This isn't the end of it, Red Bull's official statement.

Red Bull Racing has acknowledged the FIA World Motor Sport Council’s decision to go ahead with the 2011 Bahrain Grand Prix.

We will go through the correct channels and discuss this decision within the appropriate forum with the other F1 teams and our fellow FOTA members.

Not sure what to do about the Bahrain thing. Obviously I won't watch it but that is hardly sticking it to the man! I don't think I have the resolve to give up on the sport entirely (and it is probably not the worst thing that f1 does... just a very cynical and obvious bad thing)

ANY way set your video recorder for "Murray Walker: Life in the Fast Lane"

http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/formula_one/13631434.stm

Murray Walker: Life in the Fast Lane will be broadcast on BBC Two on Sunday 5 June at 2000 BST.

It will not be available on the iplayer.

How are you going to boycott the race? By not watching it on TV?

Yes? You think if world TV viewing figures take a massive drop that won't be noticed?

And even if they don't, I don't want to be remotely involved with this utter, utter madness.

Not for one race I doubt anyone would really care. A season of appalling viewing figures would make them take notice .

Not on until Tuesday at 19:00 for those of us relying on BBC NI.

Can you not just watch the BBC England feed on Sky or Virgin? Thats what I usually do to watch MOTD2 early on a Sunday night instead of having to wait for shit like folks on the hill (or whatever it's called) to finish.

Maybe McLaren and Ferrari will agree with the rest, but still go anyway. It's the only way they can beat Vettel...

Not surprisingly there is more to it...

The Formula 1 teams are united in their opposition to the reinstatement of the Bahrain Grand Prix but concede that they would be legally obliged to attend should the World Motor Sport Council give the race the green light.

That Senna article was harrowing, but interesting reading. I never realised the extent of his injuries before.

As for the Bahrain GP, is anyone surprised at F1 being there? Money always wins over politics in F1 - look how long they raced in South Africa when other sports boycotted it. Or just look at the amount of terrible circuits at places that pay Bernie well.

On the topic of Senna, 8W (site I linked to earlier) have recently posted a very in-depth article on his last 96 hours.

Just a quick warning before you start reading: in parts it's quite harrowing, and at one point graphically describes Senna's state when Sid Watkins got to him.

Wow... Great article. Doesn't shy away from anything. Brings it all back and adds multiple new dimensions to it. I want to watch the film again now.

Oooooh... I just remembered... I have the front page of The Guardian from the day after his death in the loft at my parents. I bought it especially at the time, put it in a plastic bag & sealed it away. Couldn't even read it. Don't know why but I felt compelled to do so, to do something at the time.

I'm at my parents now. Tempted to dig it out.

It's a brilliant article, for me it was a horrible time - Senna is/was my hero and i was properly upset at the time but in the moment and even until reading the article you almost forget he was just a bloke going about his life and the impact was huge to many people. It has brought it all back and probably more than watching the film in an strange way and even while reading it i was still pleading for Senna to not race - insane i know but i did none the less.

I too have multiple papers from that day sealed in a bag in a cupboard, the only time i have seen them since is when we moved 2.5 years ago but even then i couldn't read them :(

Not surprisingly there is more to it...

they should do what I do when I don't want to take part in a race, turn the car around at the start, and drive round the track in the wrong direction, crashing into on-coming cars

Can't wait for the Murray ( ) doc on Sunday.

Reading the blub about the show, didn't realise he's 87. And that it's 10 years since he hung up the mike

Sunday BBC2 8pm

I had to go google it, thanks for the heads up. Also it will not be available on iplayer so make sure you watch it.

Just got back from Cinema City in Norwich to watch the Senna film. It was amazing. It felt eerie watching the footage of Imola 94. I was only 6 at the time, but even so it felt like it was only yesterday.

I thought the 'incident' would be horrible to watch, but having been shown the truly horrific footage of Martin Donnelly's crash in 1990 earlier, it was a strangley desensitizing experience watching Senna's fatal accident. But that was probably just me; there were at least two people in the theatre sobbing by the end.

The best bit I thought though was when

Piquet starts stirring shit in the driver's meeting before the 1990 Japanese grand prix. Talk about pushing Senna's buttons!

Actually, in regards to your spoiler, I was under the impression that

Piquet was saying that Senna was right to do what he did and that the FIA were being arseholes, and that asking a car to join the circuit at the entrance to a chicane they've just left is bloody dangerous

True, but my (probably wrong) reading of it was that the consenus agreed with Senna anyway and that there had been wrongdoing against him; and with it being water uner the bridge it wasn't really necessary for Piquet to bring it up, but knowing the preceding lecture about driver behaviour was primarily aimed at Senna which would have already annoyed him, he was deliberately agitating Senna by bringing it up as one of his infamous mind games.

Either way, Jean-Marie Belestre was a Grade-A pecker of the highest calibre.

I can see how you could interpret it that way,

especially taking into consideration Piquet's character, but at that point in the season he didn't really need to play mind games as far as I understand it, I just assumed he wanted clarification on the situation going into the race.

Oh, F1 stuff, Buemi was supposedly doing a demonstration in one of the Red Bull cars (probably last seasons) when someone jumped out in front of the car and attempted to hurdle it, Buemi hit him, thankfully neither were (seriously) hurt.

Who's planning on visiting the 24 Hours of Le Mans this year? :) I'm going for work, but will be staying at the track campsite and mostly enjoying the race. Anyone else going fancy a mini-meet?
