Looks like it's already cancelled again.

Bahrain GP cannot happen, says Bernie Ecclestone

Formula 1 boss Bernie Ecclestone has said October's reinstated Bahrain Grand Prix cannot go ahead.

The race was due to open the season in March but was called off because of civil unrest. Last week the FIA restored it to the calendar.

"Hopefully we can return in the future, but of course it's not on," Ecclestone told BBC Sport's Dan Roan.

"The schedule cannot be rescheduled without the agreement of the participants - they're the facts."

The teams wrote to the FIA on Tuesday expressing their objections to Bahrain being put back on the calendar.

The decision to reinstate Bahrain was taken at a meeting of the FIA World Council on Friday, where the vote was passed without any objections.

But it seems the FIA had overlooked article 66 of its own sporting code, which says that no amendments can be made to the arrangements for a championship after entries open without the agreement of all competitors.

No to Bahrain petition: http://www.avaaz.org/en/no_f1_in_brutal_bahrain/

We call on you to declare publicly that you won't race in Bahrain this year, because the government has killed and injured hundreds of innocent people who were standing up for their rights. Your reputation, and Formula 1's, will suffer if you reward this deadly regime.

Congratulations a week late boy!

I won't believe it's fully off till JT says it is.

He can keep silent all he likes, there won't be any teams there, it was never back on.

They can't put it on the calendar anyway can they? from what I understand, a calendar change requires all the FOTA teams to accept and sign it, which they're all refusing to do. Which reminds me, there's 11 teams on FOTA, is it still Williams who aren't part of it?

I think it requires all the teams, not just the FOTA teams.

The one significance of FOTA here is that those teams would likely vote together.

nah it's only HRT who aren't in FOTA.

ah, I wasn't sure if it was one of the new teams or Williams, but certainly remember something happening with Williams a couple of seasons back or so?

Good video, agree a Scarbs pod cast would be great just so long it's not peter Windsor doing it, likely end up being sent out to all subscribers on a cassette tape each week. I love the picture behind as well, 1959 Le Mans start which ties in nicely to this weekend, anyone know if any site will be doing a proper stream or is it off to dodgy sites?

gah the BBC online feed is jerky as hell video wise.

On a Mac? Right click on the video -> settings and then the left most tab. Untick hardware acceleration then refresh the page/start up the video again. Just had that problem. Seems to affect BBC livestreams now and again. Remember to turn it back on afterwards.

Also, Vettel in the wall lols.

Do they always do what you say?

If only, Alonso certainly doesn't.

Only caught glimpses of FP so far but the cars have been looking quite lively, fingers crossed for another fantastic Montreal then, really is one of the best tracks on the calendar.

Karthikeyan last trip here.
