It's a component missing from his CV. Schumacher could rip a field apart, Mansell won in Hungary from outside the top 10 on the grid in the season's 3rd best car. Vettel, mostly for the best of reasons, simply hasn't done so yet.

It's just something missing that will stop him being considered a true great yet. But since he's a candidate for being so at age 23 he's not doing badly so far.

Who hates Vettel? Most people seem to respect his ability (his raw pace is incredible) but would like to see him mix it in the pack a bit more to properly evaluate his racecraft. Nobody's actually expecting him to do that just to amuse us though. It's up to the other teams to make cars that can compete with the Red Bull in qualifying - and however good Vettel himself is in qualifying (flawless), his car is unquestionably better than all others on a Saturday too. That's where the frustration is.

Shut the Fuck up.

So when Senna got his first taste of F1, he spotted Piquet and nervously walked over to see if he could have a chat with his fellow countryman and hero ... Piquet snubbed him; treated him like an annoying spectator asking for an autograph, and shattered Senna's image of him as Brazil's racing hero.

That was at Belgium in 1982. Interesting (well not really) note about this is that in Sid Watkin's book he claimed that when Senna saw him after Ratzenberger's crash at Imola in 1994 it struck him that Senna had never experienced a death at any of his race meetings. Not strictly true, as Ayrton was in the paddock when Villeneuve had his accident at the same meeting that the above-described incident happened.

I love the aero style on this:

And it would be great to see a matt black Batmobile style car such as below make an appearance. Does matt paint cause more drag/weigh more? Stands to reason that it does.

Also wondering if there has been any extreme paint jobs in F1? Pearlescent/Flaming tyre transfers etc, maybe they steer (excuse the pun) away from it because they want to be taken seriously?

I've definitively decided to buy it on Blu Ray and watch it at home, as I'm pretty sure various bits will choke me up. Ayrton was the man when I started watching the sport as a kid (1988) so I think I'd best be on my own, or with my fellow F1 nut chum who also isn't sure he should see it in the cinema for the same reason.

Going to do the same, well the lack of cinemas around showing it does sort of force my hand, but I don't think I could watch without breaking down, the thought of F1 on a big screen is appealing though.

Does the film actually show the crash? I've never actually seen it or the race nor had the desire to, I only saw Ratzenberger's crash because some idiot put it in the middle of a YT video with no warning, was horrible.

It does, yes. For me though, the most harrowing part was not the crash itself because I've seen that many times including when it actually happened, but the build-up, knowing it was coming, and the aftermath.

On the topic of Senna, 8W (site I linked to earlier) have recently posted a very in-depth article on his last 96 hours.

Just a quick warning before you start reading: in parts it's quite harrowing, and at one point graphically describes Senna's state when Sid Watkins got to him.

Heavy stuff, very interesting though.

I feel like I don't need to watch the film now after reading that.

My local one in Swansea isn't either. Can a kind soul who has the italian blu-ray confirm if it has englis subtitles that ONLY appear when foreign language is spoken?

Bastards, you're right. I'm sure I saw a poster for Senna at the Vue in Swansea but the buggers aren't showing it!

Yup, despite what Bernie says it is all about money. I mean, this is a country where last month doctors and nurses who attended to injured protestors were being jailed, even if they were just doing their jobs no matter who they helped or what side they were on. Plus, the protestors have made it clear that they will try to disrupt the race when it happens, so they're putting a lot of people at risk.
