needs to take his German chum by the scruff of the neck and beat he living piss out of him. Even the radar picture then just said '2 light rain'.

Did I hear anyone at the Moto GP complaining about how wet it was today? did I fuck.

I can see this going to a restart.

The rain was nothing like this in Moto GP and given that half the field crashed out in that and as it was 1 bike per 300m of track they had none of the spray issues that a full complement of cars throwing up that amount of water about.

People who are questioning this really need to think about how low an F1 car runs, how deep the water is and how aero actually works. I though, bar a few in here, most people got this?

Vettel won't get any points for this though will he, isn't it 3/4 of the race for half points or something? If anything it'll be in Ham's favour if this doesn't get restarted, no?

I think it's over 3/4 for full points. They'll get half if it stops now.

These are not challenging conditions, you would have to be an idiot to think you can race full pelt in conditions like this - i would expect the SC would be aqua planing if it tried to build up speed let alone F1 cars that run so low to the ground.

Thanks, can I have my eggs to suck on with a bit of pepper next time?

Here's a thought: how about they go a bit slower?

You may respond that it wouldn't be a very exciting race, but as much as I'm enjoying seeing 23 cars sat still on the grid I think I'd like to see how far these supposedly great drivers can push it in search for the win in these conditions.

Has Hamilton bought into his own hype/celebrity lifestyle a little bit?

I guess it must be hard to stay grounded when you're earning millions, driving a formula 1 car, and dating a Pussycat Doll. He just seems so far up his own arse and an interview I saw a few weeks back where he said he thought he had a career in acting on the cards after a cameo in Cars 2 was cringeworthy.

You cannot go slower as tires will lose heat and traction. Its actaully dangerous to go slow!
