Different lap. Hamilton had passed the sector 2 timing beam several seconds down as he had given up on the lap with Massa. Perez wasn't yet in the wall at that stage but it wasn't long after.

He hadn't recorded a time when the crash happened though, and I'm sure the Massa incident wasn't on Hamilton's out lap (as he wouldn't have cared in that case).

Edit: Doh, as dan_tm already said!

Mild concussion and a sprained thigh for Perez apparently, I presume he'll still be out tomorrow though. The team will be allowed to race their test driver I assume though, or would the 107% rule stop them?

What's that purple thing Rosberg got out of the car just before he removed the steering wheel?

I've seen that as well when Vettel got out of the car... what is it?

Looks like the middle of the safety harness. The bit all the straps click into.

No:

"31.2 No driver may start in the race without taking part in at least one practice session on the second day of practice."

If the crash had been in practice this morning they could have brought someone new in for qualifying (which is technically also a practice session), but it looks like you're not allowed on race day unless you've already spent some time in the car. Sensible really, as you don't want someone learning the track during the race. On top of that, I'm not even sure if their reserve driver has even actually driven the current car before!

Hispania allowed to race, bit of a surprise wonder how many times they'll be lapped and if there won't be a driver moaning about them tomorrow.

Laughable, they weren't within 107% at any point in the weekend. They've justified it by comparing HRT's practice 3 times in cool conditions on super softs with a bunch of top guys not trying in Q1.

I suspect they'll end up being let in to the race in Valencia because the 1:22s they were doing here are within 107% of the lap record there.
