I hope Davidson is ashamed of his team.

What good is a win for Peugeot's publicity when they're patently cheating!

Looks even worse for them if Audi win despite them cheating.

:hmm:

Except of course for the bit where they haven't cheated.

That is exactly why you run 3 cars here. If it was 3 Audis and 1 Pug they would be doing exactly the same thing.

Surely Davidson would get penalized for holding up the Audi?

Why?

Thankfully endurance racing isn't run by the pussies that run F1 and doesn't share its utterly absurd blue flag rules.

I thought it was always mainstream, wasn't it?

I think it's starting to draw in a bigger audience not seen for quite a few years, and whereas some forms have always had the pull, it seems most engine based activities are starting to get better crowds.

The BTCC is a real suprise though, more teams, a set of cars that I don't really understand the rules for, a year of transition for what's comming next year, and only what, a couple of factory backed teams?

The fewer the better for a series like the BTCC in my view. The last time we had mostly manufacturer teams, the resulting vacuum when they all left crippled the series for nearly a decade.

But yes, only Chevrolet (RML - running 5th in class at LeMans right now) and Honda (Team Dynamics) are officially backing teams.

Ah fair enough, I've not had the ability to view Le Mans before so it's new to me. Waved blue flag doesn't mean get the hell out of the way then?

The commentators suggest that the same leeway wouldn't be granted if the teams were the other way around?

Oh absolutely, and there's some really interesting cars being used to go racing as well.

There is a theory, not entirely without substance, that the ACO stewards tend to favour a French team.

Probable wet race today. Been raining all morning in Montreal.

After wet Moto from Silverstone and a stunning Le Mans the F1 could be the crown on a fantastic motorsport weekend! Colour me excited.

Weekend? it's been a week of an absolute feast of motorsport with TT highlights on all last week.

If only they hadn't moved the WRC from Dave <_<

It's interesting when you read up on how motor sport was perceived in the past. I read Jackie Stewart's autobiography recently, and when he first started in F1 you could only find the results in the specialist press. It didn't even get a mention in the sports pages of the mainstream papers. Then the drivers started to become stars and their antics began to make it into the gossip columns, but it was still a couple of years before the sport itself got any coverage!
